Seemingly his partner had a baby in the past week, so bondage, sorry bonding, comes first.

As an outside center, Hawkshaw is not in the same league as Tom... Hawkshaw is a great squad player who can fill so many holes in a pinch (wouldn't been a loss at out half last Saturday)...

From a weight profile Hugh is already a stone heavier and 2 years younger....

    https://all.rugby/player/cathal-forde

Hard to know the accuracy on thise figures..

Think Cathal is probably a 13 under that profile.... I still would love to try him at 10... He seems to have all the skills for the position

Agreed. Would love to see Cathal playing 10. We have lots of talent at centre to cover his absence

Clearly there are coaching issues that need to be resolved. But the 10 issue is killing us. We know the pros and cons of our two current 10s and to be honest the cons are winning these days

Carty will likely start 10 vs Benetton and Hawkshaw should be 22 with Farrell selected at 13. The coaching team must choose the strongest side this Saturday.

I suppose when Bundee is back, Forde could get a run at 13 for the rest of the season.

I think that we’re well stocked at 12 for the next few years. However, we’re very light at 10, 13 and at 15 (hopefully Santiago can do the business there). We really need to recruit at 10 and 13 urgently.

    15. Tiernan O’Halloran (232)
    14. Diarmuid Kilgallen (22)
    13. David Hawkshaw (25)
    12. Cathal Forde (24)
    11. Andrew Smith (10)
    10. Jack Carty (207) (C)
    9. Michael McDonald (7)
    1. Jordan Duggan (44)
    2. Dave Heffernan (192)
    3. Jack Aungier (63)
    4. Niall Murray (69)
    5. Joe Joyce (13)
    6. Cian Prendergast (62)
    7. Shamus Hurley-Langton (33)
    8. Paul Boyle (88)

    16. Eoin de Buitléar (5)
    17. Denis Buckley (243)
    18. Sam Illo (17)
    19. Darragh Murray (20)
    20. Jarrad Butler (123)
    21. Colm Reilly (24)
    22. Shane Jennings (7)
    23. Shayne Bolton (11)

Lot of changes again, maybe we will hit on a winning combination yet.

Good to see that Blade has been dropped.

Are any of Dooley, Blade, Ralston injured?

Benetton: Rhyno Smith, Ignacio Mendy, Tommaso Menoncello, Ignacio Brex, Onisi Ratave, Jacob Umaga, Alessandro Garbisi, Thomas Gallo, Giacomo Nicotera, Giosuè Zilocchi, Niccolò Cannone, Eli Snyman (CAPT), Alessandro Izekor, Michele Lamaro, Toa Halafihi

Replacements: Bautista Bernasconi, Mirco Spagnolo, Tiziano Pasquali, Federico Ruzza, Lorenzo Cannone, Andy Uren, Tomas Albornoz, Malakai Fekitoa

Strong Benetton team. Defending the Brex/Menoncello axis is going to be a big challenge for Hawkshaw.

I don't think he's been dropped. Look at the amount of regular starters missing.

Hate to say it but I think connacht could take a bit of a pummeling here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,189 ✭✭✭typhoony

I think it can go only one way tomorrow and that's from bad to worse, poor recruitment is the cause of the lack of improvement over the last 4 years. One Mack Hansen isn't going to buck that trend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 860 ✭✭✭ShineyShiney

Or you could say one Wilkins, one Muldoon and one sexton have bucked the trend.....

I'm ok with the squad on an individual basis but something stinks in the set up.

I wouldn't say no to another few international standard players but this squad is more than good enough to have a minimum expectation of top eight.

    Total Coaching failure imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Can't agree with this at all. Recruitment has been excellent, especially under Friend, and our squad is the best we've ever had imo.

    Whats McDonald like?

And what is the fascination with playing Hawkshaw at 13?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

McDonald is pretty average imo, but he hasn't gotten many minutes thus far to show what he can do. I guess they want to get Hawkshaw in the team, and minutes at 12 are going to be hard to come by.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

The winning combination must be just around the corner. Will surely hit on it before the end of the season. It's clear to me that we have just been incredibly unlucky not to have already solved the problem. Our issues are clearly down to the perfect starting 15.

Rather than mentioning selection changes I suggest we call the process 'the Wilkins shuffle'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭testtech05

Forde needs to start getting those clearances off the pitch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭testtech05

How many chances do you want to clear your lines..... Walked in very easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭testtech05

How many phases can they go back to check a knock on? That's the way the season is going as it sounded like might have been a penalty try coming there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭testtech05

I wasn't happy with the way killgallen left but wouldn't wish that on him. Looked like maybe a serious shoulder injury.

2 big visits to the 22 now and nothing to show from either. Once we get close we just go so 1 dimensional and with the lack we have it's just not going to work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭testtech05

Much more like it. Lovely score

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭CMcsporty

That was a well worked try.

Question the decision to kick to touch in that position. Worked out well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,372 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Criminal from Carty. Simply has to make touch from that penalty.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭CMcsporty

how could Smith possibly get back to his feet without releasing???

Thought the same he definitely released.

Poor touch miss from jack always probe to them. Stil think he offered a fa mor than JJ in play though
