I seriously dislike her, I think anything she sings will sound the same.

    haha

the same?? surely you agree shes different to the others. who do you want to win, boring alexandra or cheesy crybaby ruth because she has the biggest voice?! :P

Yes she is unique I grant you that, but her style is such that its very identifiable and every song she sings will sound the same. I hate the way she seems to bite down on her back teeth and press her tongue into her throat to get that sound. Yeuch. Also, stop the **** with your hands, too annoying.

To be honest I don't particularly like any of them this year. I did like Ruths version of Purple Rain though.

I agree the thing with the hands is annoying. To quote dani minogue it's like a puppet show but I think it adds to her quirkiness and Im glad she is unique and different from the start and it's not just an image somebody told her to portray. I guess you either love or hate her voice too

Amazing performance. I would love Ruth if she wasn't such an over-emotional dramatic twat. Before she made the live show she never shut up about being Spanish "oh...I'm spanish so people wont accept me boo hoo". And it doesnt help with Simon having some obsession with her having to sing in spanish every week.

Did you not see the episodes were the final acts performed and were chosen for the live shows? Every single one of them was blubering about something!:p It was cringeworthy. I have to admit, even though I am the biggest Ruth fan on here (:D), that I laughed with cynicism when she stopped singing to Minogue because she was so overcome with emotion.:pac:

anyone else think that Diana has one of the most captivating and unique voices ever?

I love her...I love her innocence and hope she wins. She's different.

To me, she has a very 'Irish' voice. When I hear her sing, in my mind I hear Dolores O'Riordan singing Salvation, or Sinead O'Connor singing Mandinka. Shades of Andrea Corr too.

I wouldn't pay too much notice to that - all the contestants are probably told to tell their sob stories to the camera. Producers think it makes good TV (though it's actually so much more cringeworthy).
Scott is probably the biggest offender this year - he is such a bloody crybaby! And Daniel aswell - tbh if his wife was still alive, I doubt he'd have made the top 12.

I think you've forgotten how much Austin cried in the auditions and boot camp shows!

scott and austin, its pretty pathetic watching these guys cry on stage.

If Daniel does not go out this week, I will eat my laptop.

If he doesn't show any decent progression then I'll be pissed off if he doesn't go. The only reason Leon weathered the storm last year was because he got better by each week.

Daniel or Scott to go. What do they have to sing this week anyway?

thats another thing i like about Diana. Don't recall her having a sob story. Also about Daniel. What you said is sad because it is so true

Didn't watch the boot camp or audition shows, tbh. But if Austin was as bad as Scott (all that weeping is pathetic), I'm glad I didn't. :)

Ah I think Daniel is genuine enough

He doesnt have high expectations, I really do think he just wants to make his wife and daughter proud

and he was the best Man who auditioned in his age category

I really hope Scott goes next

    what a sap!

*SPOILERS FOR TONIGHT AHEAD-SONG CHOICES-YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!*

Unfurl the feather boas and dust off those dickie-bows and join us on a walk down memory lane, as we revisit an era famous for its sharp style and ridiculously good songs.
Yes tonight is Big Band week and we are in for a humdinger! All ten acts will be accompanied by a live strings and brass orchestra in an evening of entertainment that will get the whole family salivating!
    Who’s singing what then?

JLS Ain't That A Kick In The Head
    Austin Drage Mack The Knife
    Eoghan Quigg L.O.V.E
    Scott Bruton That’s Life
    Diana Vickers Smile
Laura White God Bless The Child
    Alexandra Burke Candyman
Daniel Evans Lady Is A Tramp
    Ruth Lorenzo Summertime
    Rachel Hylton Feeling Good

    http://xfactor.itv.com/stories/story-detail/item_100295.htm

This could really go against Ruth, probably one of the worst themes suited to her. Looks like Rachel has finally gotten a song suited to her. I really hope Daniel or Scott go, but if they can manage to stay in tune this theme will suit the both of them. Eoghan and Diana could be in trouble as I don't think this theme will suit them but they will get by on their respective hype.

It's killing me to say it but Ruth could well be going out tonight. Damn these ridiculous themes.:(

Yes, I'm not a huge fan of these themes; they're very restrictive and puts some of the acts who blatantly aren't Michael Jackson style singers or 'big band' singers at a severe disadvantage. I guess everyone wwill have their strong and weak weeks; it's just a pity if any of them don't get the chance sing to their strengths. Rachel doesn't do anything for me, but she's had a run of bad weeks where the songs she's been given haven't suited her at all.

That's the situation in a nutshell. Very high standard tonight and it is impossible to guess who will be in the bottom two. I'd like to say Daniel and Scott but knowing how votes have gone so far they will criminally escape.

I couldn't understand a word of Laura's performance and I could only look on with bemusement at the amount of plaudits she was given. "People will be looking for that on Youtube". Sure they will Dannii.

Eoghan's performance was overhyped too. JLS could be in trouble. Alexandra and Rachel were the best.

Ruth was brilliant but knowing the nature of voting, and I hate to say this, she could well be in the bottom two tonight. I really hope not.

Logically speaking the three weakest performances, and the ones that should be in contention for the bottom two are
    • Scott
    • Daniel
    • JLS

Eh Austin was by far the best performance tonight.

I dont like Rachel at all.

You have to be radio rental....Not a chance by a looooong shot....All the girls were fantastic. My kids talked through most of the performances tonight but when Diana started to sing Smile the room fell silent...

Diana ftw.....Daniel hopefully will go tonight....

I must need my ears checked because I thought Eoghan was awful. Definitely the weakest. He sounded so out of tune.

    Wasn't mad about Diana tonight.

    I have to say, I can't stand Rachel's voice.

Scott was boring and JLS sounded very off.

The judges were so positive about everyone, it was weird!

    diana ftw ....

daniel will go tonight i reckon.

    disco week next week hmmmm.

This is the only part where we differ. As I said earlier, I thought Eoghan's performance was overhyped. I think all Diana managed to do was to get through what could have been a very tricky theme for her without a hitch. Agreed on Scott and JLS.

I hope Daniel goes. I don't think he should even be in the live shows in the first place. He is a distinctly average singer and is there simply by virtue of his sob story - I'm sick of hearing it mentioned practically every time he's on the screen

If not Daniel, then I hope Scott goes. Never warmed to him and there are better singers.

I'm going to assume you're not being sarcastic, cos that would be incredibly contradictory :)

    Fingers crossed it's Scott!
God he's like a petulant child.
