Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was given a free pair of Ultraboost DNA 1.0s today. I know they are a lifestyle shoe, but reckon I could use them for light recovery runs of <5k?

    Basically these: https://www.sivasdescalzo.com/en/p/ultra-boost-1-0-burgundy-af5836

    should be fine

using the boost foam and heel counter etc looks ok for running

    it's basically a re-issue of a running shoe

I bought a pair of Endorphin Shifts recently and after about 25 miles I'm going to have to bin them. There's absolutely no flexibility in the sole so I can't bend my foot when toeing off while the shape of the rigid sole makes my foot roll in a way that's unnatural to me.

I've worn them a few times for some shorter runs and each time I get calf issues and a couple of times have had shin pain. Was at physio this week over my calf and brought the runners with me to show him and he said it's pretty much what I was thinking, that the sole is too rigid and not being able to bend my foot is putting strain on my calf.

I bought them because I thought they would be like a more padded version of the Kinvara that I usually run in, but they are nothing alike.

Looking forward to using the Floatride Forever Energy

Lightweight for its class (9oz size UK 8) everyday run to tempo neutral shoe with a comfortable but durable floatride foam with some responsiveness

Have held off buying shoes for the last while to "run down" the collection

Reebok shoes are made by Adidas and this shoe is very well reviewed. (although Adidas are looking to sell the brand now)

    LoDuxwX.png

How are you finding them? I got a pair of Floatride Energy 3 as something different and based off good reviews. A daily trainer for €70, the opposite end of the spectrum. Seems every easy shoe is trying to be "more versatile" leaving most of them in a middle ground. I find need 2 types of easy shoes. A pair for my slowest easiest runs, generally the softest roomiest shoes, and a pair that can handle a set of strides at the end of an easy run. This one fits the former. Easy miles. I'm surprised how "big" it is actually. Beside my trusty Boston 7 (in a similar blue colourway and same size), they look like some bigger grown up shoes next to older child shoes!

Its partly the peebak foam running the length of the sole but also the tall very cushioned heel counter and generous toe box. I have a wider foot and find most shoes snug but this one I barely have to loosen the laces to slip in and out. Interested in durability. I'll measure these against Nike, New Balance and Adidas for that.

Interesting that the Adidas Boston 10 has thrown away the lower profile and gone with a stacked lightstrike foam. Thats such a shame. Everytime I put on an older Boston or the first SL20 the ground contact feel is quite refreshing

the Floatride Energy 3 is still on the way so haven't ran in them yet so can't offer any opinion as of now.

I went a 1/2 size down - hopefully was the correct choice.

the foam is supposed to be pretty durable in terms of mileage.

They are garbage. Use mine solely for daily use walking around. It’s all they are good for in my opinion

The site is barely 2-3 pages, with a few words, and even then some of the links go to the squarespace homepage.

I’d call it very very early stage.

Wealthy people want bespoke things, so they'll always have a market, but I think I’ll go with the billions spent by Nike and Co on R&D ahead of these.

I got a pair of Shifts myself recently after loving the Speeds and thought they would be good for easy runs but I am definitely a bit disappointed. I've about 140km done in them now and noticing shin pain in one of my legs which is normally never an issue for me.

I think I'm going to start looking for an alternative soon enough. I was considering the New Balance 1080v11's. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I do. Have done quite a few kms in them and definitely rate them for easy and recovery runs

The fit 1/2 size down from normal fits very well for me. Shoe is very decent overall I would say. Not overly soft at all, has some responsiveness.

They look alright also - an improvement over earlier looks.

The only bit that feels a bit off is the tongue when putting but it's no biggie and not felt while running.

I'd say that they would last quite high mileage with the full rubber outsole and the durable expanded Polyurethane (TPE) foam (it's NOT Pebax on these shoes - that's on the run fast 3)

People got 1000 miles + on versions 1 and 2.

