The PS4 generation also happened more than 12 years ago, before skyrocketing semiconductor prices / shortages, the weak yen, ever-extending development cycles, major inflation etc… Just because the performance might be similiar doesn't mean that's the only factor that should be taken into account, or that development costs have stayed static even in a well-managed company such as Nintendo. Also games tend to be more costly at console launch as that's when there's a smaller user base and therefore a lower ceiling for initail revenue - though at least Nintendo games have proven to have a much longer tail.

Of course we'd all much rather games be cheaper, and of course Nintendo will continue to make a profit (that is why they exist as a going concern, as much as I'd love them to be a non-profit dedicated to creating joyful video games). But games will inevitably cost more as time goes on - it's not realistic to expect base prices to stay at the same level eternally. Though I do continue to wish digital prices reflected the decreased overhead, and I hope that smaller-scale games at a lower price point continue to exist even on first party release slates.
