Does seem low alright. 200 seems to be the number of permanent testers that they're targeting though the numbers don't include contract testers .. but I don't know how many of the latter there are operating at the moment.

I'm of the opinion they'll employ more and more in the coming years with the population increase.

Currently on the waiting list for my A license, at least a 4 month wait for a test currently.

There are no contract testers at the moment. All of those that were on temporary contracts that made it though the recruitment process have signed their permanent contracts and are now in the permanent headquarters. (Roughly 30) The RSA are looking to bring their numbers to 200 testers as that's all they are allowed to have. That's the mandate they have been given. There will be no more contract testers . There are training course starting Monday in tallaght for 8 brand new recruits which will all be based in the Dublin region. and one in cork starting shortly. There will be more then after these are completed. There are limited number of training officers so this then delays the training as one trainer is required for every two new recruits.

First group of trainee's have passed and and are now due in their permanent headquarters. Second groups begins May 12th in three Dublin test centers with roughly 20 new recruits to begin training and then placed throughout the country. More training will begin when these courses are completed.

RSA are under pressure as they've gotten a lot of negative press in the last week about testing delays.

I'm hoping that is a good thing for those of us waiting to be called!

Hi all, my fella has got a job offer. In Offaly and is starting training on the 26th May, in Mullingar. I just said I would update as people were curious as to hear did anyone get an offer outside of Dublin/Cork. He got the offer today, but they said they were trying to ring him Friday last, and he missed it.

That is great news, glad to hear that they are moving to other counties. Was he at the top of the panel do you mind me asking? Just trying to gauge how many they are taking from the panels.

I dont mind at all. He was. He was number 1 for Offaly and 2 for Tipperary. He was offered a choice of a place in Offaly or Clonmel, but he picked Offaly as it is 20 min drive from where we live. Clonmel is an hour drive at best!

200 new testers have been approved to be appointed. Not sure of the timescale though.

I thought they were just bringing the total up to 200?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,844 ✭✭✭carzony

I could possibly be wrong but I was sure they said that on the radio the other morning.

If it’s like the ADI test, you’re allowed 4 grade 2 marks.

    you’re wrong

I spoke to Sean Canney this morning

He said it had been reported wrong

A year or two ago there was 100 testers

    Then 130 as of now

The rsa are recruiting 70 more to bring it to 200

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 Fuzzy123

I told him the lack of transparency is breathtaking

The rsa won’t tell me where I currently am on the panel

    Has training commenced

    How many roles in cork

The 6 month process was a money making excerise for Collins mcnicolas

Good example was the theory test we did at home and had 5 days to do it

Could have been done by anyone

It's been a very unprofessional process throughout but I won't comment further as i've made my opinions known already.

More training courses has started in tallaght finglas and in Mulhuddart. People to be place in Dublin Kilkenny,Roscommon and a few other places throughout the country.this is after the completion of the training courses that finished The RSA has a mandate to bring the permanent number of testers to 200. There is plenty of overtime being offered including the bank holidays which testers don't normally work. More training course with start end of month with people already have been contacted. There are no testers who have retired being brought back for overtime as per the article mentioned above. There are now well over 130 tests so figures being mentioned here are wide of the mark. The backlog is large but there is a massive number of people that do not show up for their tests or turn up for test in cars that cannot be tested.
