FFront Sensors weren't working. They were showing "please clean Front sensors". Brought it back to dealer. He said there was a crack on one of them( you'd need a magnifying glass to see it). Told me it was 'nt covered by warranty. Anyone esle encountered this problem. Seems very harsh.

I checked out some up North, again its expensive if you want one integrated into the rear boot flap. Something like £650.

Cheaper options were available, like mounted above the number plate, think that might have been 400 odd.

It’s the default answer, well documented on the net, there was a bulletin on it somewhere that notified dealers not to replace the sensor but say it was stone damage - it’s annoying because park assist won’t work without it.

I sourced the part myself and got a local guy to change it, took him a couple of minutes. Not 100% but I think the outside edge sensors may have a different part number to the inside ones.
VW wanted €380, €80 of that for running the diagnostics on a car that was under full warranty 🙈 needless to say I didn’t pay for the ‘diagnostic’ …

TThanks Very much for that. The particular garage i went to ( in Kilkenny))were anything but helpful.Dismissed out of hand. When I asked him how much would it be to fix it,he said he couldn't say. Even when I asked for a ballpark figure he wasn't in any way forthcoming . Can you tell me how much you paid for the replacement. The sensor with the crack in it is the inside passenger one. Thanks again for your help.

Think it was around €40 second hand, the irony here is that when I went to a friend of mines body shop they had a bucket of them -

They clip out, I wasn’t able to clip it out but the mechanic did it in seconds …

Vw price was definitely €380- even going to a local lad to order a new one would be a fraction of that 👍🏻

Have a Google and get the part number and work from there, I looked for the old one but I’d binned it doing a clear out.

Weirdly, my ID3 is showing a lot of Polish radio stations today?

Some of the station logos are also wrong. TodayFM was showing some Polish name.

    Anyone ever seen this before?

TThank You very much. Appreciate your help.Ill definitely go that route. Certainly won't be going to a VW dealer for it anyway.

The old iD3 thread had someone who ordered and did a DIY job on the sensor. They gave decent instructions I think. I'd have to look back. I've also had the pleasure of dealing with them! 🙁

Agh great. What colour did you go for and when did you order it?

    Best of luck with collection

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 913 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

it's black on black wheels. Ordered all the way back in February. It's been here for a good while now but only able to pickup now for various reasons.

Nice.. we ordered a silver (actually think I prefer the black!), hoping to collect over the next week or so.

Be sure to put up some pics.

I was thinking between red, silver and black. Went with black cause I thought i might get tired of the two tone look at the back.

Slight issue with charging. I set the location thing when at home but when I plug in it immediately starts charging.

First impressions are great though tbf. Feels more premium than my model 3 in ride quality and noise at motorway speeds even with the wider sports tyres. Having the normal click of the indicator stalk for example got me way more excited than it really should have done. There is a lot of buttons on that stalk that I've not used yet so maybe it could be confusing, doubt it though

Early days but the iq drive I optioned has been great as reviewers have said. Seems a real step up from tesla. I only seem to be able to go up in 10km increments though. Is there a way to change it to 1km as I'd like to be able to match GPS speed?

Swiping up / down instead of tapping I believe but it’s been a while since I used it.

Maybe it’s changed in the newer models but I tap the +/- for 1km or swipe up and down for 10. I found the touch buttons took take a bit of practice to get it right.

    There is a bug there…

It will keep resetting to "immediate" so when you are leaving the car you need to check the screen and flip it to preferred time but even then it will still not honour your stop time everytime (sometimes it will).

You can use the swipe method others mention but you also do a "softer press" of the haptic button and it will go up in ones that way too.

That's a bit of a shame about the charging. I have done what you said and selected it before getting out, will it now charge at the time i set in the location section?

In travel assist I tried swiping for 1km Increments but it doesn't seem to be working. Always goes in 10km. I could be just crap at it.

With the charging unplug and start again, it happens sometimes but not very often. In relation to the travel assist it should do increments of 1km, just make sure you don't swipe near the +/- or it will pick it up.

If you selected preferred time and you have a preferred time turned on for that location it will start at that time… what it might not do is stop at the selected end time… it might proceed beyond the end time and only stop when you reach the set state of charge (80% or whatever you set).

In travel assist I tried swiping for 1km Increments but it doesn't seem to be working. Always goes in 10km. I could be just crap at it.

Instead of swiping, try a light press of the button… it will go up in 1s then. A hard press goes up in 10s. Takes a bit of getting used to to get the pressure right… which is why people dont like these haptic buttons.

Try Not to swipe, if you press from the top or bottom usually works for me.

The small issues aside I gave my neighbor a go of it to see if his opinions were different since he didnt just buy one so wont be as biased as me. He had a tesla first and let me drive his which swayed me to go for that. He seemed to be as impressed as I was but wants me to give him feedback on my first long drive.

like me he was very impressed by the hud and the ar guidence when navigating.

Im going to have to mention travel assist again since im so impressed. It's better in every way and much more natural to use than teslas version. I mentioned the indicator stalk before, a small thing that is way better.

Now I just need to see how the rain sensing wipers work. I'd be disgusted if they aren't better than the tesla, confident they won't be, even though there's not that much sensitivity settings that I've had in previous cars. I just want normal there.

It did try to start charging at 12 but **** the bed immediately so I changed to immediate charging.

As much as I think this is a better car I've had close to zero issues charging the tesla in my time.

I realise the comparisons to tesla might get boring for some but its my only reference and the cars are similarly priced so I would say relevant.

what exactly did it do at 12? Did it start and then stop again… is that what you’re saying?

Mine is set to the location on the car, the charger dies not have any timeslots scheduled. When type of charger have you?

I noticed it cause when charging a switch flicks and my heatpump turns off. That happened and then it all came back on so I checked the app and it wasn't charging. I then just changed to immediate and hit start to get it going.

All sorted with the 1km. Not sure how i couldn't do it before, haha

    Have the tesla charger.
