Do none of the pubs still not offer any sort of music over the weekend?

    Find it very strange.

Was in Carberrys last Friday night and it was fairly dead, which it shouldn't be with only 3 pubs to the population. (Not including the shibin)

There are 4 not including The Síbín. The Arch and Peter's do occasionally have music. Peter's do quizzes and I'm pretty sure there was a band competition there before Christmas. Lawless' very rarely have someone in. There used to be a Trad group in Carberry's once a week on a weekday, but no idea if that's still going. It used to be The Síbín that had bands most regularly but not for several years. Bands had to set up at the back door, which blocked it. Or go upstairs which doesn't have a raised area for a band and they have to lug their equipment up stairs.

Had completely forgotten about Peter's and I was only in there for some quick food recently.

Ye it's a pity, even someone with a guitar.

Surprised these pubs aren't pushing harder for the influx of new residents, to make their pub a regular spot.

I know lawlesses on and off have a Trad session on a Thursday.

Does anyone happen to have any information on the new houses in Grange Park? Price and when they are selling? Hard to get any info on them and the houses look like they are flying up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭Metalpanic

Best thing to do would be to contact the auctioneer. Not sure if I can post contact details here, but they are built by Hora and lets say they keep all the business in the family 😀 I viewed the first phase 5 years ago. Back then 4 bed detached was €475k and 5 beds €520 I think. 4 bed semi in the Willows was up for €555k on Daft recently so I would say that price at least for Grange Park. They were more expensive than the Willows in Phase 1.

    Hi,

thanks for the reply. I’ll get in touch with Hora. I was also wondering about the plot of land on the corner of the Drumree Road, opposite the school and garage. Has it been sold and is there anything likely to be built there soon?

    TIA

Beside the Arch Bar? I think that was zoned for shops/Apartments.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 karlak

Yes just at that junction. Opposite the across from the Arch bar, at the lights. It’s quite a big site when you look at it closely. Can imagine they’ll try and squeeze in as much as possible on it.

Any word on who has bought the county club?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 837 ✭✭✭maik3n

The new Lidl estate seems to be open now.

I had a wander through Greenane the other day and there does seem to be a pedestrian entrance from said new estate. It was still temporarily blocked off though and remains to be seen if it will actually be utilised.

All rumours. I’ve heard Conor McGregor bought it and a Romanian Mosque.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭rizzee

Haha! I’ve also heard the guy who now owns the Arch bought it - Can’t trust any word going around!!

The 10KM race is on this weekend, expect traffic disruptions around 7-9pm. Always a good buzz around the village that evening.

    Hi,

I hope this is the correct thread but myself and my partner are thinking of moving out to Dunshaughlin in the next 12-18 months and would love to hear more about the area (good and bad) from those who live and/or have lived there. We've spent the day there in recent months and love the town and area but would like more info on the area in terms of pubs, restaurants, sports/fitness, safety, transport etc. We are both from Dublin so moving to Dunshaughlin would be a big move for us both.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi Andy

Long time blow-in to Dunshaughlin here (around 25 years!) so have seen the village dramatically develop into the little town it is today.

There’s currently 5 pubs in the village, 2 of them (Sibin and Peter’s) provide food options. There’s Gourmet Food Parlour and Tenoo restaurants which can be hit and miss.

The local athletics club Dunshaughlin A.C and football (soccer) Dunshaughlin Youths FC have their grounds in the Willows estate on the Dublin side of the village, where as the Gaelic club is on the opposite side of the village. There is a gym in the Community Centre in the secondary school, however it’s quite small. There are a number of local personal trainers who provide classes etc on their own premises scattered around the village and industrial estate. No swimming pool yet however Trim, Navan and Ashbourne are all within 15/20 mins drive and have better facilities.

There are plenty of shops for general groceries, as well as Chinese, Indian and plenty of barbers and hair salons (it’s a running joke at this stage, when one closes another opens!)

Transport, the 109 will take you to Navan/Kells / Cavan (& in the opposite way Blanchardstown & Dublin City), 109A will take you to Ratoath - Ashbourne / Airport , the new 109B towards Kilmessan / Trim I believe. It has been widely criticised in the past in terms of Bus Eireann reliability but it seems to have improved recently. There is a live tracking system too. The M3 is a short drive from the village too, peak traffic is quite busy as expected.

Dunshaughlin has been quite safe, I have noticed a slight increase in certain members of society in the area causing some disturbances but there is a decent community watch via the “Grapevine” Facebook group for all residents. The Garda station is barely open (once a week if lucky) so if you need anything you will have to rely on Ashbourne.

I live in the centre of the village and love it, most of the people are very friendly and there is a community atmosphere. The yearly “Harvest Festival” brings a great buzz to the village, every September, you should go if you’re thinking of moving to the area!

Any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask

Do we know who/what is moving into Jim O'Brien carpets?
    Is it another salon/hairdressers 😋

Dunshaughlins been selected for the Town Centre First scheme and the local Town Team are now looking for some public feedback on what you'd like to see. Hopefully some people can spare a few minutes to complete the survey and get some ideas going https://forms.microsoft.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=l5a3NfDaDkCkdiFvl84dZTVWDTlmzIVMlazefHsw8DFUNEZNSFk1OUUyS00xMlNHODJYRFVFTEg2MS4u&origin=QRCode&route=shorturl

Great weekend for the Harvest festival. Gets better and better every year. The park was a great location and was laid out well. Nice to see all the families out and about.

So we have more roadworks this coming week, Dublin side.
I presume this must be a new entrance perhaps for Colaiste Rioga or is there something else happening?

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone knows of any other new builds coming to the area other than the Willows?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 293 ✭✭joficeduns1

I know there's plans for more houses near the Dún Ríoga development at the northwest end of the Town, up near the new Applegreen being built. I'm not sure on the timeline, but 2027 is in the CDP for the next development phase on that land.

O'Hora are building at the back of grange park houses. On the back road to Ratoath

I see Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) have a notification of a road closure for the Drumree Road, they are planning sewer upgrades outside the GAA grounds (see below). The Road will be closed on 22nd April and the 23rd April next week.

A bit late to the party….. to say the least but the Castlethorn Development beyond the GAA grounds, was ultimately blocked/refused.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 854 ✭✭✭GeneHunt

Thanks for linking the above article and the An Bord Pleanala case, however Castlethorn Development has just (8th May 25) got the go ahead to finish the Dun Rioga development, they had applied for an amendment to the proposed apartment block from a 5 story building to a 4 story building, this apartment block to be built along side the link road to the M3, see above

That's a new roundabout in those plan images above (between the Dún Ríoga and future Applegreen) for anyone wondering.
