That scene between Victor and his Dad was so emotional. Really well done.

Interesting episode. I do get why the towns people were upset at Tabitha, she really did nothing much when she got out but I get she didn't want to get locked up for acting crazy. It seems every episode brings a fresh mental breakdown for one of the characters. Still entertaining though!

    Stupid question.

Would the talisman not stop the Ghouls from leaving the barn after the Asian cuisine?

It hasn't been established that they work like that. Also, they have access to the talisman from within the barn so they could just take it down or knock it off.

IIRC, was Boyd's plan to put one on the outside to trap one in? It's rightly called out as a stupid plan.

Ye Boyds idea to Trap one seemed to have died a death. A pity.

Wonder if the bottles getting taken down fcuk up the tree co ordinates.

Also, no one going to mention the Motel sign?

IIRC, it's been implied that since there is an evil force at play here, there may also be a good force trying to help them. The most obvious of this is the boy in white but it could be more than that. So my read of how the trees works is that they are a network that are controlled (or influenced) by this good force. It's not random what happens. Boyd goes in and learns about the tower so he can later save the trio that were possessed (or abducted?). Tabitha gets to the lighthouse so she can get to the outside world. Dale is sent… of all places… into the pool wall where he's immediately seen and shown as an example "don't go in the f*cking tree". I think this good force is trying to steer the group onto the path that ultimately wins out over the evil.

This isn't all that surprising a theme when you think of LOST and how that was ultimately the foundation of all that happened there… good vs evil. Both forces using their influence to bring people (for help or fodder) to the place, to manipulate the place (evil killing the crops, good preserving the plot they found a few episodes ago).

Perhaps that will happen later on in the series as the result could be very revealing?

So from watching the latest episode it seems that

Fatima is not pregnant after all. So something very strange happening there as she has all the symptoms of pregnancy.

The lady from the RV in the first episode.

Every episode, I always think she has the most beautiful voice ever.

Could they not try knock one down with the ambulance and trap it.

Struggling to see how they can catch one.

I'm yet to start this season - is is heading to a conclusion or at least an explanation of what it is, or is it still doing the Lost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,174 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

Still doing the Lost impression. From reading here and elsewhere online most people clearly enjoy all the mystery but I can't get over my scepticism that it's not well thought out and there will be a poor payoff like Lost

    Only way to explain everything.

It's still acting as a mystery box but I wouldn't (for now) put it in the same bracket as LOST. I find the layering of mystery in FROM to be a bit more considered in it's approach. The basic mystery is still the same, new twists do feel organic to the premise of the show, and new developments can often be referenced back to something in previous seasons.

LOST had that too but LOST felt like it was throwing easter eggs all over the place that we thought were important clues but no… that Dharma logo on the shark meant nothing… the big map on the wall that the Internet blew up over, that came to nothing, the polar bear… I'm sure it was explained but it was another "mystery" that meant nothing…. the numbers! And on and on.

I fully agree, LOST was same mystery mcguffin recycled and repeated, this one seems to have more depth. But at the same time I really want at least some sort of closure or explanation, maybe just about the nature of the place, alien, rift in spacetime, evil, something. Not knowing anything about its nature is just too frustrating.

I love the show, definitely a new favourite, but at least it's constantly moving forward….slowly, granted, but it does move.

    ”Run”

However the real question is where do you run to?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,563 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Into the woods where she'll find something that no one else has seen.

For a group of people who have been there for a long time, they only seem to be finding everything since Jim and family arrived. Apart from the talismans.

So how annoying is that cop going to be?

That was so weird even Freakish with Tabita in this episode. Honestly I thought something one of them monsters was going to come out of her like in Alien.

Doing a lost and definitely slowing down in terms of storytelling. Just adding more mystery without other resolutions.

Yep - end of season 3 and still non the wiser about what its all about, just more mysteries

Still just enough intriguing to carry on but then felt that way with Lost

It's not the end of season 3 there are three episodes left in season 3 with the last two episodes titled Revelations: Chapter One & Revelations: Chapter Two.

So I would imagine Revelations should revel something about the mystery.
