Are there any specialists in Ireland capable of carrying out such work ?

HB Denis on Swords Road is an EV specialists and when I was getting my alignment done he had the batteries out of Prius and Range Rover on the bench.

Hybrids are not quite the same though. I'd change the hybrid battery in a Prius myself on my driveway. But wouldn't hurt giving them a call to see have they fixed Tesla batteries and if so how much would they charge if the damage was limited to one module.

On a related issue, are there any decent independents in Ireland with experience on the Model S that anyone has used or would recommend. I have one of the out of warranty ones and its probably due a check up soon.

You really don't need a checkup or any servicing apart from the odd mechanical check of the suspension system, the brakes and a change of pollen filter. Any garage can do that.

    Air con refresh.

    Suspension check.

Brake pad check making sure they are not sticking.

Two Model S coming up in Wilson’s Auctions this week, a 75D and an 85. Be interesting to see what kind of money they make post no more RHD announcement

Just checked the listings and theres an ID4 too. Interesting.

My spidey senses trigger here: I'd imagine the ID4 might have some hidden issues like previous accident damage. I can't think of any other reason why an ID4 wouldn't be at a main dealer lot instead.

The S85 also looks like the rear seats had a pigeon shat on them

ID4 pricing dropping like stones in the last few weeks. Check out DD and some of the main dealers. Substantially dropped compared to a few months ago.

It could also be a high miler or ex. PSV now that I think of it. But great to see the prices finally becoming more affordable.

So the trade in quote just came in now.... Tesla have offered me a whopping €11,400 haha.

I thought it might be a "PFO" price, but there wasn't even a please with that quote.

I wonder is this the record for the worst ever trade in offer from Tesla 🤣

Can’t be PSV yet. We bought 2. 2021 was the first and there’s a 3 year rule before they can be sold. So maybe next year.

FFS. I thought mine was the most insulting ever. But you have most certainly taken the crown. What are you planning to buy next? I'd say @ELM327 will buy his car back from you 😁

    Hi,

I am in the market for a Tesla Model S100D. There are a few 2018 models for around €46k. Does anyone know what these are actually selling for?

Also, as the S is a fairly wide car at nearly 2 metres, has anyone had any issues with Irish parking spaces?

    https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/tesla-model-3-2017-sedan-vs-tesla-model-s-2016-liftback/front/

    Thanks a million.

Hi, yes some city centre car parks can be problematic, the Model S is one of the biggest cars on the road (wider than Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-series, etc.)

I don't really follow the market for used Model S as closely as I did before, but the huge dip in values we got a few months ago seems to have gone now. Was most likely people with new Teslas on order who were under pressure to sell. Although I have no idea why this hasn't sold, it's been for sale for many months. It's a bit rough and high miles, but a lot of car for the money and still has 2 years of battery / drivetrain warranty left

To add to @webdev good question related to price, here’s one on serviceability.

Im contemplating an S, battery size is not a concern. If say a 2016/17 car needs work- like it won’t start, or other problem that’s not mechanical and can’t be fixed by a good mechanic what do you do ?

Try get a service appointment through the app? Which isn’t great if you’re without a car. How long are you likely to wait to have communication and to get the car fixed and it will have to be transported to Sandyford ?

Im lucky with the i3 that a good friend of mine has done a lot of work of them, has bought new carbon fibre shells and made a good one from one that was damaged in a crash etc so there isn’t much that I couldn’t get fixed. I know if I rang bmw telling them my out of warranty i3 failed to start I could be waiting 6+ weeks, but at least I have a work around.

    Thanks 👍🏻

Isn't that a universal problem on all cars, diesel, petrol, hybrid or electric?

The good thing is that electric cars go wrong far less often than combustion cars. The pre-facelift Model S has a lot of known issues, but the facelift cars, like the one you are looking to buy, are very well made. I have both an i3 and a facelift Model S BTW. Prefer to take the i3 on most drives though 😁

    Sooo,

There's a decent chance I'll be selling my 2016 S90D in the next month or two.

I'll be likely moving to America with work. I contemplated parking the car up for some potential future return, but I think selling makes more sense.

I'd give first refusal to @ELM327 of course, but fyi @webdev too ;)

She's not for everyone as has 235k Kms on her, but it's an amazing car that's given zero trouble and fantastic to drive.

Would anyone hazard a guess at a fair current selling price?

She has 9 months manufacturers warranty on motor, drivetrain and battery from Tesla, so a safe purchase despite the mileage.

Has autopilot, premium interior, premium connectivity, upgraded MCU, new break pads, discs and AC, and had a suspension refresh before I bought her.

More to follow, but just thought I'd post this for now.

Difficult car to value. The donedeal valuation tool for what its worth suggests 27k private sale and 22k trade value.

The miles and age work against it, and you'd be cross shopped against early M3 SR, but as I know well there's been a fair bit of money spent on the car so it's not likely to need much niggly maintenance going forward for the next while.

I'm giving some consideration and seeking the boss's opinion/approval on making some sort of offer.

Jeez, the amount of new Model S coming in is very high, would not have thought we'd have that many taking a LHD

I doubt they are really "in transit arriving soon". So not really coming in. Perhaps they are unsold stock from other EU countries, perhaps Tesla have overestimated demand in the UK for LHD cars and can't sell them there.

Either way, only a hard core Tesla fanboi with more money than sense would buy a LHD car for over €100k here...

As you say, very hard to value, but I think it would be a tall order to get €27k in a private sale. Also the Tesla battery and drivetrain warranty is almost up, which will deter a lot of potential buyers. If @BigAl81 is serious about selling, he needs to put it up for sale immediately with a sharp price and take the best offer

This 2017 car has been for sale for many months, from a garage so with an implied warranty for asking €29.9k and it's not selling (not sure why, mind, that's a pretty decent price). What hope would you have for a 2016 car in a private sale with (almost no) warranty for €27k?

I considered taking my X that I had reserved but was told they didnt arrange financing. I don't have that much cash, far from it, so that made my decision quite easy!

Yes I dont think it's worth 27k either, just posting what the tool suggested. To be honest I think the "trade value" it listed is probably close to actual value or even above it. I'm going to the i5 launch event in enniscorthy on Saturday and will decide after that whether I'll make an offer to buy severus back or go forward with an i5 or something else (It's basically an either/or, change the car or buy my solar carport

Tesla have started to drop their one that's been on sale for months on end but theirs is a D and has Enhanced Driving, still too expensive mind

It's not a D, it's a boggo 75, with EAD. 2017. Exact same car as my own, but mine has FSD

Tesla had that car for sale in February for €60k and they offered me €23k for mine at the same time

Price of theirs has been dropping steadily, now down to under €40k, the car has very low miles
