I had one of these controllers before, when I had an MVS board with controller ports.

The big difference was it had a cracked knob.

Apparently, it is not uncommon for owners of Neo Geo controllers to develop a crack in their knob, some like the look of it and can't feel it so do nothing, others find it abhorrent and have to graft on a fresh knob, discarding the cracked one.

I don't know, however, once the knob is replaced, what the chances are of the new knob itself developing a crack, so I am being watchful for knob cracks, just in case.

Eschatos is out for the Switch, a nice arcade shooter, of particular interest to locals will be in inclusion of a few bonus games, one of them being Judgement Silversword, a cracking shmup that only came out on the Wonderswan and costs a fortune there.

Some seriously boring gets but still… S-Video cables for Dreamcast and Saturn.

The DC cables are a brand called “Performance”. They’re okay but not well shielded so there is a little cross talk.

The Saturn cables are originals and FILTHY. Plus the red phono wire is a bit exposed, but I saw that in the pictures and it works fine. Some electrical tape will do for now.

I also got a PS1/2/3 cable S-Video cable this week but didn’t realise until I opened it that it’s 3 meters long!

This arrived recently and I've only had a chance to test it today. It's a SNES-2-3DO controller adapter and works quite well.

The main reason I wanted it was to use 8BitDo controllers on my 3DO's(and they work great). I wasn't a great fan of the 3D printed shell, so I contacted the dev and asked to get the source files so I could do my own.

Playing on the wireless 8BitDo pads is such a luxury compared to the wired 3DO pad 🙂

Yes I think there were a few around. You can still get the odd one on ebay(3D Zero version i think). But they're pricey at this stage and don't actually work very well from what I've read.

In defence of the 3DO controller, I would like to say I always liked it and the ability to daisy-chain was a great way to get lots of players together without needing extra hardware...

If only my Playstation owning friends could have been convinced to play...

In fairness I always liked the feel of the 3DO pad(large or small version). But having wireless controls and options for mouse input and other fancy stuff is what made me get this thing. You can still daisy chain with this by the way, it has a port on the back.

I remember someone fighting the cause to say that the 3DO was the first to have the daisy chaining of controllers...then I mentioned the Amstrad CPC 464 had it before. Kinda limited your choice of joysticks from memory, I think you could use 'normal' Atari standard controllers but then no passthrough?

Just got Chrono trigger complete on the Famicom for under €30 shipped to me. Which I think isn't too bad in this day and age. Going to pick up a few SFC titles and change the roms to English for text heavy games.

Been meaning to do it for years now. Probably missed out on a good pile of them for cheaper but sure f3ck it

There was a Y cable available so you could use two decent joysticks with it. I use the term 'decent' very loosely as we only ever had Quickshots...

Managed to nab a custom made Candy 25 12 button panel from Alberto over on Arcadeotaku.

SNK Cabinets never had this button layout in this style. It's something I've wanted to get made up for years and years to try out.

He modelled it 100% after my current SNK panel, just with a Capcom fighter friendly button layout instead.

Not sure what to do button colour wise. Part of me wants to make the first four buttons the SNK colours and the two 'extra' ones on the bottom right on each side white to go with the white ball tops...not sure if that might look a bit mental though!

Well that's gas, I tried to see if someone else had done something similar with an SNK cabinet and they have, with my exact one. :D

They had an extra button cut out to keep the SNK button lineup which I'm not a massive fan of, but went with the white down the bottom like I was thinking which seems to work well.

Seems that once you're a collector, you're always a collector. I've been bit by the bug again. However, this time I need to do things differently. Instead of collecting "all the things", I think juts owning the hardware I used to have, and wanted to have back in the day, will do me. In particular, I've always had a soft spot for 8 and 16bit micros.

First though, there was a huge Megadrive hole on my shelf. So that's been rectified with an early Jap console, which is in mostly very good condition. It needs a good clean, and all marks look like they'll come out except one down near the volume slider. Quite happy with it, and I'll throw up a restoration thread when I eventually get to it!

Last year, I went a bit Amiga mad.....yikes....a lot of work here to do. Cap kits, restoration/retrobrite, upgrades and so on. Again, there'll be threads when the time comes.

I've also recently been watching a LOT of Atari ST videos. Never had one, never even seen one in the flesh, and again, always wanted one. Then somehow, two arrived! A 520STfm, and a 1040STe....again, lots of restoration work needed, serious deep cleans, retrobriting, and some QoL upgrades perhaps. The 1040 is missing its badge, which I thought was quite suspicious when looking at the ad. I took the chance though and verified the motherboard is indeed what it's supposed to be....

That's mostly all I have the space to display, I have the usual bits and pieces in storage like handhelds and so forth. I have to use my old bedroom in parents house to store everything, not an ounce of space for any of it where I live unfortunately. I'll have my own little private games room one day...one day!

The Atari's are properly filthy, they need a good long soak.
