Who knows with the pace this comp moved its anyone guess on when they launch another, also noting the 2024 comp was quite short they may extend it although again that's just a guess.

I was asking publicjobs for an update yesterday for my chosen area and also asked if there are any plans for a new comp. next year, this is the response (obviously this could change given the wording as well as what the person is approved to share):

"At present we have no set plans in place to run a new competition in 2026."

anyone heard anything about interviews for the recently shortlisted area. I know a few went to the shortlisting stage a few weeks ago. Imagine as demand led they should move to interviews fairly quickly

Does shortlisting indicate there is a demand for posts? Thanks

Is shortlisting an indication that there are vacancies in that specific area? Thanks for any advice.

I’ve been provisionally allocated to a Department which I would prefer not to work in. Public Jobs doesn’t seem to offer any flexibility to change this and I was wondering if anyone has experience of successfully altering their provisional allocation?

You get one offer. Makes me curious what the department is tho and why 🤔

My understanding is you have to accept what's offered and can't request a different department. Were you batch 1.4 or 1.3 out of curiosity

As others have said, you only get one option in this competition. I believe years ago you could get refuse up to 2. I'm also extremely curious which one you don't want. Every department has interesting and less interesting parts. You could be in HR, project management, reform, IT etc in any of the departments. And you really only have to do 2-3 years and then can start applying for mobility / internal transfer etc.

yes shortlisting is demand led so they won’t shotlist unless there’s demand.

Hi there! Also got my topics today and scratching my head around the process. When you say a “sub-objective”, do you mean one of the bullet points under each of the headings? My understanding is that we need to come up with a policy under the topic/objective proposed that would hit one or a couple of the sub-objective/bullet points, would that be correct?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,752 ✭✭✭bren2001

Thats exactly what I mean. I went for a single bullet point. Extremely specific ie would only effect a few hundred people but it was incredibly well researched (i already work in the area with a PhD in an adjacent area and ran the idea past an actual expert).

Has anyone had anything in front of them for the interview, apart from presentation slides? In some pre-covid in person interviews they allowed you to bring your application form with you, I presume that isn't the case at AP level?

It’s online. You can have a family of hamsters in front of you if that would help. I had notes for the presentation, and a sheet with an extremely brief version of my application form. What I had for each capability etc.

    Anyone up for interview tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭gemi

Has anyone from Batch 1.4 that got interview results a couple of weeks ago started employment checks or heard anything further as yet? Interested to know if they're moving through that batch yet to place people. I'm lower down OOM (I assume) so think I'll be waiting a while anyway, but keen to know if any movement.

Hi all, can anyone tell me is the capability interview much different from a competency interview, I have my Interview soon and only have experience of competency interviews, trying to get myself prepared. Thanks

It seems like they've made it maybe 5-7 people through the batch 1.4 OOM panel members. If you email the clearance email that was provided and ask they'll tell you how many people are still ahead of you.

Oh lovely, thank you so much. That's a great shout, I'll check in with them. Thanks!

    I'm batch 1.4, OOM 5 and I still haven't heard from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 Juniper14

Strange, I'm just going off what they told me but if you're 5 it doesn't quite add up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭skidmarkoner

They may have mixed up offers qirh request and those who are 5-7 will hear this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 romajune01

Has anybody in Roscommon, Longford or Leitrim heard anything yet? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭gemi

I contacted them and came back this morning, based on the number they said are still ahead of me to be called for clearance it does sound like they've reached up to OOM 7. So hopefully that means they'll be reaching out this week if you're OOM 5. Does seem strange though that's what they're saying and you haven't heard already.

Anyone know how long the Garda Vetting process takes? I sent mine in almost 1 month ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 mol_89

Just on this, also been in touch with PAS this week and they gave me the same info re up to OOM 7 being called for clearance.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 4,675 Mod ✭✭✭✭dory

Mine took 4-5 days. Have you a long criminal record and/or did you live abroad? Weird that’s it’s taking so long.
