Strange, the card on the site says 6 Games played, while the downloaded version posted here says 15.

Trying to decide which would belong on the wall of shame: high numbers of hours or low number? 😀

I managed just over two hours a week this year.

I didn't play much on PS this year, but I did play a lot of 2K21 Golf, on the Boards club, usually by myself 😆

In my defence, and while throwing shade as MS, I have spent quite a bit of time on Gamepass this year too. But MS don't do this wrap up as far as I'm aware. The year before I didn't have Xbox. And it still doesn't include the amount of time I spend on Netflix/Crunchyroll, etc either. I need to up them numbers, or MS need to tell me how much of my time I gave them!

Seems TrueAchievements does something, but doesn't give the time played. But if it's right, in 2022, on Xbox:

    37 games played, 416 Achievements, 7396 GS.

You can get time played on the Xbox site, but it's convoluted and no filtering. But I've discovered this much, which doesn't include every game I've played so maybe another 50 or so hours on top of:

    • Powerwash Simulator - 82 hours
    • Hardspace : Shipbreaker - 79 hours
    • Forza Horizon 5 - 31 hours
    • Vampire Survivors - 22 hours (Yikes... it did not feel that long!)
    • Ori and the Will of the Wisps - 23 hours
    • Ori and the Blind Forest - 11 hours

So, at least another 300 hours on Xbox.

Oh, and Elden Ring, I tried it. But not for me.

Pretty sure Microsoft does one but it's a little closer to year end.

You could be doing a lot worse with your time and money than gaming!!

I'm sure some people look at those numbers and think I don't have a life. And they're right. When one doesn't socialise because they don't drink, and spends 98% of their life in the waking hours of 4pm to 9am, there's plenty time for gaming! Thankfully I'm interested in something which doesn't require me to leave the house. Power outages are my Ragnarok.

Actually surprised myself with the amount of time I got to play games this year, I'm up 66% on last year. Not exactly massive numbers though:

Tales of Arise - 82 hours

    Spiderman - 43 hours

    GTA5 - 28 hours

    Fortnite - 24 hours

    Stray - 21 hours

I'm actually happy I'm getting the value out of the console if I'm being honest.

Thought it was a bit less on Elden Ring but I did do a couple of NG+ and platinum 🤣

My numbers tell me I really need to stop playing a game for a couple of hours and leaving it on the pause menu until I remember it's been left on some hours later. Think my total time would be almost cut in half! 😅

Yeah MS make you manually do it which is a pain in the hole and its not done on yearly etc. Though with the amount of free advertising this and spotify wrapped etc does it seems mad to not do it really

It wouldn't directly make them money so I don't think they care.

1600+ hrs logged last year, long covid and getting to A+/S in GT7 are to blame

Without elden ring I doubt I would have had as many hours. Loved the game. 92 hrs in GT7. Enjoyed that as well even if the economy is a bit scabby.

The others in the list are ~20hrs each, the rest must be random PS+ titles. I try give a few of them a go

Think the clock is a bit off but finished a heap of games this year, think around 40. Got through a heap of the backlog as well.

Don't think I'll be able to match it next year.

    Had 1273 hours in 2020.

    954 hours in 2021.

    Top 5 Games

HFW, God of War R, COD MWII, GT7 and Elden Ring(Will probably be No 1 by the time I finish it).

I knew I had a addiction to GT7. I thought Battlefield should have been high. Maybe its not counting the online time with it.

Despite the hate it seems to get, I loved Far Cry New Dawn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,395 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Of all the Far Cry's since 3, that's the one U enjoyed the most. That is until the end boss when I realised how underlevelled I was and had to go do other missions to level up which annoyed me so i just quit. It's being added to PS Plus Extra this month so will give it a go again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,085 ✭✭✭✭Kintarō Hattori

It was good but the one I enjoyed most was Far Cry 5. I've played that through a few times now. It's just the setting, I love it.

I loved the first region of FC 5, then the north was fun though but the east was just too much of the same thing repeated. Great driving around that map though. Poty FC 6 couldn't capture any of the magic of the previous games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,395 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Forgot that FC Primal is coming to Extra as well, i never played that, is it worth a go?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭Paul MCM

I played this when it originally was out and really enjoyed. I will definitely go back and play this again. What date is out on Extra?

The Edge is the same size, the same shape, and has the same buttons and joysticks as far as my fingers can tell. Only now, you get two kinds of rear paddles, adjustable hair triggers, swappable stick tops (including the classic PlayStation domes), the ability to remap almost every button on the controller and adjust joystick sensitivity curves, new dedicated function keys to hot-switch profiles, and — get this — toolless quick-swap stick modules so you can replace a broken joystick in 30 seconds flat.I spent two hours at PlayStation's US headquarters trying all of the above, and unless there are hidden flaws or the battery runs out mid-session, I'm pretty sure this will be the best PS5 controller you can buy for $200.

    Textures

In case you missed my story in February 2021, I'll catch you up: every Sony DualSense controller is covered in 40,000 tiny PlayStation symbols. They're what you feel when you hold a PS5 gamepad, and here, they feel even better because the ones under your fingertips are made to be grippier. The triggers are now stippled with the PlayStation symbols for added purchase, the touchpad's dappled with them, too, and — like competitors in this price tier — the inside grips are rubber instead of plastic.

    Buttons and Joysticks

Whether you loved or hated the DualSense's buttons and joysticks, you should know they largely haven't changed mechanically. I brought along my PS5 launch controller from home and Sony provided another, and the only discernible difference I could feel with the DualSense Edge was that the sound of pressing a button was slightly deadened. Perhaps they're more precise, but I couldn't tell in my demos. What jazzed me, though, is that you can now rip off the caps of your joysticks to swap in an old-school convex dome instead, just like the sticks that shipped with your PS3, PS2, and later PS1s. The Edge comes with four of them at two different heights, though I'm sure I'd only use one — I'm totally going to run a Frankenstein setup with one convex cap and one concave one for comfy movement and precision aiming at the same time.

    Battery Life

The DualSense Edge wireless controller's operating time is moderately shorter than the original DualSense wireless controller because we've included many more features within the same form factor and ergonomic design as the original DualSense controller. We wanted to strike a good balance between wireless operating time and delivering robust, high-performance features. Additionally, the longer USB braided cable is also great for competitive players who prefer playing with a wired connection to avoid wireless interference – this option preserves battery life.

How, HOW, does the €240 controller have a WORSE battery life than the €70 controller. With what they are charging they couldn't have managed a better one?

Also something tells me the word 'moderately' is doing an awful lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,547 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

The most remarkable thing in that article is that they had to highlight the fact that plugging your controller in with a USB cable “preserves battery life”.

    Jesus wept.

I'm sold... The swappable sticks alone may make it worth it. My newer DS has sudden severe left stick drift. I've a toolkit from IFixIt on the way, will open her up and hopefully just something stuck. But with the amount of hours I put in, and the reported lifespan of a DualSense is ~420 hours, and I've over 2000 since it launched and over 3 controllers (one traded for the black one, it was still working when traded). Looking forward to the paddles. Yeah, I'm sold on it. Makes financial sense to me, as long as everything else keeps working on it, sticks aside.

Don't think I'll get much use out of those function buttons, most likely just use the headset volume feature. I rarely, if ever, change around button mapping. Maybe because I never had a choice on console before.

The swappable sticks are the exact same sticks in the current DS controller so they are still liable to drift.

It's a con job from Sony, use a poor component (same as other manufacturers) but charge the customer an extortionate amount to buy the controller and then allow them to buy a replacement part for €20.
