Please no! I gave out about Owens and Zayn but I'd 100% take either over Gargano

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,220 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Can't see him wanting to go. AEW is travelling again and Candice is pregnant, NXT doesn't really travel so I imagine that suits them right now.

Just googled him and apparently John Gargano is his real name so if he ever did leave at least he gets to keep the name recognition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Garcia/Moriarty was so good, two of the best youngsters in the game. Could be the start of a generational rivalry in AEW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Tbf, it's probably less about him wanting to go and more on will WWE actually offer him an extension. Candice is probably the bigger get though. She's excellent and would be one of their best women's performers. Assuming she continues to intend to wrestle after her pregnancy, she'd fit in

The best thing about not watching NXT is not having to see Gargano or Daddy's Home Ciampa on my screen. Put the phone down TK!

Garica vs Moriarty was great just the kind of match you want on a show there to elevate talent.

Skye Blue also has something about her at 21 and still very green.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,621 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Yes have to agree with the sentiment here

Garica vs Moriarty was great, no wonder TK signed Lee up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Moriarty announced for the MLW Opera Cup not sure if this was agreed before he became All Elite or if the door is opening between MLW and AEW.

Tom Lawlor, Davey Richards, TJP, Matt Cross, Tankman, Bobby Fish had already been announced for the Cup.

    That looks a tasty tournament

MLW already works with AAA & NJPW.

Could just be him fulfilling contracts. He did ROH on Sunday too

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,211 ✭✭✭LineOfBeauty

Definitely just fulfilling dates. ROH, as mentioned at the weekend, and this one. Also as mentioned, the Garcia match on Elevation was very good.

Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston vs. Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer looks to be set for AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 22, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.

    Be a fun watch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Looking forward to this, should be good. Also love how they are referring to the 'Suzuki incident' and using it as part of the story, just another example of AEW turning a negative into a positive!

Have 2.0 won a match on a non-dark show? For a team that features so heavily in storylines (Punk,Darby,Mox,etc) they rarely pick up the W on Dynamite or Rampage. I'm sure they're raking up wins on the Dark shows but not everyone watches those.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Think it was at the media scrum after All Out, Tony talked about 2.0 saying how he can't always have Wingmen in the same role, or something along those lines so guess that's the plan for now anyway. Just be there to lose to bigger names.

So with them announcing Leyla as being from Moscow all this time, will they change it on Dynamite?

So that was Fuego's first singles victory. I thought his opponent was a fake, like was JD Drake or someone dressed up for some reason, but turns out he's real and has had 28 matches between 2006 and now.

I guess the problem with the new Dark is a good chance they won't have ones there that don't need to be there. Surprised all the Best Friends were there, but then we had Anna without the Dark Order for her first singles match back.

Meant to say on Elevation, was Butcher crying at the end of their match? Think was his first match since returning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Uno and Grayson were there that day in Orlando at least. I'd imagine the others were too. They taped at least 4 weeks worth of dark matches there so I'd imagine most of the roster from mid card down were there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

2.0 are so great they bring so much energy and they have such punchable faces you just want to see them get the crap beaten out of them

Some more Apple Jack vs Orange Cassidy in singles please.

    Need some more of Dasha.

Statlander looked strange with her bare legs. Just not used to it

I'm surprised it's not more of a loaded show tonight. Think I read it'll be in front of their 3rd biggest crowd ever (and this is where blood and guts was due to take place before the pandemic hit, so I thought they might get a big match). Only match I'm interested in so far is Cole's debut.

I wonder what will be the big marquee match for Arthur Ashe next week? Should be announced tonight you'd think.

EDIT - forgot about Cody Vs Black but I'd hope there is another big match as well

Heading to Arthur Ashe next week so very curious what we get. Surely Bryan's in-ring debut though I expect it to be in a multi-man match.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,766 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

Could be Bryan & Christian vs Adam Cole & Kenny, or make it an 8-man with The Bucks and Jungle Boy, Luchasauras or Kazarian.

Definitely need to see Bryan in the ring. We will have had enough promos from him (and Punk too for that matter).

    Lineup For Dynamite

    * Dan Lambert hosts a Tough Guy Challenge

    * Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley vs. 2point0

    * Lance Archer and Minoru Suzuki issue a challenge to Jon Moxley

    * CM Punk does commentary

    * Matt Hardy continues his feud with Orange Cassidy

    * Shawn Spears vs. Darby Allin

    * Leyla Hirsch vs. Jade Cargill

    * Adam Cole makes AEW in-ring debut vs. Frankie Kazarian

    * Bryan Danielson addresses AEW World Champion Kenny Omega

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Reckon we'll get another match tonight surely.

As for next week, I'd be expecting a multi man match containing Bryan and Omega. Sort of assuming a 4 v 4 with Bryan, Christian, Jurassic Express Vs Omega, Cole and Young Bucks.

Also hoping for a Hangman return. Dark Order split storyline has to end at Rochester surely with them sorting it all out so would be expecting Hangman back for that.

Cracking opening match between Cole and Frankie.

The Butcher and The Blade vs The Lucha Bros on this week’s Rampage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I like that they are playing on The Suzuki Incident as they are calling not playing Suzuki's entrance in full.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Rosario Dawson getting physical with Black.

