"Poor Elgin. If they had waited and let him go, he would've found out he was lied to about going home."

Exactly. I was thinking that too. All they had to do was let him go and follow and they would have found Fatima before she had the monster not that they could stop it but maybe they could have killed it there and then.

The other question that I have seen no one ask though is How did it end up in Fatima?

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I thought that was a really good twist with smilie's return! Never saw that coming, I howled out loud! I was finding the who Fatima storyline a bit tedious but it was all worth it!

The thing I trust about this show is that I expect there to be a satisfying explanation in the end, like Dark, unlike Lost.

Really strong finish to the season after the previous 3 episodes slowed things down a lot. A lot to unpack but first and foremost, it's great to have some progression on the mystery, even if it is just another mystery box. They've substituted "what are the monsters" with "who is the man in yellow" (MIY).

From the progression of the mystery standpoint, I really enjoy all the little callbacks they make to previous wtf moments that don't get a lot of attention but then in the callback it's a lightbulb moment. The MIY makes a 2 minute appearance at the season end but his presence has been there since season 1. The idea that he gave the monsters the "gift" of eternal life by sacrificing their children and then saving those children being the key to saving everyone sits right with me. It's fantastical but it also works as the basis for what's going on. I assume the MIY is the "big bad" behind everything… some sort of devil character.

The Fatima storyline has dragged in places this season but ultimately had a very good destination. The scene with the midwife from hell and the hatch opening was freaky… and then what was delivered! It was cool to see how the monsters are "reborn" as well. I saw a good shout on Twitter that Fatima only confirmed she was pregnant after Smiley died. So this must tie in to the eternal life deal. Even if they are killed, they just come back… in the most horrendous way possible (for the resident giving birth to it). Great to have Smiley back anyway. I hope the monsters get more screentime in season 4.

Jim got a good sendoff and is a big enough character to give the shock moment but in reality, his journey has nowhere left to go. He got to be instrumental in cracking the code, healed his relationship with his wife, went down swinging to protect Julie. With Tabhita and Jade now becoming more than just themselves, I'm not sure how Jim would have fit into that in an interesting way.

Lovely moment again with Victor and his dad. Wish we got more of them together.

Sara FTW, going in and getting sh*t done. Boyd was doing some damage but he was stalling IMO with the "easy" stuff. Sara knew it and got answers. MVP :D

That cop turned out to be a complete flop of an addition to the town.

What else… Julie has figured out (or will figure out) how to jump through time. But, as Ethan said, does she have any power to change events. She can clearly interact with the environment (threw the rope down to Boyd, spoke to Jim) but is it one of those time travel tropes of "it happened that way because it always happened that way". They really went out of their way with the hair to make it obvious. I think it would have worked better without that. Based on what she said, it was obvious enough anyway.

Overall, probably the weakest season so far due to the dip in episodes 7-9. It was on fire though in the first half of the season, and that was a very strong finale.

Was left a little underwhelmed by the finale. It dragged in parts. The Elgin scene was unnecessary as we have seen Boyd make those hard decisions already so it offered nothing new. Gwan Sara though ya mad yoke 🤣

Ultimately it was pointless anyway, by the time they got to Fatima.

Fatima story arc has been so poorly done which is such a shame. It would have made more sense for her to be part of the ritual too with Smiley.

Questions were answered, kinda. The Man In Yellow was the boom moment of the show but we barely got anything. There was another 10 minutes they could have gone with him to move things forward.

Either way, just like when season 3 started, we will have forgotten so much about the show by the time the new season lands in 2026 🙈

I'm on episode 5. I love it, yet it annoys me - so drawn out and repetitive, yet still it intrigues me and I've got to keep with it. With the acknowledgement that it could go nowhere.

That sums up my feelings of the show quite well. Frustratingly slow, but just about intriguing enough to reel me in every week.

    binged it in 48 hours

I Love this show I agree with above it does drag sometimes but I found this season had lots of twists, jumps and definitely felt like the walls were closing in on them. I can’t believe it’ll be 2026 when we get season 4

Finished it last night. Crikey, WHAT an ending. Like, a bunch of things came together. It's great - it would be amazing without the padding, but that's probably out of the writers' hands due to advertising slot agreements.

What is 'the padding'? New name for filler is it?

Can't have every minute of every episode giving us astounding revelations. Would fit every series into a couple of episodes.

    B MOVIES then.

Yes, it refers to filler. It's not a new word for it.

Well every minute of every episode giving us astounding revelations would just be stupid. Nobody has implied they want something like that.

It would just be better imo without the excessive repetition and dragging.
