With the furore about Trans and the discussions in the Dail about inward migration. Could the tide finally be turning??

Are the people on the street finally being given a voice from some politicians who realise that this nonsense has to end.

In my opinion, it’s high time that Irish politicians realised that they work for the Irish people, not for NGOs, not for the EU, but for us. We cannot be the saviours of the world, it’s time for a grown up debate on the issues currently facing Ireland and the ones coming down the line.

You seem to be putting yourself forward as a fair/average representation of what the voters want, and therefore able to point out what the politicians should be doing.

Whereas in actuality from your posts here, your political positions are actually very niche and extreme.

There’s no pushback against them, because they aren’t a threat in the first place. 20-odd years of so-called “Conservative” Government parties are who you can blame for the current shìt-show, cos the Left sure as hell weren’t at the steering wheel.

Every major party in Ireland is open borders, internationalism, hug a thug, social welfare for everyone leftists. They may have some minor traditionally “right wing” policies, but they are left wing in everything else.

Open borders isn’t a right wing. Benefits for everyone isn’t right wing. Amnesties for illegals isn’t right wing. Revolving door criminal justice systems aren’t. Non-deportation of illegal criminals isn’t right wing.

why has the government of Ireland built no houses for 30 years? Because of their 'free market' addiction, capitalism before societal needs!

How many years ago was free education actually free? And what % of kids who go to college come from non fee paying schools? PS the answer is out there.

We have a courts system that criminalizes (poor) people for personal use of drugs while turning a blind eye to white collar crime usually well education wealthy individuals. Funny that!

Every major party in Ireland is still very much right wing, and trying desperately to ape leftist politics to stay popular with the people. We’ll have another giveaway budget soon, and that still won’t save them. The people are sick of their antics. It doesn’t matter that referenda on marriage equality and the repeal of the 8th amendment passed on their watch, people are starving, and Government are wondering why can’t they eat cake.

A huge part of our socio-economic wealth is based on international trade and business. We might be an island as a land mass, but in every other way we are not.

You can see the negative impact Brexit and 'pulling up the ladder behind' kind of thinking that the UK has gotten themselves into. We'd be absolute morons to go down a similar route of isolating ourselves from the international community.

Nobody is arguing that we should isolate from the international community, like some form of North Korea. That's just a straw man argument.

And it depends on your outlook. For some, including myself, what the UK has done is reach out to the world rather than remain isolated within the confines of the EU (with the outdated customs union model that belongs to the past).

The far-left is pushing the trans- issue. They speak as if we're all on board with what they're doing.

Polls show that 80%, consistently, disapprove of trans women entering female's competitions. Yes, that's a silent majority compared to the loud minority that's trying to speak on our behalf.

The same principle applies to every other issue, especially Woke-related issues, that the far-left is trying to pursue.

It's absolute nonsense, and people are getting sick to the back teeth of being told what to do, what to say - lest they be a raging racist, homophobe, Islamophobe, transphobe, and every other form of -ism and -phobia not yet listed.

And to the poster who complained about housing supply. The idea that building houses is a left-wing principle is absurd.

We are facing in to the end of 20 years of low interest rates and decades of cheap energy and resources.

That's going to hit people hard. If there are less well to do families, it will hit the activist class.

The left may be forced back to being a working class movement, kicking and screaming.
