[US/IRL] 3X14 - "Exposé" [** SPOILERS WITHIN **]

All filler. What an absolute load of crap.

That was a good episode I thought. Had nothing to do with anything really, which is how I can see some people would be annoyed. It was kinda like its own little sub story but it was cleverly done and that ending was very dark.

I liked all the cameo's from dead survivors and the flashbacks to the island. Although some of them didn't really work in my opinion. For instance, when Ben and Juliet went down to the Pearl, would they not know someone was down there from the fact that the hatch doors were open and the lights were on? Didn't make much sense.

So is that the end of Paulo and Nikki then? You have to wonder the point of them being in the show at all. I was expecting them to have some tie to the main plot and taking some secret to their grave but in the end there was nothing. Dunno really.

I don't care what anyone says I thought this was a excellent episode. Very funny and cleverly written and I suspect some of the plot developments will pay off in upcoming episodes, e.g. the walkie talkie, what Sawyer and Charlie did to Sun, etc. Also there was clarification as to why the Others took Jack and co. Great stuff overall and lots of subtle winks to the fans.

And all the people shouting "filler" just because there aren't huge revelations about the monster/others/island in every episode are watching the wrong show. Go back to the first season and you'll see Lost has always mixed lighter/fun, character episodes with the bigger mythological ones. I mean it took them about 12 or 13 episodes to get into the hatch, does that mean everything between was filler?? There's more to this show than the mysteries.

Probably the strangest episode I ca ever remember seeing.

Incredible that Paolo and Nikki knew about both the plane and the Pearl before Locke or anyone else ever found them. Can't believe they didn't mention to anyone that there was something seriously weird going on. Didn't expect them to be criminals either. I wonder if there's a moral lesson to be tied into the bigger story. Especially since Nikki seems to have been punished by the smoke for doing what she did to Paolo. No other reason for the noise before the male spiders arrived.

I actually loved the ending, from the minute Nikki knocked him out, my heart was racing, which happens very rarely when I watch tv shows. I was kind of left aghast when I realised they were being buried alive, and the flash of Nikki's eyes opening just before the dirt fell was brilliant. A dark ending, as someone, said, which really worked, as the show usually isn't like that at all.

I liked the bits with Ben & Juliet, and Arzt's cameo. It was also well done the way it brought back around Paolo using the toilet from the start of the season. This whole plotline must have been well planned I guess, so maybe it will be relevant going forward. The fact that the survivors now have a walkie-talkie will be interesting. Again though, I don't know why Paolo didn't just tell everyone he had found one, he could have made up something if someone asked him where he had found it. He should also have known Michael was working with the Other's, and that it was a trap for Jack and the crew going across the island. Did he really care that little about them? Or is it just loose writing?

Also, the way Ben was talking to Juliet in the Pearl makes it seem like he wanted to, and intended to get caught. How else would he have hoped to get near enough to Jack to "exploit his emotional ties". Which raises the question as to whether Danielle was in on it (although I doubt it, he probably just used Danielle as a handy way of getting caught).

Relationships at the camp will be pretty strained going forward too, Sun won't be too happy with Sawyer/Charlie obviously, but I can imagine the story will come out to the rest at some stage too. Hopefully they can put the walkie-talkie to good use too and listen in on the others or something.

Some Paolo/Nikki zombies rising from the beach would be pretty good in the future too.

Ah I thought it was a pretty good episode, a bit like the Twilight Zone set in Lost, ok I moaned about Paolo & Nikkie but at least there own little story was pretty good, and as they had plotted and killed the Director to get the diamonds, the Island got these "Bad" people back in its own way. Nice flashbacks to especially the plane crash from a different angle (could watch your man being sucked into the engine all dat ) I'll give this an 8 better then your average lost filler

but a very and i mean very clever way of the writers backtracking and including stroylines to cover over plot holes. the episdoe was so bizzare with real life and expose the series crossing back and forth, ultimately they steal diamonds from an old rich guy, just like a potential expose plot you'd imagine. the fact that nikki and p were dodgy before the island goes some way into explaining why they didn't tell anyone about the stuff they found....and jack has great leadership skills as atoned to in that apparently worthless scene with his less than enigmatic speech

and ben quite simply wanted jack to perform an operation on him, so no crazy double bluff or test...man, lost is strange

This was covered; when nikki gets the spider to bite paolo, she mentions that it's not going to kill him, but will paralyse him for about 8 hours, and it'll look like he's dead to anyone that checks because his heart rate will be so low.

When she gets bitten she knows she only has a while before she gets paralysed so she runs, hides the diamonds, then runs to hurley and says 'paralysed'. They show this scene twice, and the second time it's more obvious she says 'paralysed', the first time its hard to hear, and when hurley says 'paolo lies' it seems to fit.

I thought this was an enjoyable episode, and certainly explained some of the earlier Nikki and Paolo scenes. I was aghast when I saw Paolo listen in on Ben's plot to use Michael, and shouted something unpleasant at him for that! Strange that Juliet didn't know who Jack was despite the big file on him that the Others had!

Not sure why Boone and Shannon were there really, but I loved Shannon's comment to Boone that they might get more done if he didn't keep hitting on random guys. Was this the allusion to the gay character mentioned flippantly in an earlier podcast? And Ethan was wasted too, though I suppose it planted the suspicion in the mind about whether or not these two were working with the Others.

Dr Artz was as annoying as ever. I'd have expected nothing less! What a shame that dynamite had to take him out.

And as for Billy Dee - Doh!!! We all fell for that one, and I guess leaking the Exposé scene without the camera cut at the end made it look like he was a Mr Big of Dharma/ Cobra.

I didn't expect them both to die today, but I guess it continues Lost's fascination with introducing new characters with the sole aim of killing them off. Watch out Juliet!!!

I'd love to know the logic behind how some people rate episodes of Lost. The number of 7+s I see every week frighten me and also make me wonder did the people handing out such high marks even watch the first season. Are there ratings above ten that I just dont know about?

This episode was meh *sigh* meh on a scale of meh to wow (I propose this as a more accurate rating system:p). Characters I neither knew nor cared about with a narrative that doesnt advance plot development. Plot development aside I didnt find that the episode offered anything else.

I gave it an 8. I actually enjoyed this ep suprisingly. I was expecting complete bullcrap but it was not bad at all. Loved seeing Nikki's eyes opening as they dumped soil in to the grave. Its a fast was to get rid of two characters that are not needed or wanted tbh.

Other than that not much happened, i think Sun was to cool when Charlie owned up to the kidnap incident. She should have gone mental.

I did know straight away that they were only paralyzed. As soon as you see the teacher with the jar and the spider i knew thats what happened. Odd though when you hear the SMOKE just before loads of the spiders appear and bite Nikki.

Maybe I'm over-examining here, but I have two (albeit tongue-in-cheek) questions arising from this episode...
(i) who fed the female Medusa spider in its jar for the last 40/50 days since Arzt blew up? ("That's not the one Arzt caught, Nikki went out with a glass jar and caught her own female Medusa spider" will not suffice for an answer)
(ii) where did the Losties ever get that shovel they use to dig graves and bury people with? It didn't come out of the Swan anyway because they had it long before then for the several people who died in the first season. Did some pleb decide to bring a shovel from Sydney to LA incase they didn't have shovels in America? Or did Ethan bring it with him from the Barracks as part of his decoy "luggage"?
