It's an embarrassing Irish silly rule that tourists will find baffling.

Will this ticketing system not make queues more likely outside nightclubs? Between checking for certs and tickets and some drunken people fumbling with their phones I reckon it could get pretty messy. Some people will get impatient. Got to feel sorry for the door staff

The covid theatrics just keep getting more and more absurd.

We're just tying ourselves up in knots.

Comedians wouldn't even think up some of of stuff that's happening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,876 ✭✭✭bokale

ah they would. They think up some outrageous scenarios

That's because comedians are trying to be funny.

The one hour ticket, the new €9 meal

This “ticketing” system has been in place for a while now in leisure centre and gyms. Just turns out to me a major pain in the arse but I still fail to see how it stops the spread of covid.

This “ticketing” system bullshit just goes to prove the point NPHET want to make going out and having a good time in a pub/club as difficult and stressful as possible. Jobsworth ****.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,105 ✭✭✭prunudo

You won't find me defending Nphet very often if ever but in this case I think its all the governments doing. If nphet had their way they wouldn't allow them open at all and this is just the government trying to be on side with the voters but making a balls of it along the way.

The current mess and many other nonsensical rules throughout the past 20 months can be traced back to the fact the government/civil service is run predominantly by middle aged and older people who live in comfortable homes and long since attending nightclubs.

Travel and event restrictions to be determined by blood sample testing?

World Economic Forum video on new CovidPass. "Users will have their blood screened at an approved CovidPass laboratory, before being issued with a secure QR HealthVisa code. Which they can then present at airport check-in, borders and event entrances.."

"CovidPass commits to mandatory carbon offsetting for each of its passengers".

That's a "no thanks dystopia" from me 😄

    Thoughts?

Yes, haha, and I love how when they actually announce it like in the video above, "conspiracy theory" turns into "Shure, what's the problem with that?" 😄

It's just an idea where the dots seem to join themselves. Dublin Airport for example had 32 million travellers in 2019. What labs could process that many blood samples never mind the rest of the 1.5bn travellers?

NPHET aren't making these calls, the cabinet is coming up with this stuff... All that NPHET advised was that there should be some restrictions still on the hospitality sector

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,838 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Actually the dail is off this week so it would be the cabinet making these calls if they came into force this weekend. Agreed that it seems to be just trying to keep their voters happy, who generally speaking are past nightclub-going-age!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,003 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Are they actually keeping anyone happy with these calls? Seems to me all they do is show the government/cabinet up to be a shower of dopes and to be making things up as they go along. Surely someone at the cabinet table said "these requirements are a load of nonsense and are going to make us look like gobsh1tes, just like the €9 meal rubbish last year".

Its not an announcement. What do people actually think the WEF is?

Reading the comments on the video on youtube is interesting however. Loads of people whipping themselves into a frenzy about the "new vaccine detection blood test" which is not what the video was about at all. When else do we see people daily get into a frenzy of righteous indignation about something that 1. only a suggestion of what could happen produced by one group, and 2. Not anything that was actually said by said group n the first place.

you are correct in what you say but we have no idea the discussions at cabinet.

Michael Martin is a weak and ineffective leader maybe Dr Holohans force of character bullies him into submission - I don't know. I would guess he is easily persuaded.

The greens are weak as piss and Leo only acts to suit Leo so he swings from good decisions to bad decisions with tremendous ease because often the public isn't his main concern.

So in short , none of us really know the discussions that are had and what horse-trading or threats go on etc?

While I thought the lockdown levels and restrictions were wrong , when Tony H was away progress appeared to be made and certainly the vibe was less nanny state authoritarian . Its says a lot the state of things when he came back.

But as you said , the official decision is made my cabinet

They said they would allow them to open and they have. The restrictions are NPHET-induced.

A global organisation whose language (new normal, build back better) governments around the world are using.

Have you seen some of the other stuff WEF and Klaus Schwab come out with?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,136 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

It's a think tank, there are lots of those about. You can just ignore it.

The WEF is boards.ie for rich people. A talking shop where lots of people say stupid sh*t, and very occasionally someone says something of actual substance.

And the great reset is "corporate speak" with nothing of any great substance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,985 ✭✭✭growleaves

A think-thank made up of the most powerful people in the world and they continually put out videos along the lines of "hey this new measure of totalitarianism could happen" and present it as neutral or a good thing.

Well how can a mandatory totalitarian surveillance state come into being unless someone brings it into being?

Er and who apart from the people who control already major nations, banks etc - and put out these videos in their spare time when they're shooting the breeze at their think-tanks and forums - would do that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 790 ✭✭✭foxsake

i think that is a naive view. this boards for rich people (as you call it) have a lot of access and power the ordinary joe doesn't.

Not to mention that many politicians and leaders cosy up to these guys for a good gig post politics. But of course it's all above board. Nothing to see.

don't forget our own Leo has been crowned "young go getter of the year" or "future globalist leader" by that same forum and can we forget how our 2nd in command (yes I know don't forget FF - FF are lost- FG have the real power ) Simon Coveney chaperoned Peter Sutherland to the Bilderberg Summit. Sutherland not wishing to derail the conversation was no friend of Ireland and a committed globalist

But as you said...it's just boards for the rich and nothing to see. in fact there is nothing to see cos Bilderberg is strictly private....

    But I'm sure it's fine.

They mean us well and have no power..

Ah nevermind this WEF shower more important things like if I buy a ticket for the nightclub and then I rock up to said nightclub and the doorman says "sorry not tonight" and I say "but I have my ticket" and still the doorman won't allow me in, how do I get my money back or will they have another queue for people the doorman has refused to get their refunds or is now the "Management have the right to refuse access" defunct because of this ticketing system?

The whole seems to be a mess and hasn't been thought through properly.
