Yes and there will be access control implemented for members too at some stage.

Tesco Extra opening in the Willows December 5th I see.

Popped into Tesco Express a couple times now, it's bigger than expected. Pretty large fridge/freezer and alcohol sections. It won't be a competitor for the weekly shop location but will be handy in a pinch.

I also saw McEntee spreading the word that they'll be breaking ground for CNS and Colaiste Ríoga in the New Year after the construction tender/contract has been approved to move forward.

I was out walking earlier on the footpath at the graveyard heading in the Willows direction at about noon. The footpath is quite narrow there. A guy on bike ( looked like an electrical bike but not sure ) and wearing a full head helmet, all in black, comes speeding at me on the path. He showed no signs of stopping or slowing down so I had to quite literally jump out of the way to let him pass. If this guy hits someone ( a parent out with a pram, an older person, anyone indeed ) he could seriously injure or kill them. He had himself all kitted out in protection but couldn't care less about pedestrians on footpaths. Crazy. I didn't get a chance to take a photo but will be certainly looking out in future to report him to An Garda and RSA.

Some landscaping works taking place across from seachnall abbey just before the bus stop?
I don't think it's a case of tree removal so something else must be afoot.

I vaguely recall a planning application a few years back, from a company in the business park who wanted to create an entrance way in that area up to their buisness. Maybe it got the green light after all.

Interesting. I don't see any new application or granted permission on previous submissions to add pedestrian and vehicular access. I assume that by "vehicular" they mean bicycles etc because no way they could justify access for cars/trucks at that spot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭maik3n

Unfortunately, from what I recall of the application, there was a proper vehicular access/entrance road being requested by the company, which certainly put the vapours up a lot of locals, lol.

    Found it

It may or may not be this though.

So I think they're actually building a new office unit there. The road access is an addendum to exiting permission for Block G, which I don't see in the current site layouts. The proposed plan attached to that application has a very faint outline for the new carpark/building. That could be what they're clearing out now.

    Gerry O'Connor on Facebook:

FYIGood news received on Monday regarding the link road between junction 6 on the M3 and the R147 at the willows. Finally , about numerous meetings and representations with the executive, funding will be sought from the department following a business case being completed and €100k has been put into the capital plan specifically for this purpose. It’s a start and will be built on going forward. More good news was received by me from Transportation. Funding of €300k has been allocated for the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing at the Tara News junction. This work will be completed in 2026 as part of the municipal district works programme. It’s taken a long time to get to this stage. In 2019, in order to deal with the parking from Tara News down to Bruges( it was the Hair Shop then)…. I was successful in getting the road made a public road( it was in private ownership ) This process was only completed after a long planning process. which included public consultation. It was only completed in late 2023. Once this was done I pushed the executive to sort out the drainage problem at Tara News. After another long process , including two tendering bids, this was completed last year. The next process planned was to resurface the road from the junction down to College Close and this will be completed once the signal crossing is installed this year. So pardon the pun buts it a long road travelled to get this finally resolved. We are nearly there. The traffic lights will ensure that pedestrians and vehicles will be able to go in and out of the junction safely. I have also secured funding for a pedestrian crossing to service residents in Cnoc Tiernacht and Grange Park housing estates , and Lagore RoadSo it’s good news all around.

Saw this earlier in the week, really great news. Tara News is a mess, how there's not more incidents is a miracle.

That link road from the Willows to Applegreen will be brilliant for traffic flow too. It's a while away yet but hopefully there's plenty of traction behind that business case to get it off the ground. The town is strangled by it's linear design at the moment.

I'd like to see the link from The Willows to Lagore Road and the improvements such as more footpaths and street lighting on Lagore Road which is a death trap it's so dangerous for walkers and cyclists. This is probably still year's away from happening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭joficeduns1

That last block from The Willows to Lagore is developer led, there was planning refused last year for the development that would finish it off. I'd say it's being reassessed to submit again, if it hasn't already been.

So it's good we have a zebra crossing and ramps near the park now but taking out the chicane just seems rather silly.

The knocks area is still very busy and lots of traffic come up the hill.

False alarm, they are putting more ramps down in place of the chicane so all is good.

I wonder when this will happen..

Latest news is that a business case is being put together for this link road. The Dunshaughlin Town Team is keeping tabs on this looking for endorsement opportunities to advocate for it. The road is part of the Town Center First project plans too, due for publication soon, which should carry some weight to getting it off the ground.

The biggest blocker is likely the chance it will all be 'developer-led'. Really they should just build the road and let the developments occur around it instead of delivering it piece-meal.

There were murmurings of the Fire Station being moved to a location on that Applegreen roundabout, to kick off the road, but we'll see if that happens. Moving the Fire Station is happening though, just matter of when.

Just saw there today that our clampers have moved into Super Valu.
So we are royally screwed with regard to parking in the village now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭joficeduns1

Yikes, is that the first change Musgraves have implemented to SuperValu? I've been hoping for years now that they'd improve the parking/junction there. It's a nightmare once it gets at all busy.

Edit: If the clampers do help manage the erratic parking then I'm on board with them to be fair. Looks like there's a strategy for that.

SuperValu don't own the car park ironically. They have no say in painting, clamping etc.

What! Who owns it, McEntaggarts? That's nuts.

Funding granted for road/path enhancements for this year. Great news about the Tara News junction. Between that and the courthouse project there'll be a great improvement to the town centre before long.

Yeah McEntaggarts. They’re only giving businesses 1 permit per shop for parking. I know it’s very busy there but a lot of people work in the units and SV itself and need to drive to work. Hopefully something will get sorted for them.
