    Women's draw

    Men's draw

Final grand slam of the year, let's hope it's a good one!

Draw due around 5pm today if past year's are anything to go by. Looks likely at this stage that Djokovic definitely won't be taking part.

    And now official

He'll be back in Australia I'm sure.

Who's the favourite on the men's side now? Feel like it's the most open it's been for a long time.

The GOAT race is going to be decided by Djokovic being unwilling to get a vaccination. I bet nobody predicted that a few years ago.

I honestly think when all is said and done he'll still end up at the top of the list, and he'll still be very competitive up till the age of 40. I mean compare how relatively injury free he's been compared to Nadal and Federer at similar ages, he'll be the favourite at Australian Open and Wimbledon for years to come.

Another slam chance gone for Nole! If he was early 30s you could think he’d get several more chances. But he’s 35 I think.

Nadal will most likely win this one, but it's sad to see a large proportion of his fans gloating that Djokovic won't be there, wouldn't they rather Nadal beat him in the final ? to really cement his place as the GOAT?

Or do they know he would have little chance v Djokovic on hard ?

I'd have given Nadal a chance against Djokovic in New York, he has won the tournament four times. Not disputing Djokovic would've been the favourite though.

Haven't really done much analysis of the draws yet, but Raducanu has an absolutely horrific one. Will likely lose to Cornet in the first round, Alize is always up for a big scalp.

Poor Raducanu, the expectation laid on her is nuts, BBC and the British tabloids have destroyed her.

Havent seen any nadal fans gloating? Where was that? Rafa has a 2-1 lead against Novak in the Us open. Im sure hed have had a good chance. Novak has had a poor year away from the grass. Medvedev is favourite at the moment.

    on TTW,

Nadal hasn't beaten Djokovic in 19 meetings on hard court ..

last time he bet him on hard was 2013...

And only one of those losses was in a grand slam also 9 , not 19 . Last us open win was for Rafa. Djokovic would have been favourite of course. But after the year hes had it would be silly to think Nadal would have little chance of beating him.

    Sorry, 9 yeah.

Nadal has been lucky if I'm honest, he had an easy draw in AO and FO, and Medvedev had him in the final and completely bottled it (btw that has broken him and in my opinion he'll never win a grandslam again)

FO is his garden and for sure GOAT on clay ...

US he seems to have yet another easy draw - but anyway, it's done, he will be 2 ahead of Djokovic in the slam race, there is a glimmer if Djokovic can win AO and Wimby next year of course, but Nadal has easily 2/3 more French opens in him.

    a pity

Big difference between 9 and 19. As well only 1 of those 9 was in a grand slam. where nadal is at his best. Nadal played extremely well against medvedev. Djokovic by contrast was hammered in his last final against him. An easy draw at the french?? FAA , Djokovic and Zverev and then the AO?? As in the final against the no 2 seed who just months before hammered Djokovic in the us open final? Nadal is 7/2 to win btw , a lot of money to be made on your sure thing. He doesnt have an easy draw in the us open although i doubt you have even checked.

Ah but with the British sports media it’s either the expectation keeps building like it did with henman and Murray or like like raducanu she wins early and the pressure is there. I don’t have an issue with raducanu as she seems like a nice person and very grounded for age. But yeah Alize Cornet is a rough draw for her.

alcarez Vs Norrie in the mens draw was a pairing I was drawn to straight away.

He has it won, and I have put money on him.

Your point regarding Medvedev, the Medvedev that beat Djokovic in the USO final was no where near the same player as in the AO final.

Anyway look, enjoy the win, your man has it won .. I don't want to get crammed down in an argument , like how many angels can dance on a pin head ??

I have my opinion, you have yours ... done .

Hope Raducanu can at least get over the first round, but, she's gotten a very awkward draw. She's facing a huge drop in the rankings, she could be down around the 80's if she loses in the first round. It's probably a fairer reflection of where she is really at, her current ranking is completely inflated by winning last year. The only positive is she has very little points to defend over the next year, so can rise up the rankings again at a more steady pace.

To say nadal has it won is fairly mad imo. Anyway we will see , enjoy the tennis!

Indeed! , presumably Amazon have it again this year ? I[ve been watching the masters 1000 on amazon ... nice coverage

I would have only my made Nole a slight favorite over Rafa here. I also happen to think that had Nadal played his SW19 semi, he beats Nick in 3, and gives Nole a real run for his money in the final…

No way this slam is a Rafa certainty.

And we are off and running. Murray broke in the first game.

Murray taking charge in the first now after being broke in the first game of the match. 4-1 up in the first now.

Murray battling and playing pretty well.

A set and 3-0 up in the second, lovely stuff.

Nice to see Kyle Edmund back playing a big match in singles at a major, but you would fear for him against Ruud...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,411 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Murray through really nice to see.

Edmund down a set and now a break.

Some win for Daria Snigur over Halep, first match in a grand slam main draw too. Halep just getting to that age now where a bit more rust sets in and more prone to off days.

People getting outraged on behalf of someone who clearly isnt outraged by it at all.

Terrific battling win for Dart against the tenth seed Kasatkina, I thought tide had really turned when she lost second set 6-1! She also had to come back in third set and saved two set points in the first set.

Draper through to round 2 very comfortable.
