I was with Vodafone previously using Getflix. They do offer fixed IP address for €6 per month, I ordered this through chat at the time.

I've switched ISP to Arden and they did me a deal for fixed IP address at no extra cost per month.

My sister uses Getflix on Sky BB - They don't offer fixed IP address so I set her up with NO-IP as suggested above and it's been working perfectly for over two years now for her

    Thanks folks. Much appreciated.

I have getflix set up on the firestick rather than the router (wasn't sure if putting it on the router would affect working from home/accessing work files) so not sure that will work. But thanks for the suggestion and the detail.

You don't have to put your Getflix DNS settings on your router. I just have Getflix on the streaming devices. I don't want all my traffic going through it.

You just need your No-IP details on the router and your Getflix account settings, that way they can talk to each other and update automatically. I've had it set up for a few years now and it works flawlessly. You just have to renew the No-IP hostname every month when they email you (unless you want to pay).

I use controld.com which offers secure DNS over HTTPS, or DoH. Where a streaming device supports this protocol, I use it on AppleTV, it means that the service automatically copes with IP changes.

    Hi folks

I'm having an issue with Eir TV and the RTE Player. They won't load if I'm using Getflix. Has anyone come across a similar issue?

The Eir TV app is running on Apple TV.

I came across a similar issue with controld.com, when the uk services (e.g. BBC IPlayer) were redirected. With controld.com you can log each request and I could see that the eirTV requests were all being redirected to the uk. I was able to set an exemption for each sub- domain but it took time and was a right PITA. (Meanwhile Wifey was NOT HAPPY, when some TV channels weren't working.)

What I do now is use controld.com on the Tv itself, rather than the AppleTV. This means that I access the UK services on the TV, rather than the Apple TV. However I cannot find a way to use DOH with the LG TV.

IF you have getflix set at the device level rather than on the router here is a solution. Have you got two wifi bands (2.4 and 5)? if you do then only set one of them to use the getflix DNS. Then switch between wifi bands depending on whether or not you want to use RTE player.

Anyone else unable to watch uk amazon prime recently?

It was working up until a few days ago. I'm getting an error code 1061.

When I switch to the Irish prime on the getflix website, it works OK.

Similar. On the firestick I use getflix set to uk and can watch shows directly from the front page but when try open the prime video app getting error 1061.

    Iplayer works fine with getfix

I was getting the 1061 error too. I resolved it by deregistering the devices from my Amazon account and signing back into them.

Getflix has been pretty troublesome on and off for the past month. I went on me around 7pm last night before kicking back in soon after

I am having the same issues with Prime UK via Getflix. Deregistering and reregistering did not work for me

BBC iPlayer and ITVX are still working for me. And Prime UK will work fine if I use Windscribe VPN. (this is just a PIA for family usage)

    Getflix support suggested the following:

Please remove the Smart DNS set up on your device and then restart it once. After the restart, reconfigure the Smart DNS. Use the closest Smart DNS IP from your location.

You can refer to this link for the instructions: https://www.getflix.com.au/setup/dns-servers.

After reconfiguring the Smart DNS, please log in to your Getflix account and click the Update IP button. Wait for 5 minutes before trying to access the supported services.

when that didn't work they asked for many screenshows, then suggested:

Please try deregistering your device and register it back again, You can follow the instructions : https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201357520

    Then try the following:

    1. Set your Amazon Prime region to other regions at https://www.getflix.com.au/manage/regions then Press the update button.

    2. Then switch it again to the Amazon Prime region you want to access.

    3. log in to your Smart DNS account and reactivate your IP or reactivate once

    4. Restart your device then try Amazon again

None of the above has worked

To be honest, I am delighted to hear via this thread that its not just me. I think I will try the deregistering and reregistering again

Vodafone fibre is not Getflix friendly if your preference is to put getflix DNS on the firestick itself. Vodafone router seems to override the getflix DNS on the firestick.

Turkish Prime (38 cent a month) works fine with and without Getflix as it doesn't seem to be geoblocked. Not sure whether there is much difference between Turkish and UK catalogue.

Hadn’t realised it was going up. That’s a big jump but not totally unexpected I suppose given the crazy inflation rate there. The price in euro had actually fallen over time due to lira depreciation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 531 ✭✭✭cathy427

Thanks. It was working fine on the firestick and is still working fine for BBC and ITV.

Still getting the same 1061 error on Prime Video. Try all the options above but no joy.

Has anyone else got around the 1061 error on Prime? Or is Amazon just cracking down on getflix?

Did you do anything else? Other dereg and then rereg?

I did that and still getting same error.

Is your getflix set up through the firestick or on the router?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,924 ✭✭✭Nforce

I cleared the Data and cache first, but it made no difference. Dereg and re-reg did the trick for me, however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 531 ✭✭✭cathy427

Ok. thanks. Frustrating that didn't work for me. Have you getflix on the firestick (rather than the router)

Thanks. It is set up through the firestick. Not sure but think setting it on the router might cause issues with working from home and accessing work stuff.

Amazon have very complex/weird rules around the prime video membership - the same account might have prime on multiple sites. Contact CS to see what country your prime-video account is actually registered in.

If you have two wifi bands (2.4 and 5) then only set the Getflix up on on the Firestick for one of them. Allow the other wifi band to make a normal connection to the router. Now in Firestick setting pick the wifi band that Getflix is NOT set up on. Then try Prime again. If it works then you'd need to use that wifi band each time you want to use Prime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭Trevord

The above works as a solution for Disney and Paramount so might address your Prime issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 531 ✭✭✭cathy427

Thanks for that, really appreciate it. Will give it a go when I get home.

I am guessing I need to log into the router to turn on two bands and then connect effectively to two different wifi networks. Am I understanding that properly or are bands different to networks. Sorry for all the baby questions

If I pick the one (wifi band, I assume connect to that means pick that network) that getflix is not on then will I just get the Prime as if I am travelling? I have a UK account.

Not every router broadcasts on two frequencies - most of the newer high speed fibre routers do - older ones tend to have 2.4 only. if two wifi frequencies exist you should be able to see them when you scan for wifi networks on your computer or the firestick. (check the model of the router to see whether it has two frequencies). I would doubt that you'll have to enable anything on the router, Some allow you to change the SSID for 2.4 and 5 (SSID is the name of the wifi network) to given them unique names to make it easier to tell the two frequencies apart, which can be handy.

I've only started following this thread so haven't read through all of it. I suggest you setup a guest network and use that exclusively for your getflix tricking.

Thanks for that. There was an option in the broadband app to turn on the two frequencies.

    Did that.

Connected to both with getflix only on one.

Chose the one that getflix was NOT on.

Opened the prime app and it worked but only gave me the option to see shows that were available when travelling. (limited selection)

Added getflix to the new frequency. Tried Prime and it gave me the same error which is - cant load profiles. But without clicking into the app I could view Prime shows directly from the home page of the firestick. These were shows I could not view when "travelling" above so it seemed to be accepting the getflix dns.

Have cleared the cache and dereg and rereg the firestick but when try the prime app am getting the same cant load profiles error.

I do have access to BBC Iplayer so the getflix settings on the firestick are working for that.

    Am I missing something small?
