Just wondering, does anyone know what the story is with Garda Reserve training for the year ahead? With all the cutbacks and no further promotions or recruitment within the fulltime Garda, does this mean that recruitment for the reserve will be effected?
I know its voluntary but obviously personnel will have to be paid to train the Reserves so I'm wondering will Reserve recruitment be effected.
Any comments. Thanks

I have two minds about it because I had my heart set on the full time but have to reassess the options?!Reserves definitely would be an invaluble experience:)but I think Im a little bit wary (don't know if that's the right word!) because they are still only recently established and don't know what to expect?!I've read up on all the information on the website etc but from talking to some people I've heard a couple of stories and opinions

Joined for the experience and to see was it for me, now starting with the full time in May.

I have just applied for the reserve through Public Jobs, i got my confirmation email but i am wondering do i fill out the interview application form now aswell or do i wait to be contacted?hey jypo yeah after applying online you fill out the interview form and I e-mailed mine in to the address given. You then just wait to be contacted regarding the next time they will be holding interviews down your way - this timeframe differs with people from a month to 7months (usually no longer than that).

Yeah they will send you out a letter/or contact you via e-mail stating they will be holding interviews your way on x date...if you wish to continue with your application etc please fill out the form that's on the publicjobs website for the interview and e-mail it onto the address given which I think was:Garda.Reserve@publicjobs.ie (they have had 2addresses in the past year but they received my application form to that address). They then send you out another letter with your interview&report writting details & what they want you to bring with you on the day itself like originals & copies of birth cert, certs&qualifications received and that's it then until the day itself.

well folks!
did my 2nd interview with the inspector in my local stn (kildare) 3 weeks ago!
he said im fine and that the medical would be next!
as of yet, have recieved no offical word of acceptance , or date for medical!
anyone else on a similar timeline?
or can anyone offer an opinion as to when i should expect word? 0 -
