You were not lying about the first 10 minutes:)

I enjoyed that episode more than the rest of the series, to be honest. Good twists and was more in line with S1 in terms of laughs.

I wish they'd done more to introduce us to Joe and Becca's relationship though. I feel like he's quite funny and I could have been rooting for them.

Just finished season 2, that was a steaming pile of garbage.

One or two jokes were good but plot holes big enough to drive a 747 through and characters that would say one thing and do the opposite.

    Waste of time

Myself and my wife watched this over the Christmas. After hearing the universally growing reviews and all that we were left utterly underwhelmed.

I’m not sure how it was pitched but it felt a bit ITV afternoon drama. The characters have a bit of depth but at times the set-pieces and the acting for them is a bit hammy.

Really reminded me of Finding Joy. You could feel the comedy and you could feel where it didn’t land. The “What are we like” bickering sister sthick was milked dry midway through series one.

A couple things didn't make sense.

Ian disappearing for a long stretch should have raised far more questions. Why did he choose Grace as a mark, was there any indication she was loaded and could be milked all whole having another wife.

Thought the last two episodes were decent, more in keeping with S1 in terms of humour. But yeah, all in all it wasn't a patch on S1. It felt like there wasn't enough story to do a full season (even being 2 eps shorter) so there was a lot of filler to get them to episodes 7 and 8.

Loads of things didn't make sense.

How come Ian fell off a cliff in Donegal and ended up in hospital in Dublin? How come Garda Houlihan had to get Inspector Loftus to fix things for her in the end (not exactly a female empowerment message)?

Last two episodes were a big improvement on the rest of S2.

Because Letterkenny hospital is on its knees 99% of the time and he had head injuries which usually go to Boumont anyway. I assume. I didn't really question it but it's not that far fetched.

Pity Yasmine Akram wasn’t one of the main characters.

Overall having finished it now I think they should leave if be, season 1 was fantastic but season 2 was really an echo of it tbh.

The ending wasn’t really satisfactory. Loftus walks in and magically resolves the plot with a chat with our villain (the true one). We’re expected to think that’s the end and the Garveys and Blathnaid get a happily ever after not really having done much to resolve their situation Houlihan throws in a cryptic “you’re not the only one with friends in the PSNI” (her actress is from NI, but her character seems to be living in Dublin with her mum and it’s the only allusion in the entire series to her NI background).

No, Tusla never came back to bother Eva after all the wine. The social worker must have been happy.

No resolution to the plot line involving Loftus estranged wife and daughter either

    Regarding Houlihan and the PSNI,

She asked a friend in the PSNI to find out about Ian / Cormac, so she did have contacts. Fair enough though that they could have spent some more time developing her story. She added a lot to the second series.

I found Series 1 slightly annoying where about 5 episodes were basically the same, trying to kill JP and failing, but overall really enjoyed both series.

Does anyone know where the final scene of Series 2 was filmed, where they put Grace's ashes in the water?

Not sure where it was filmed but they used a completely different house for Eva's in S2 because apparently the one they used in S1 was demolished in 2022 to build some ultra modern looking thing. It looked like wherever they filmed the last scene was below the new house they were using. Quite a lot of S2 was filmed in the UK, I think. Much more than was for S1 anyway.

The intro of episode 8 would have made a great primer episode or episode 2 or 3.

They basically jammed a whole series worth of drama into one episode.

    The rest was just filler.

So disappointing from such a satisfying first season.

Not a patch on S1 unfortunately, can't see there being a S3. Probably should have just left it as a standalone single season as it was ment to be.

Yeah season 2 was unnecessary and a far reach creatively . Money talks though

Enjoyable but not a patch on season 1. I feel that they were trying to out-think the viewer with the villain bait and switch. Nice idea, but they went to hard into making Angelica am absolute controlling b*tch with a hidden agenda. She blackmailed Ursula. She also forced the sisters to spread Grace's ashes on her terms (and to get Eva in trouble with Social Services). They made it out that Grace was coming from Angelica's when she had the accident (that was a rural pub she went to, not a built up area where Angelica lives). She had massive stalker vibes on Blathnaid with the creepy room set up and luring her to the house in secret. Now you could probably paint some of that as Angelic just hating the sisters (for what reason?) but it's a stretch. As for Ian, why not just tell the sisters of the danger if she was that concerned. Also, if Ian is the danger, why send social services to Eva to try have her guardianship removed (leaving Blathnaid with Ian).

Other random things that never really went anywhere… Roger hitting on all the sisters. Roger's burning conscience. Ursula getting caught stealing pills. Loftus's daughter. The Becca pregnancy story (only seemed to serve as an "awh baby" moment in the final scene). Bringing Matt back when they could have just focused on her and Joe. Ian's family in Donegal and how involved was the wife.

Anyway, it was decent. They did a good job squeezing a second season out of it and it was entertaining in parts. The resolution with the retired Loftus just saying (I assume bluffing) that he'll back the sisters against Ian was pants. Eva called the ambulance from her phone. He was found wearing one of the sisters ponchos (or whatever). And Houlihan just lost interest in the sisters covering up JPs murder?

loved all of season 1.. finished season 2 recently.. enjoyed it but thought it was even more farcical than usual… but the last episode is class!! makes the whole 2nd series worth while imo

Rewatching Luther the other night. I forgot Roger played a very different character in that.