Thinking of getting a pair myself, I have the TC and love them. Where did you get them? The RC Elite V2 is out now so was thinking there might be a discount on the V1 somewhere.
I’m a huge fan of New Balance, they are bringing out some great shoes atm. The Rebel V2 is a wonderful running shoe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭Slideways

Yeah, I got them on a decent discount, $254 instead of $320 or more here. Last few pairs they had and one pair was in my size. It was the Australian branch of running warehouse

They compare very favourably to the endorphin pro I have, though to be fair they have 250km on them so expecting them to be a bit flat

What’s the fit like? There is a pair on New Balance website for €161 but they are a size 42, I’m usually a 42.5

20% off them on Alltricks.com at the moment - €144 in certain colourways. Code is RUNN20.

Did you get them in the end ? I like running in them but was dismayed to see I put a hole in them ( big toe) - first shoe in a while I’ve done that in . Kills me to pay that money for shoes only to have a hole after about 70 miles. ( if even ).

The young lad (12) has being wearing Pegasus 37 for running . He does about 10k a week - ( average 5 min km pace ). The new Pegasus don’t seem to meet his needs - better fit long run etc.

He’s not a “runner “ per se and very label conscious ( wouldn’t recognise any “ runner “ brands) So my question is are there any other Nike shoes that would work and if not what about Adidas?

all the Nike non-spikes faster running shoes have the plate inserts and big stack height and are all expensive - 250 euro +!

Not sure but I will say I owned a version of these several years back and it was easily the worst running shoe I ever had. Would recommend Nike react miler for a stability shoe. Often get good price in their sales. Which is currently live.

Just for a difference of opinion - I have have loved nearly all of the wave rider's I have owned. I think I have worn through about 5 pairs at this stage. The wave inspire is their stability model but the Rider is fairly robust as it is.

I was thinking of trying the react miler also as I seen it on sale. 78 Euro on sale at the moment in my size....:)

react is a great foam imo if you've never tried it - very comfortable with a bit of responsiveness and very durable (cushion is effective for a lot longer in terms of miles than other materials)

I love them. More suited to easy miles. I probably wouldn't wear them for any sort of session. Wouldn't be my first choice for a long run either but that's more down to the fact I've shifted towards some of the upper end shoes for that stuff.

After sending my Asics Metaspeed edge back(they just weren't for me, tried them on 2 runs) I did a bit of research into the NB Fuelcell elite v2. Received them on Friday & did my run that day in them. They felt really good straight out of the box. They have that squishy feel i like but not too soft. They fit really well, bit of room in the toe box & my ankle felt supported. Started off my warm up & really enjoyed the feeling, felt quite effortless & was very easy for the pace to creep up! The best part was running a bit faster, they really came into their own, handled well going around corners, felt stable, with the pace you could feel the effects of the carbon plate with each step & it felt great! Only the one run done in them as these will be my marathon shoe but have to say I am extremely happy with these runners!

I'll only be using them for long slogs so its all good. I use the peg turbo 2s for my pacey runs.

    Fuelcell TC. Or Pegasus Turbo.
How do these compare? I ask because I was a fan of the original Turbo but didn't like the Turbo 2 at all, ended up giving them away with about 60 miles on them. I felt very unsupported in them particularly around the heel. On the other hand Fuelcell TC & RC both getting super reviews but I've never worn any NB shoe.

Opposite of Swashbuckler. I hate them. Clown shoes. So soft that I use them for walking more than running. Grand for easy runs. Would be ok for longer easier runs but forget about strides or anything more than a plod. Then again, that's just my take

Perhaps the one redeeming feature for me is no tongue. One less thing to fiddle with going out the door.

I've worn lots and lots of NB.
Best durable versatile long run shoe was the 880. Went through 3 pairs

Nicest shoe to run in Fuelcell TC (I haven't tried RC yet) but I get blisters and wouldn't use for more than half marathon (which surprised me). Still much better than the 1500 series by a long shot.

1080 series is lovely and plush to start but looses that bounce and comfort too quickly. I went through 4 pairs

In general I've enjoyed NB and Adidas more than Nike
