You could put spoilers mid sentence with the old ones you could even put one word as a spoiler if you wanted, These spoilers are terrible.

You mean that you can not spoiler a single

    word?

And just carry on as normal?

There is no excuse for not being able to spoiler things, while giving context to the spoiled topic, outside the tag...

Right, so they're not even being coy at this stage; talk of spoilers feels redundant when the studio start of openly promoting the surprises . I'm presuming all these cameos will be in the climactic final battle when the multiverse goes tits up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,793 ✭✭✭FunLover18

    So

    Electro and Sandman

pretty much confirmed now. I wonder will they update the GG costume.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

And a certain Green Goblin but not sure if it's the William Defoe version

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,793 ✭✭✭FunLover18

Haha that's the costume I was referring to, it looks the same but it's impossible to zoom in on to get a proper look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

I'm just going to go with the flow and not over think timelines and alternative outcomes etc

You'd be pulling your hair out trying to figure it out

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

I think Goblin's look in that poster won't be the look, from what I've heard it will be a slight variation. But no harm throwing the old design in just to increase excitement without giving anything away.

Looks like there will be a new trailer shown at a fan event in LA on Tuesday. Wonder if it will be released to the public too seeing as there have been leaks this week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

New trailer tomorrow, poster updated. Guessing a final poster will be released with the trailer showing EVERYONE.

Does Happy Hogan arrange Matt Murdock Daredevil ( Charlie Cox ) for Peter

Reading that they wanted to make major reshoots for this however they didn't have time and they have been doing reshoots to Dr. Strange 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 87,495 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

My spoiler above is about a cameo guest role question

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,249 ✭✭✭✭flazio

That would be interesting considering who played Foggy Nelson in the Affleck film.

My ignore list gets bigger by the day with posters who just seem to can't use spoilers or just them without contect or just quote spoilers and basicly say what the spoiler is about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,102 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

So going off this tweet, I'm guessing the trailer releases at 1:30am here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Everything I've seen of Cumberbatch so far in this looks like he's sleepwalking through it.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,711 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

Whoah; definitely revealing a lot - but then to be fair, the rumours had been swirling for so long, while Marvel's own posters clearly show some of the "surprise" visitors; at this stage it's just confirming what half the fandom already knew. TBH my real surprise is just how much Ock is apparently in this.

I've never bought into Cumberbatch as Strange; either in his own film or the others he pops up in. But then like other parts, it's the accent that kills it for me. He has this phoney, mid-Atlantic twang that makes his performance appear more affected and fake when he's playing an American. It was the same with Hugh Laurie; people lauded his performance in House, but all I ever heard was "Hugh Laurie doing a Yankie accent". On the other hand, I've never had that mental roadblock with Tom Holland; even though I"ve heard his real voice, his Peter Parker feels a lot more organic, more believable.

Did anyone see anything about the Brazilian version of the trailer?

The end shot where you see Lizard leaping forward runs a second longer and shows him recoiling as if having been punched by an invisible foe, or more likely, Garfield or Maguire who have been removed from the scene for the trailer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,275 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Garfield and Maguire will feature in this 100%, the shot of Holland jumping towards all of Sandman, Goblin, Lizard, the villains are to far apart and in a straight line as if they are fighting 'invisible foes' i.e Garfield and Maguire. I reckon some editing was done was done to exclude them for the trailers and that'll be the big surprise come movie time.

The shot of MJ falling is very reminiscent to Emma Stone's fall in Garfield's second Spidey film. He'll be the one that saves her. All speculation of course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Wonder will this 3 hours ?

Certainly will have to be a meaty length given how many characters are in it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭santana75

I think you should relax. It's a film, no more than that. Nothing bad will happen if you find out the odd detail about the movie before it's release, The world won't end and your enjoyment of the finished product won't be ruined.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,000 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

If there isn't a scene replicating this in the movie, I'll be incredibly upset.

Into The Spiderverse did it better than this film possibly can!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

Given the naff joke about Doc Ock's name I hope they leave it to Into The Spider verse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,249 ✭✭✭✭flazio

We found out in Spider Verse that Doc Ocks name was Agatha All Along.

