Myself and family were at the one day festival in Fitzgerald Park, Cork and we got a temperature reading there of 28.5 degrees so I consider that pretty warm.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

43c last weekend but was really only 37c,, lake mead in California drying up…true, but more electricity being made from the dams to cover the higher electric usage.

we had 6 inch of rain last Friday in 4 hours. Not a record that would be 15 inches of rain in 6 hours.

summer here has been cooler rainier and less tornadic activity.

Ireland getting one DAY of warm weather is hardly ground breaking. Remember the 70s? Weeks on end of HOT weather….

All preparing us for climate lockdowns, we've had months of a soft lockdown thanks to healthy workers being off with covid on the taxpayers dime

I remember summers in the mid 2000s where we got weeks worth of 27 degrees and I don't think there was any media hysteria about it that time. I've stopped looking at Irish news it will only annoy me lol

I’m fucken sick off the media and government.

MM on RTE now saying these high temperatures have never been seen before and all to do with climate change.

Next line Met Eireann say the hottest temperature was in 1887 in Kilkenny which is the record.

**** off with this nonsense and scaremongering.

The record in 1800s was an anomoly, like the hot summer of 76. The world is getting hotter. Why do you lot think they would lie about climate change being real? Do you think it's all a scam to take your money or something?

It was 47c in Portugal the other day, much of it is on fire now, and UK set to see temperatures 40c+ in the coming days.

Indeed they'll be very eager to wheel out the hosepipe ban soon but they'll have a hard time justifying it given the recent & impending downpours. I'm actually surprised they didn't at least prepare the populace for one in the earlier dry spell this year.

The whole concept of a hosepipe ban fits in nicely with the ideas of "damn you ordinary people for being alive / water charges are coming / global warming" while covering up the ineptitude of politicians who consistently under-invested in creaking infrastructure over the course of decades in the face of an increasing popuplation

4 decades of climate hysterics predicting disasters that never came, fuel prices shooting through the roof, reliance on foreign fuel because our politicians priced our own fuel out of the market or outright banned it, joe taxpayers hard earned cash pissed up against the wall on pixie dust climate projects, why on earth would we think that we're being scammed? 😂

how has climate change made fuel prices go through the roof worldwide? what climate projects has money been wasted on?

Worst I found was working in a modern office with state of the art air conditioning and it working perfectly during excess heat and then you get moanbag women complaining about it being too cool despite it not going below 20 degrees and this proved by Building Maintenance monitoring it around the building. Reason they find it cool is they are coming to work in basically nothing more than beach clothing while the men have no choice but to wear shirt and tie as per employment contract in which case mens maximum temperature needs should always come first 😂

You’ll need it at sometime…the way temperatures are going..

I just turned both mine off to give them a bit of downtime…..on non stop since midday.

Can I get a job in that office with the women wearing beach clothes?

A lot of anti-scientific “we’ve had enough of experts” bollocks being spouted in this thread.

Temperatures have been trending upwards consistently due to climate change. Look at the state of Europe right now. Portugal in flames and you’ve a load of blinkered eejits in here saying it’s all a conspiracy.

Would make you worry for the future of the planet.

I just find it a little galling that those who deny climate change probably won't ever have even a moment where they go, "Ah, maybe I was wrong this whole time.", but instead will just go straight to trying to kill people with a hatchet in order to commandeer their supply of fresh drinking water.

    How did those fires start?

The fires have scorched thousands of hectares in the south-western Spanish region of Extremadura, where one fire was started on purpose, according to Pedro Muñoz, head of forest policy for the regional government. He said the blaze that broke out in the Valle del Jerte on Saturday night had “clearly been started deliberately” as it had begun at 11pm and originated in two different places.

A 45-year-old Portuguese man with previous convictions for arson has been arrested today following claims by various witnesses that he was seen leaving two areas in Ourém just before wildfires broke out. Both fires started yesterday in the parish of Freixianda. The man will now appear before magistrates for the application of ‘coercive measures deemed appropriate’, said a statement by the PJ.

It's giving a report of 27 degrees for my locality in the weather app. Doesn't feel it, to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm on the coast and have a bit of a sea breeze to take the edge off?

I bought a portable AC unit back in March with the thought that we could hit one of those warm bits of April weather, as well as just for the Summer in general. I'm prepared, at least, if some properly hot weather comes to my locality.

Wish this would happen in Ireland where folks drop kerosene for gorse and walk off as if nothing happened.Next thing you know farmer toms gorse is gone but so is half the county!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,191 ✭✭✭Stephen_Maturin

The incredibly dry and hot conditions have made ripe conditions for such destruction regardless.

And we’re still continuing to see worse forest fires every year in the States, Canada and Australia. Because of Climate change.

Dismayed to see all these presumably middle aged people being so flippant about such a threat to the world their grandchildren will grow up in. Shortsighted and selfish.
