Just cancelled a long weekend in Kerry next month (€285) and a five-night stay in Donegal (€750) around the August Bank Holiday.

That's over a thousand euro - without a bite of food or a pint of stout drunk - the Government has just taken from small businesses in its jurisdiction and sent to northern Ireland instead.

I know for a fact I will still be served as much alcohol as I like and can eat out without problem. And yes I know that's outdoors but nothing I haven't done in previous years tbh. And I'll be supporting small business as well.

Is the Dail bar and restaurant open indoors for the poor crathurs meeting down the docks? I suppose they are getting sambos and drinks delivered so they can scoff them outdoors on the banks of the Liffey.

I hope they are not eating and drinking inside. Does anyone know?

They tested positive and passed away - not necessary of COVID. They will have tested positive within 28 days of passing away and not had COVID anymore.
Clarity if anything is needed from the figures.

Bit like something that was circulating from an anti vac tweet - headline something like person foot 'exploding' after Pfizer jab - what wasn't mentioned was that person had already lost one foot and had toes amputated from the other foot - due diabetic complications and was already set to lose the remaining part of the toes etc.

As for AZ and J&J. They, along with all the vaccines are designed to reduce and stop serious Covid, ensuring hospitals are not overwhelmed. AZ is known to be a slow burner, the second jab is key -as are all 2 injection vaccines.

Pfizer 96% stop hospital and serious Covid, AZ 92-93% on the last data release, -it's a ongoing situation, more data comes as the vaccinations and live updates come up.
The mixing of vaccines has been and continues to be reviewed. Mixing AZ and Pfizer looks very promising - AZ giving those all important and long term T cells, Pfizer the antibodies.

As the vaccinations increase, we will see more people be able to go out and enjoy life as much as possible. It feels particular tough now, but Delta is so very transmissible. Covid is here for good, we will all be living with it in one form or another. Boosters will be the norm.

People select tidbits from other countries as it suits the point they want to make, but every country is generally trying to find its own way to manage this. But equally every country is not facing the exact same issues. Every country doesn't have the same health service , so comparing like for like is wrong.

They are all facing COVID though, some with more success / confidence than others... this county is spineless and has so many inherent issues it needs more and more time to try and do something that will look even the remotely successful... I'm not buying your comment one bit

You live in Ireland, not Spain. I was in Donegal last week, the weather was hell. You would of been a mad man to even try and eat or drink outside. Making publicans rely on good weather in Ireland to make money, is a cruel financial gamble.

I don't know how much you've spent on it, but you must earn more than me if you can afford to gamble a thousand euro on it not raining. In Ireland.

Not gambling anything tbh. Mainly because my accommodation is funnily enough inside and most of the places I've planned to eat or drink in now have some form of covered outdoor facilities. And as I said most of that is fek all different to what I have done in previous years.

Us Irish, we take a lot. We do what needs to be done and get on with it. I think today however could have tipped the balance to people saying enough. Time will tell.

Its so ****ing illogical at this stage it defies the logic of how we normally determine things that are illogical.

Stayed in a hotel last week in Mayo, 160 people staying they told me at reception so naturally dining and the bar was full with table service both nights. But COVID wouldn't get any of us because we weren't doing the indoor dining and drinking in a pub.
If we had gone down the road and managed to illegally drink in a public house, COVID would have had a field day. We'd have been riddled

Good point - better question would be how many vaccinated have ended up on ventilators in the UK, now given that vaccine efficacy is only 50-60% I am sure there will be some but statistically significant?