Furthering the persistent rumour this is going to feature ...

multiple spider-men, and specifically the Garfield / Maguire versions: in an international version of the trailer - during the point Spidey leaps towards the amassed enemies - eagle-eyed viewer could see Lizard seemingly punched by "nothing", while others aren't event looking at Tom Holland's version. The thinking being, that the other Spider-Men have been edited out to maintain some semblance of a surprise.

This is my take of it also. He is only in high school and only has his powers for a bit I be astonished if he was all boss now especially since his idol dies and his life and his friends lives are been ripped apart. I am not sure which super hero says it it but its I wear this costume not to protect me but everyone I love. So something must happen one of his friends for him to go to Dr. Strange

Preface: Spidey has been my favourite hero since I was about 6.

I think we can all agree, Spidey has had a rockey journey at hollywood. Personally, I hated the first Maguire movie, the second outing was pretty good, the third was awful. Andrew Garfield's tenure went well, and Tom Holland kind of got rebooted without telling the back story once again. The whole Sony ownership made things messy.

I really dont know what to expect from this. Into the Spiderverse was fantastic, and a surprise for me. I really enjoyed it and in rewatches too.

I'm dubious if this can be pulled off.

What with Maguire and Garfield returning is there any rumours that spider-ham will feature in this new movie ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,447 ✭✭✭kerplun k

What are you talking about? Garfield has said on multiple occasions that he’s not in this. Same as Maguire. There’s no way either of these will show up.

Remember all the Quick silver theories around Wandavision?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,711 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

That was insane, no question and IIRC some were even thinking the rabbit in Wandavision was actually mephisto or some such. The speculation went a bit overboard.

If Garfield/Maguire aren't in this then I will be genuinely surprised. Trotting out nearly all the villains from both the actors' series would be weird if neither iteration of Spiderman turned up to help out. There's a bunch of circumstantial evident floating about that suggests they are; we'll find out soon enough.

Certainly not invested in the outcome mind you. Though doubtless many might be more upset if all this time, Garfield was telling the truth.

Harry was also Goblin in the same universe. Wonder who or both would be brought back

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,447 ✭✭✭kerplun k

You think the rabbit was bad? I thought the insect was mephisto 😀

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,144 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

I say bring in an animated Miles Morales :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,134 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

No way the'd shít the bed here like Wandavision.

Leaving Maguire and Garfield out totally would be better than casting them as Peter Ramsbottom and Dick Parker.

I am still irrationally bitter, that my theory regarding wanda being the one to bring mutants to the MCU, was paid off by having pietro just being cast aside as 'Ralph Bohner'.

I also kinda feel that they've shown too much of their hand so far with the trailers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,793 ✭✭✭FunLover18

I actually wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't, recent interviews suggest he isn't happy with his time as Spider-Man. I still think he is in it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,249 ✭✭✭✭flazio

I have a different theory about how there appears to be an "invisible" Spider-man in the trailer but I'm not willing to try spoiler tags. 😏

As an aside, I rewatched the first two Raimi Spider-Man movies recently and damn they’ve held up well. If anything, everything that’s followed them only elevates them further. They’re now for my money the best live-action Marvel films: big, warm-hearted, romantic and properly heroic. Maguire and Dunst are perfect, as are Dafoe and Molina. Raimi directs the absolute hell out of them: definitely the best live action superhero action sequences of them all. He managed to use impeccable editing to make that first Doc Ock fight hospital scene really crunch in a way that’s entirely absent from the MCU. While those films use rapid cuts to sort of tone down the violence, Raimi uses the same techniques to tone up the violence (despite no blood or gore to be seen).

It also existed in that sweet spot the LotR trilogy exists in too - the early era of CG where the films hadn’t become totally overwhelmed by computer effects. Sure, some of the web swinging stuff looks a bit flat and basic these days, but lots of the key scenes take place on impressive physical sets with proper stunt work.

While it’ll be cool to see some of those characters back in this (although I’m not a fan of these Holland movies) it’s made me freshly curious about how well Raimi himself will fare with his return to Marvel next year.

Fully agree, first 2 Tobey films have been unmatched imo. I've watched them so many times but can't bring myself to do the same with the Tom ones. I actually tried to watch far from home for the 3rd time recently and kept fast forwarding bits. So much unnecessary filler combined with a neutered spidey kills the replay value for me. Sickened netflix put all the spidey films on except for Tobey 2.
