Will happily pay that tbh after watching that launch.

I'd say Nintendo are prepping for a bit of this…

I'll be sickened if preorders go live when I'm in work later and i miss out.

The Donkey Kong game looks like it was developed by the Odyssey team so probably not.

Nintendo UK site says April 8th (got through the queue to confirm), which I assume applies to other retailers too.

I'm happy with Nintendo's efforts, they've had more than enough time to get this ready. Metroid Prime 4, Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza look great. I'll pick up TOTK at some point too, with its improved performance on Switch 2.

3 party efforts are by and large very disappointing. It was riddled with ports. Duskbloods looked nice and was the only real game of note, which Nintendo made sure to highlight. It says it's exclusive, but probably only for so long. Sure the likes of Monster Hunter Rise and Octopath Traveler were initially exclusive.

Preorders go live Tuesday next week (8th April) .

€470 or €510 incl Mario kart.

Lots of gaping holes in terms of information. No price on the console, games, various tiers of NSO. They mentioned that the new cartridges are the same size, red in colour and have faster speeds, but no mention of their capacity. 256GB internal memory is a big step up over the puny 32GB of Switch and Wii U.

How much is the camera peripheral? Nintendo are letting people try the GameChat feature for free for a while, no determined length. You still need the camera though, can you use a 3rd party camera peripheral? You could be lumped with an expensive camera if you decide not to continue with GameChat.

Invite only for 'select Nintendo switch online members' - I wonder how that'll work?

    Great presentation.

expensive though I thought. Wonder how long it will take the oled to appear. Couple of years probably

It’s in valves steam deck territory but not sure if that is a problem for Nintendo fans

To be able to preorder from Nintendo you have to:

Have been subscribed to Switch Online for the last two years uninterrupted

Have played a lot of digital games, people with more playtime are served first

Have enabled data sharing with Nintendo for games

Have enabled getting ad mails from Nintendo

This was posted on Reddit and I thought it was a joke at first before seeing the invite only on the Nintendo site and now I’m not too sure.

The game prices are outrageous. €90 for the Pro Controller!!! €60 for a memory card!!

Hard pass Nintendo. Glad I bought a PS5 and I will keep my two Switches to play the games I have yet to play.

This will bomb hard. Parents will not pay those prices for little Jeffrey's Santa present.

510 for the Mario Kart bundle is about what I expected.

90 for physical Mario Kart and 80 for physical Donkey Kong would put me off the console though. I know it's not much different to the price of other console's games but they go on sale much quicker.

Also not sure why they are charging for that Switch 2 tour game/expierience they showed, that should just be free.

What a master class of a Direct. They hit it out of the park. Quality hardware with Mario Kart at launch.

Jaysus, Nintendo starting to follow the Rolex AD business model?

Yeah for all I said about prices earlier, €90 for Mario Kart physical is beyond what even Sony are charging. That's a massive jump, given the fuss about Tears of the Kingdom going to €70 just a few years ago.

I guess those game cards are expensive, but a big premium nonetheless. The bundle at least is a big discount at that price.

€470 for the console, €90 for a controller, having to pay for the graphical upgrade on games you've already bought? I'm not sure this is it Nintendo.

OK so it's a more powerful Switch, but I'm not sure there's much else there. They're launching it into a vastly different market than the original Switch. When the Switch came out, it was genuinely exciting to have big box games on a handheld. Skyrim or the Switch felt revolutionary.

Now they're launching the Switch 2 with Elden Ring, that's fine but the likes of the Steam Deck mean it's not new or exciting anymore. The Switch sold itself on not just Nintendo games, but it being the only option for big games on a handheld. That's just not true anymore and Mario Kart aside, as someone who owns a Steam Deck, I saw nothing there that would convince me to splash €500 on a new machine.

Paying for upgraded graphics on games I've already bought it particularly galling.
