Next step is to try a different cable or home charger I guess.

Definitely do that as that will rule out alot of things in one go.

Also check that you don’t have the “reduced charging” option turned on by accident in the app or in the car.

Interesting article on advancements being made by VW on the new pending smaller EVS

Interesting times ahead for vw in electric mobility. The ID POLO is supposed to be the first ID with rivian software and LFP batterys.

APP350 is mooted for the ID.3

APP290 mooted for MEB+ cars like ID. 2 Polo. APP350 will have water cooling instead of water and oil cooling in APP350.

Next ID.3 GTI(not GTX) will supposedly get rear disc brakes.

ID.2 Polo is supposed to have an efficiency of about 12.5kw per 100km.

New ID3 Pricelist out, dated September 2025, includes for the first time, the full spec of 2 new "Fire & Ice" ID3 variants, both of which are circa 3k higher priced than the other two GTX variants, which brings to 10 the number of ID3 trims available, 6 of which have the larger 79kWh battery.

F & I GTX Performance, is 3 k more than the standard GTX Performance plus, but only has decorative and paint upgrades, zero functional equipment added.

Volkswagen is launching a limited special edition of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE, developed in collaboration with the performance sportswear brand BOGNER FIRE+ICE, part of the Munich-based luxury sports fashion company BOGNER

right. As a potential buyer of an ID3, I can’t imagine spending 3€k more on colourful seats and paint colours, only for the car to depreciate just like the rest of them.

The ID3 doesn’t need 10 variants either ffs!

We have weekly discussions here trying to figure out all the various spec’s over the years.

They had the Fire and Ice at the IAA in Munich. I wouldn't pay 3k extra for it but the colour was good

the colour is very nice, but those horrible red stripes and the oversized f & i variant name on the side, leaves it down.

So it's a Lapiz blue sortof ID.3 and some aftermarket looking wheels? They'd want to be bloody forged for that money...

I think the original Fire and Ice had VERY striking pink and blue seats, so the ID3 presumably has some hat-tips to that too.

Again though, this is like something Alfa would do to shift the last few hundred chassis of a run-out model.

The last thing the ID3 needs is another variant, with the same drivechain.

And people wonder why Golf drivers loved the simple choice of Sportline, Comfortline, Trendline 😄

    It's a purple colour.

I think the interior was black with some red, looked like the base seats out of a Cupra Born.

The zipper idea seems a bit mental :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,378 ✭✭✭KCross

They look the same as the GTX ergoActive seats….. without the zipper (!!) and different colours but ultimately the same seats from what I can see.

Can see we have a new autumn theme for those on the larger screen.
Less annoying than the bumblebee summer one but still pointless.

I think every time you see red model Y they've spent around 3k to pay for this colour. Car makers know people care much about looks and take advantage of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,434 ✭✭✭sk8board

this is more comparable to a Foundation edition Tesla imho - I’d personally not notice a red Tesla as anything unusual, and I’m deep in the EV weeds.

I think the ID3 doesn’t need an expensive and pretty niche, historical, obscure variant.

These types of variants are usually added on reduced-price runout models of a car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,273 ✭✭✭September1

My point is 3k for just a paint is not really that expensive and Irish consumers seem to be pretty happy with this price point. VW plans to make only 1990 of those, so perhaps there would be enough buyers in Europe.

Note that we are talking about this variant, so there is some marketing value. Perhaps on other forums GRR Martin fans show some interest too.

Quite surprised to find that the model year 2026 price list.

Still has the very good GTX pricing.

38,695 euros including delivery for the non performance GTX is excellent given you get the 79 kwh battery for that price.

Never mind the GTX bits and bobs.

Edit - posted before seeing the earlier posts

I have a 2021 ID.3 with 155,000 km. The service is due now. I think I need a replacement parking sensor. I tried cleaning it but the warning keeps appearing. I can't get a service with MSL until after christmas. I booked it in online but they phoned to say they are booked up for the next three months.

Any recommendations on independent garages? I live in Dublin 15.

Just had something put small hole in radiator of my 2024 vw id3. Its leaking coolant and i am sure it will cost quite a bit to replace. Any ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭joe1303l

You might get it covered under warranty but it’s more likely they’ll reject your claim on the basis that it was damaged by a stone chipping or whatever. Radweld or K-Seal might keep you going as temporary fix. A new radiator should be about €250+fitting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭Anois_

I wouldn't put any of that crap in the cooling system as it clogs up the rest of the system which isn't good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭joe1303l

It’s a bodge for sure and wouldn’t be my preferred option. That said the coolant system in an EV could be a lot simpler than an ICE vehicle so less arteries to potentially clog up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭Anois_

I'm pretty sure it cools the batteries.

I think anyway. I'm no mechanic though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Yep, in the case of an ID3, it would be connected to the battery pack, motor and cabin heating/cooling. Older simpler EV’s like a Leaf or e-Golf don’t have battery temperature heating/cooling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭Anois_

Like I said so do not use that crap in the cooling system OP. If you want to use something find the crack and do the bodge job on the outside of radiator. But it's best to just get a replacement radiator.

Genuine rad is around €250, a spurious rad in a 241 car still under warranty might not be a great idea.
