You get a notification in the post, with a new bond certificate for €50. That is if you did not opt to have prizes paid into your bank account.

You can register your bonds on the site, and when you log in it will show a message that you have a winner.

Haven't bought a batch like that but I thought all the paperwork already done was to ensure everything was above board

That's what I would have thought also. Biggest batch I got was 25k. I might give them a ring next week but I'm not sending off bank statements and pay slips in the post.

This sounds like AML (Anti Money Laundering) requirements. Generally, an institution does not have to query the source of funds IF the funds come in to them for another recognised Financial Institution (Irish Bank, Irish Pension Provider etc) as they can assume that the transferring institution will have satisfied itself in respect of the legitimacy of the funds. On the other hand, if the funds arrive into them in the form of cash, they are definitely obliged to query the source of funds. So it may relate to the form of payment used. There are other triggers, such as the purchaser having a name like bin Laden and an address in the Pakistani uplands.

Cheers, it was a direct transfer from the boi. Have the paperwork needed but don't see why I should send it including payslips upto donegal, if they still have issues I'll just pull the money out and stick it in an ETF.

When was the last time the variable percentage rate for prizes increased? Or has it never increased?

I suspect that all is not well in the world of Prize Bonds. More on this anon.

yeah this question has popped up before, well in a perfect world each bond should have the same chance of winning. It's a computer generated draw after all(overseen by marty whelan and nuala carey) but the rates aren't great at the moment.I see a few people on here with big money winning very little and indeed vice versa some with small amounts defying the odds(100k/5 wins a year-20k/1 win on average at the moment).so you could be lucky or not,it's a safe place for your money(hopefully?), out of harm's way.Good luck if you take the plunge.(just joking about marty and una).
