To be honest, it's a good course, with some great holes, but I found large portions of the course were very forgettable and because there are so many houses surrounding the course, it feels like a resort. The holes around the water are great.

The thing is, I really don't remember much of the course and lot of it just blended together, whereas Sawgrass stuck clearly in my memory

Disastrous start. 2 fairly short putts missed and 2 bogeys

Ya very disappointing , needs to bounce back quickly or otherwise he could drift away.

I haven’t played it but I’ve attended the API (great event and really well organised) and I’d go with this. A very good course, some great holes but some fairly bland and generic ones too. I think firm greens and deep rough makes any course hard to score on for these guys and you just rarely see that week in week out on tour. I think if Arnie wasn’t associated with it they’d all play the event at Innisbrook over this. Totally agree it’s not a patch on Sawgrass, I’ve been lucky enough to play there a couple of times and it’s unreal.

Poor start by Shane, Scheffler could win this going away from the field.

That's in line with what I'd have thought watching, but the NLU guys speak about it like it's some kind of dog.

Thought maybe there was something obvious for that take, but apparently not.

Final day Shane on display again. As I’ve said previously he’s a 54 hole player.

He’ll be taken aside and warned about his language

Ah Shane's bottling it again on the final day. I don't think I want to be watching that. It's a shame.

He’ll come back into it again as the pressure goes off

He’s fuckin cat for it. Saw it live a couple of years ago at the open. Bo gave him the wind and line on one of the holes and he just said to him “sure who gives a ****” loud enough for everyone surrounding the tee to hear. Was really poor form.

Exactly. It’s the difference between him being a very good player and an excellent player. He’s too much of a hot head which he hasn’t been able to shake off over the years.

He needs to treat it as a place of work. You don’t go around a workplace cursing and being petulant. He needs a good talk with himself and maybe then he’ll become consistent.

May go to Liv if he gets the offer wouldn't have to play Sundays.

He's totally out of sorts. 2 holes in a row with really poor chips. Already played himself out of this. Shame.

7 holes played and now 5 shots behind. 2 over already.

Mic is on pre shot but they cut it as soon as he hits it. I guess we won’t hear anymore f bombs

He needs to pull himself together and try and manage solo 3rd

Great shot on 9, anything from second to fifth is still a pretty huge result the way things had been going.

Beating Scheffler at Close to his best head to head was always going to be a big ask

Doing better than Rory McIlroy whose having a nightmare round so far.

Rory hit 3 greens in regulation in 11 holes.

That's true, but given Shane's poor round 4 form and his awful record at Bay Hill a 2nd-5th finish would be an excellent result for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,855 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

It would, but to not even give himself a chance to win going into the last round leading for the 2nd week in a row will really irk him you’d have to think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,329 ✭✭✭Trampas

To late now with hitting them in close. Pressure off and hits them close. He’s done this a lot lately. Just can’t seem to be a player who can run with the leaders in a head to head match. Only Shane knows why it’s happening

Playing great now - come on Shane.

Just the half a million more for 2nd here than winning the Open in 2019!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,985 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Considering he's in on a sponsors invite a top 5 result here would be huge for him.

I think the thread is unbelievable negative to him for some reason - up against the world number 1 - who has had a honeymoon equipment change.

This is an unreal return to form - and it is early in season.

Great stuff - only 1 golfer ahead with a bit more fire power (outside world number 1) - that is Clark - he is ahead of Zalatoris too - who looked unreal all week.
