+1 for tolltag.ie (parkmagic). I've been with them for a few years now and no problems. Their phone app is good and updates your usage straight away and auto top-up works every time.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

I just looking at signing up for Tolltag.ie as it seems to be the best for LEVTI and trying to decide which option to go for.

Maybe I'm missing something but why pay €30 (less €4.40 credit) for a tag on the pay as you toll plan when the tag is free on the PAYT+ plan?

It's essentially the difference between having auto top-ups or not

Singed up for them there myself, €1 to use the limerick tunnel plus 10c service charge is a 90c saving on the cash price. Costs you nothing if you don't use it... No brainer really

Yes there's a charge in there in the schedule of fees but I've never been charged it when parking

Eflow told me (pun not intended) that their finance department have to manually calculate the saving and attribute it to the account every three months. Gobsmacked.

    Any one used EasyTrip?

Currently have tag for my ICE, and was just going to swap it over....

Their webpage makes it sound straightforward, and not subject to crazy 3 month delays...

It’s not that long ago that the greens were promoting diesel, it’ll be the same for EV’s in a few years, all of a sudden they won’t be environmentally friendly either….,,

I do. Getting the first car as EV took 3 months back in 2019. The second one was just a 5 mins phone call.

You get billed with the discount included

Yep. It's pathetic. And they make a balls of it too, completely forgetting to do it or making mistakes. So if you want your discount, you will have to do a monthly reconciliation yourself. And probably the nightmare of having to spend time on the phone to them explaining where it went wrong and demanding your refund.

Just dump them and go with tolltag.ie / parkmagic and you will automatically get your discount the second you drive through the toll...

In the same boat with eflow, their new IT ‘upgrade’ makes understanding your tolls and invoices like an exam.

I’ll probably move tag provider to toll tag or similar. Has anyone else moved and is the ev discount still straight forward to get if you’ve been registered already with another provider? I don’t want to move and find I can’t apply because I have already with a different company, but to be fair I’m not getting the proper discount from eflow so wouldn’t be much different…

Toll tag companies do not share data. You just sign up with tolltag.ie, making sure your car is classified as a full EV. Then enjoy the discounts being applied immediately when you pass through the tolls every time 😁

Except they'll be getting more environmentally friendly as eirgrid move towards 80% renewables and more domestic Solar PV is installed

If you move from Eflow to Toll Tag, does that mean that the new tag is linked to the original application for the toll discount, or does it mean a new application for the same vehicle? In other words can the 50,000 vehicles limit be reduced twice for the same car?

I hope not but given the IT shambles at Eflow I can't imagine how they would be able to manage this.

No car is environmentally friendly. We need to think about where we build houses and the type of vulgar monstrosities that you see being built, should we be encouraging people to buy cars or should we be looking at the lack of a proper public transport system….

Another month, another email to/from eFlow. Have started the process to move to TollTag, just want to get the outstanding balance I'm owed returned.

    Good morning xx,

    Thank you for contacting eFlow.

I can advise you that we are aware that there is an issue with the LEVTI rebates and that our operations team is currently looking at LEVTI in it's entirety due to the incorrect rebates being applied to some accounts. I can also confirm that we will apply the rebates once the issue is corrected. Thank you kindly for your patience in this matter.

If you require any further changes please do not hesitate to contact us.

They've been saying that for about 2 years LOL

Apparently they keep wearing the numerical text off the calculator buttons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,473 ✭✭✭crisco10

Not to be too cynical, but what incentive do they have to fix it now? If the rebate stops end of 2022, they only have 3 or 4 more cycles of manual rebate to go.

The rebate stops for new entrants. Us innovators / very early adopters will keep this perk forever 😂

    You wish! 😀

Its both money (€2m) and time limited (currently 31/12/2022).

It has to be extended each budget so can be pulled at any time for everyone. And currently limited to first 50k EV's which cant be too far away either?

The purpose is to get people into EV's so once the first 50k are in, there is little benefit to the govt to keep "paying" those 50k owners since they already have EV's... they'll need to incentivise the next 50k so its anyones guess what happens once the 50k mark is hit. Its all down to the minister of the day and what he sees as good value for money to achieve his goals.

It'll be a while before €2m subsidy is granted to the first 50k customers I'd say! But are you saying that the whole subsidy for everyone is stopped at the end of this year at the latest, that's new to me, any linky for that?

    • "continuation of the Low Emission Vehicle Toll Incentive Scheme"

I cant find an end date, but i think they are just kicking down a year every year.

I havent even got to use it yet, got one in march 20, but the farthest ive been was belfast!

I'm in the unfortunate location in Lucan that if I want to go to Blanchardstown (barely 5km as the crow flies) and I don't want to spend forever on the backroads, I have to cross the M50 toll. Or go to the airport, etc.

Dublin must be the only capital city in Europe where you pay toll on the ring road that is supposed to keep people away from minor congested roads in or around the city 🙄

The €2m is a limit not a target.

The scheme is basically a yearly scheme determined at budget time for the following year and like all the other incentives can be pulled at any stage for everyone.

Probably a few more years in it all the same. But it is the ministers gift as to whether the date gets extended each budget.

The Dartford crossing on the London ring road is similarly barrier free and charges a toll of £2-£2.50 per car

How much waste do you get from building a battery?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,585 ✭✭✭cannco253

Did the DT just update the website to show 31/12/22? I'm sure it was 31/12/21 when I checked it last week, maybe my email nudged them.
