Well I won't ever watch it if those despicable people are playing and there's lots of people like me.

I will never give an ounce of support to anybody who considers money more important than the rights of LGBTQIA and women. Who don't care about the attrocities and war crimes in Yemen and the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

If you take that money you are attempting to help these people sportwash their image. Every player would have been made well aware of this, if they didn't know already, before joining that tour.

The DP World Tour will be an infinitely better spectacle if the likes of Koepka, Smith, DJ, Mickelson, Garcia were able to compete on it too. Just imagine having those guys on some of the regular Euro tour stops at the Irish/French Open. Immediately a better product to watch and more entertaining.

I get your point about human rights but at the end of the day i'm tuning in to watch golf not worry about every single players political stances and whether or not they're whiter than white.

A strong DP World Tour is the best chance we have of seeing golf in person. Like the Irish Open. I fear the future is bleak though. With the money in LIV and PGA Tour what chance has the DP World Tour got in the medium to long term.

I'll still support the DP World Tour, i was at the Irish Open last year and ill be going again this year.

Whilst money is for sure a big reason, the decimation of DP ranking points and Top 10 into the PGA Tour all but finished the DP Tour.

It's a pure feeder now with the odd big money/name event

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,942 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well I was always like that but this thing is just too much to ignore for me.

I watch the PGA tour carefree and I'm loving that.

Have to say though that I'm very proud to see an Irishman standing tall against it, not just speaking out but leading the way.

Pressure is a funny thing, never thought I'd say a double bogey putt was clutch but here we are.

Lombard had 6 bogeys today and finished 1 shot off a possible playoff. Real pity for him.

-8 from Tom McKibbin this morning to lead midway through the first round of the Singapore Classic

I'm a fan of the man since following him at the Irish Open in Lahinch a few years ago. I watched his back nine on the Saturday. I thought he was going to win it after watching him but he fell away on the Sunday.

The 17th at Amata Spring CC in Thailand. Proper island green, need a boat trip to get to it.

No event for a month. Pelley must be proud of the job he’s done that middle of summer and not one event for a month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,099 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Think they had a few Co Sanctioned pga tour events in the US.

Yep, The barbasol and barracuda events which played underside to the Scottish open and open championship were co-sanctioned events. Couple of DP world tour players did well at the barracuda

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,421 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Although he's right as well. From the barracuda to the isps handa, it's a 4 week gap with no official dp world tour tournament on the schedule.

2024 dates announced and pelley has announced swings everywhere to try and make something out of nothing.

Irish open in September the week before bmw. Abu Dhabi the week before final event so trying to get the main players over for the final events by making them Rolex

Crazy that the Irish open and BMW aren't included for the Ryder Cup qualification.

R2D points are slightly better for the smaller events and more 5,000 events towards the back end of the season so hopefully it helps in determining the best player over the season rather than the current way where basically if Mcilroy or Rahm play well in the majors it's already over.

Would rather they went further and made the smallest events 4k and those back 9 events 6k...its way too suited to the big players who only bother playing two or three regular events.

Decent field for Galgorm this weekend, anyone going to it?

Few big names in it, I suppose they have nowhere else to play.

Wouldn’t call it a decent field bar a couple of names. 11 points for winner. Challenge tour ranked player of 30 getting his name on timesheet. Shane playing next 2 weeks. Why skip this one as only up the road from home

If prize money remains roughly the same like this year re 2024 DP World Tour schedule (and that would appear to be case) then I can see a lot of players on the tour try their luck with PGA Tour and LIV golf q-school later in the season.

Looks like despite all the fanfare that Keith Pelley and his DP World tour lapdogs were acclaiming on the media and social media channels yesterday, that the DP World Tour is sinking further and further towards a lame duck "elite tour".

More like a feeder tour for LIV and PGA Tour nowadays. Well done Keith Pelley for his role in helping to ensure declining standards for this once proud tour.

Decent for a challenge tour event including some great female golfers.

Terrible day for the Irish. With some players still to finish their second round, Tom McKibbin (+2) is in 42nd place and will probably be the only one of the eleven Irish (32C) players to make the cut.

I see former Taoiseach Enda Kenny at the trophy presentation for the ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle which was won in great style by Englands Daniel Brown.

What a crowd of useless idiots Sky are cutting off the recording at the scheduled time rather than continuing to the end of play. How hard can it be? They do do it sometimes. Incompetent fools.

Only three of the victorious Ryder Cup team playing this weekend. I guess playing at least three (and possibly four) rounds of golf in four balls with amateurs was a bit much for most of them to take on after a very charged weekend in Italy.

The governor of PIF, Yasir Al-Rumayyan is playing in the amateur section with Peter Uihlein. Out in the same group as the head of the R&A Martin Slumbers.

Hopefully a good week for Mark Power and John Murphy who had his best finish in this event previously; huge prize money and average field so could be a season changing week if you can get a top 10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,783 ✭✭✭Trampas

Never mind 5+ hour rounds in what could be wild Scottish weather.

Mark Power had a solid week. Picked up another decent check and is up inside the top 200 on the race to dubai. Hopefully it gives him the confidence to.push on in Q-School

New video from the European tour. Andy Sullivan playing the Belfry with just a 5 iron. Seems to be playing off the member tees rather than the pro tees but I am still amazed at how many tap-in pars that he had

Indicative of how poor the European tour is that McIlroy who has only played 9 events (of course played very well in those, including two rolex series) but has already won the R2D before the final event.

Meanwhile Meronk, who has won 3 events this season, including the Italian open and Andalucia masters and played in 23 events and made 18 cuts doesn't have a chance going into the final event!

I get McIlroy and Rahm bring glamour to the events they play on the European tour but it really is insulting that they can play 9 and 7 events respectively and be number 1 and 2. (Were they to play a similar number on the PGA / FedEx tour, they'd be nowhere near the top).

The idea that McIlroy could be compared to Monty as per that article is ludicrous imo, so much easier for the likes of Rahm and McIlroy to win the R2D, so much so, that's its become meaningless imo

I have nothing against McIlroy, I just hate that the top golfers like him and Rahm are given such a ridiculous leg up over the course of the season on the DPWT