AEW with there own two time Olympic gold medalist now.

American Top Team bringing out the big guns.

    Dan Lambert is great.

I think that’s the first hometown lose for a wrestler in AEW.

Right decision thought for Jade to win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    Hook taking charge.

I hope he can bump like a maniac when it’s time for his comeuppance. He is right up there with 2.0 and Garica with a punchable face.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Damn fair play to Sting that was some spiked piledriver to take.

Don Callis is just so good.

The Best Bout Machine vs The American Dragon.

Two hour Rampage next week with Punk vs Hobbs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

Oh my God! Getting spoiled at the NY show. What a week of wrestling I'll have. AEW Wednesday, GCW Thursday and Friday and PWG in LA Sunday. Getting those airmiles in!

I thought they'd have Hirsch win there. Cargill is like 3rd in the rankings behind Ruby (who'll drop after she loses next week) and Rosa who I don't see winning until the first 2022 PPV, so she's coming up for a shot at Britt soon. She's way too inexperienced for that, and Britt is not someone who'll carry Jade to a good match imo. Hirsch was a good option for that first loss to drop her down.

Was trying to figure out if that guy in the front row was actually trying to hit Black. Seemed to get pretty close.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

There's something about Cody's feuds that just leave me very cold. Like, they're booked like "WWE feuds". Why is Black having competitive matches with nobodies, having the celebrity interactions, and so on. Why is Cody, of all people, coming through the crowd? He's the guy running the show. Not out getting a hotdog at concessions, or someone like Mox. It doesn't fit the character at all.

Rest of the card was great though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Yeah didn't get that part. Why wasn't he in the back? How often have we seen him come out with headset on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

So the card for next week (so far) is absolutely stacked. Like PPV card level (although damn commercials will mean short matches)

    Dynamite

    Rhodes vs Black

    Omega vs Danielson

    MJF vs Pillman

    Baker vs Soho (title match)

    Sting/Allin vs FTR

    Rampage

    Cole/Bucks vs Christian/Jurassic Express

    CM Punk vs Hobbs

    Jericho/Hager for MOTY

Rampage will be 2 hours as well so you're adding another 2 matches there most likely (I'd be expecting PnP at least since it's a homecoming, and then a womens match TayJay vs Ford/Bunny is my expectation there). Although Mox/Kingston vs Suzuki/Archer is going in there somewhere too I'd imagine.

Looking up more about Suzuki-Gun and seems Kojima was the one who originally started the stable and was ousted for Suzuki. Maybe his appearance at All Out wasn't just a one off random showing and he might play a part in this feud.

As much as I wanted to see Eddie get a big win in his hometown, think Archer picking up the win does more for him than Eddie or Mox.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,220 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

The Bryan/Omega bit was simple and great. Intense Bryan is always good and when you strip away all The Elite flotsam and leave Omega with a motormouth like Callis, it can work.

Jade Cargill is incredible...and then the bell rings.

    Cole is effortlessly cool.

ATT has a lot of high-profile fighters, AEW would be doing well if they signed one or two and with the way pay is in UFC I'd say some would jump at the chance.

They want to present Black as this malevolent force but you strip away a lot of his menace when 60 years olds are shrugging off the Black Mass and actresses are jumping on his back.

Great Dynamite to set up the shows nicely for next week.

Loved the pop that Adam Cole got.

My only criticism is Jericho and Hager answering Lambert's challenge. Was hoping Jericho would go away for a few months with Fozzy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

I could see Paige VanZant doing it (I think she was linked to WWE before) and she's barely a fighter anymore so would be possible. The others are under contract so I doubt they're allowed do anything other than stand there and maybe say a few words. Masvidal was at All Out and he's enough of an attraction that if Tony was willing to pay Dana a load to allow it, he'd be a draw for casuals to watch imo. As would Poirier but he hasn't been seen in AEW yet so assume he has no interest in it.

VanZant's MMA career is pretty much finished now at a top level and if she was interested in wrestling she would be a good signing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,220 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

It would need to be a pretty lucrative contract to get PVZ. She signed a big deal with BKFC and selling nudes is making her even more than that apparently...

    https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2021/7/1/22558299/paige-vanzant-says-one-month-from-fan-site-pays-more-than-entire-bkfc-ufc-contracts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Suzuki is wrestling Joey Janela at GCW Aftermath.

Between Dark Side of the Ring and his friendship with Mox that lead to him getting a main event on AEW, Gages promotion really has gotten itself some serious attention this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

I think she only has a fight left on that contract though and don't see why she'd be getting another good contract there.

Course, shes not really a draw as a signing so doubt the money she'd want would be worth it. Someone like Masvidal, even in a one off trios match would draw though. Masvidal and MOTY Vs Jericho, Sammy and Hager or something like that and you can at least do something shoot style between him and Hager in that.

I want to hear 2.O say something along the lines of……

We’re so good the the place that sacked us have now rebranded in honour of us because they realised what a mistake it was letting us go.

Well you'll get your wish regarding Jericho sometime in November, maybe November 17th. or write him out on the November 19th episode of Rampage. Fozzy start their European run on November 29th through December 12th.
