It won't be anything valuable or special, but should still be a pleasant enough bike to ride if you're not trying to win the TDF. Perfect for utility or leisurely touring.

The most like issue is that it's probably too high geared, unless you live somewhere pretty flat or are a very strong rider.

A wide range freewheel block would fix that.

That's what I figured, think I'm going to suggest he takes it back, as I have bikes that cover the above already.

I'm not against more bikes, but I don't want to take them for the sake of taking them.

IIRC cletus is roughly the same height as me (he beat me to that cadex i would have bought) so looking at that frame, i don't think he'd enjoy riding it. it looks very large?

I'm 6'1" (186cm), I've a feeling that's a little taller than you, for some reason MB. The Cadex is probably a touch on the small side for me, but through a combination on a longer seatpost, and relatively short journeys, I'm pretty comfortable on it 😀

aha, you're quite a bit taller than me so.

Not helping the bicycle discussion much, but it's an edifying and positive post nonetheless, which I certainly appreciate.

To add to it, I have a dog here that's the offspring of a Harrier x Lurcher parental unit. Tall, athletic, with cool droopy ears and a very sweet temperament!!

I'm going to be perfectly honest, mb's commentary is more interesting than the bike I posted

This is commonly known as a midlife crisis bicycle, or, alternatively, a Raleigh Burner.

Some quick research states it's a mk1 Burner GS, which Raleigh supplied to UK mail order catalogue companies (Littlewoods, Grattans, etc.), for sale through their catalogues, and wasn't available from Raleigh dealers.

So, a bit of a rarity…Which creates a dilemma: restoration or customisation?
