To be fair, they're all practically raised on tiktok videos of people screaming at cats, so I doubt they'll remember anything anyway.

It is particularly wholesome to consider the wisdom of nightclubs in winter though, you're dead on. We're living in a twilight zone of incompetence, greed and stupidity.

I don't think it's the strain there, more the tragedy of it as being pregnant and developing COVID symptoms is a very high risk state to be in. At least the guidelines are clear now, but there is a lot that, through no fault of their own, were left unvaccinated until the 12+ week limit was dropped (which was in place due to an abundance of caution as the reality is a lot of women don't know they're pregnant in the first 12 weeks and would have got it anyway) and then saw it as mixed messaging during the later trimesters.

The whole stuff about fertility and effect on the baby was of course fear mongering by anti-vaxxers (there was another fake study a few weeks ago as well).

I like to wear a mask to bed anyway, feels weird without it.

I've been known to sleepwalk about the home presenting my covid cert to the kettle too.

So they had sources which turned out to be wrong and amended with an apology after 4 hrs. Without being forces to do so. Sounds like standard practice. People make mistakes.

    Independent does it too

Pick a recent story that has not be retracted and tell me why its bs?

Wait till you wake up and you have to scan it in the bog to take a dump

"if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be."

Sorry have better things to be doing and your shoulders must be tired with them goalposts moving them about so time to rest.

Site is a grifters paradises it's not a news source it's full of opinion articles written to anger the dim. As I recommended to another poster try and keep the click finger away from the donate button.

It's even trolling the dim with the site name Gript -> Grift

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭watchingfromafar

Again. I am not a regular reader.

But I keep seeing people **** talking it. And besides retraction which happen I am yet to find something so outlandish as to show gript lives up to its "extreme fringe" labelings I see from left leaning people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,071 ✭✭✭✭Ha Long Bay

Well first off I never claimed to be left leaning and secondly never called it extreme fringe so I guess you are not talking about me?

Who are these people you have seen say this? I haven't seen it on boards just a few posters regurgitate their opinion pieces here.

You do know that people can read an article on a site without donating to the site? I have never donated any money to any site or person in terms of the media. I don't even read Gript. I don't read any newspapers.

Do you believe the stories Gript reported on (the ones I linked to) should have been reported on in other Irish newspapers? Are the emails fake in the articles on Gript? Did Donnelly hint at the measures being permanent? Or is the video of him saying that fake?

Same question to you raind: do you think the stories Gript reported on should have been reported on in The Irish Times, The Irish Independent and RTÉ? Or is high profile scientists and academics discussing ways to increase anxiety not newsworthy in your opinion? Is a high profile academic talking about Ivor Cummins and a hurley newsworthy? Is the Minister for Health hinting at measures being permanent newsworthy? Or are the emails fake and the video of Donnelly saying "temporary or not" fake?

Gript is not a newspaper so we are off to a bad start. Come back when you figure out what it is and we can have a discussion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,492 ✭✭✭floorpie

Why is everyone debating that Gript article? The text it highlights is from an act that is commenced since last year. The title is in the article!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭watchingfromafar

Okay that has to be the most insane take I've ever read.

If I told you the actual meaning of life was published in gript you wouldn't read it?

Is the article incorrect or correct.

Attack the content. Don't just go "lalalala it's in gript it's not real lalalalalala"

It's not a real news paper? Lol come on.

Is there a list of approved information you read from as gospel and everything else is off limits?

    Dogmatic.

New variant. Will likely be contained for a couple of months then hit Europe (most likely the UK) around February-March.

Lots of spreadage, wait until everyone gets their booster, emergency powers extended, wait until the OAPs get booster 2. July-August hits, save the school returns. All restrictions will be lifted in October. Months get cold. Restrictions don't get lifted. HSE is under immense pressure. Emergency powers extended. NPHET are still in control of the country.

Same f**king **** over and over again.

Honestly, where do people genuinely see us at on November 25th 2022?

All I can see is NPHET still dickswinging, the same restrictions and "emergency powers" being in place. A handful of what were conspiracy theories this year bring reality. And probably a brand spanker of a variant to keep it rolling for November 25th 2023.

Post one gript story you have read.

Then post sources and reasoning as to why it was wrong.

Did that yet we are still going around in circles. It's a grift opinion website but lap it up and defend it as you appear to be the target audience.

A few months ago I'd have said ah come on, masks at the very least will be gone by the end of the year.

Then I thought it would be February 2022. Now, I'm guessing we will be told to wear masks in our own homes and chain loved ones to the bed just in case they get the sniffles.

From now on I'll ask the postman for his or her's covid pass and make sure they are wearing hazmat suits when they deliver the post.. just to be 100% sure and comply with that eejits advice.

One thing will be constant though... And that'll be our junk health service being routinely overwhelmed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,071 ✭✭✭✭Ha Long Bay

We don't have a junk health care service if you think that you must never have left Ireland in your entire life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,525 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

The health service, hse etc has been an absolute sh!tshow since the 00s. Nearly every winter we have stories that the hospitals are under pressure, no enough beds, not enough nurses etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭watchingfromafar

Yes and we came to the conclusion that articles sometimes get bad sources and their integrity comes from being able to admit fault. Retract and apologise for the error as soon as they can.

Independent did it. Gript did it.

Now if you can leave the ad hominem attacks to the side and specify answer the poster who gave you a gript article referring to Mr Donnellys comments and show why we can't use it as a source of information other than "gript bad", it would be much appreciated

...and I will continue to do so. I'm optimistic. Seems this thread is mostly populated by pessimists. Restrictions have been introduced and relaxed since the start. People have asked for the thread title to be changed a few times since March last year. It hasn't happened. Keep asking though...and I'll repeat that restrictions will eventually ease...as they have done before.

And what about the constant supply of new variants ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,071 ✭✭✭✭Ha Long Bay

You jumped in asking for one article from grifter.ie that was fake I provided it. Nite nite.

Now if you can leave the ad hominem attacks to the side

    LOL

    First it was Teenagers

    Second it was young adults

    Then it was the unvacinated

Let's not forget the Eastern Europeans

    Back to the Unvacinated

Now its the children but schools still safe of course.

Finally a reluctant acceptance vacinne protection waning but of course blaming anything that's convenient.

The excuses are running out fast and it's Just Astonishing NPHET actually had to meet to come up with the latest bizzare nonsense.

Frankly I'm lost for words at this stage, the debacle around Antigen testing, lack of availability of PCR testing, Lack of track and tracing, Vacinne protection waning, extraordinary lack of leadership from Government, the mind boggles.

It seems to me the approach now is if its obvious, deflect, deny, claim we're following advice from someone, nothing to see here approach.

If it's not so obvious, make it up, clutch at the vaguest of straws and deflect.

It's just bizzare at this stage

There are vast numbers of variants and it is rare for one to even make it to VUI and fewer again to VOC or panic status! Of these only one has caused worldwide issues, so not exactly a constant supply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,136 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

NPHET seem to have accepted at this stage that a lockdown of any shape or size will be rejected so we are looking for more interesting ways to tweak restrictions. They really have it in for gyms and hairdressers as this is the second time it's come up! You would wonder if this is not a repeat of last October where things were actually getting a little bit better yet NPHET charged in with a level 5 recommendation. It's probably the dark shadow of Christmas past once again and the new worrying VOC brings with it more excitement!

Listening to Morning Ireland on Radio 1 and it really is a frightening scenario with this new variant that has been found. I think there is no doubt we will be back to restrictions soon which is so depressing...you'd feel really really fed up. IS there any light at the end of the this COVID tunnel
