This really doesn't make much sense. So the right to peaceful protest has been removed but it's okay by you as long as organisers make the right noises for compliance of select restrictions?

    Nope.

1000s of people gathering is not a good idea at this moment in time.

    It's not my opinion.

???? Still please answer the question what the difference is between coffee in a bookies and in a coffee shop ? You can't like the rest of the merry men here because you know it's ridiculous.

You can't drink coffee in a bookies or eat a sandwich because masks are mandatory.

What part of that is confusing you?

I cited the example of my local bookies, which I have been in twice this weekend, you said that was a falsehood because you worked in a bookies pre pandemic.

    That is nonsense.

    One is retail

    One is hospitality

    Retail is open.

    Hospitality isn't yet.

That's how it is for the next few weeks at least.

You can't see why a gradual reopening is necessary. That's ok. It won't be for much longer.

Yes you can and I did it today in my local bookies today. I had a latte with a ham and cheese sandwich and backed the guineas winner and I broke no LAW ! what part of that is confusing to you ?

Oh please! What kind of sanctimonious grandstanding is this?

Outdoor event, people spaced apart, and a virus that is little to no threat to almost everyone there anyway but especially not in that environment.

If you'd wanted to go there was nothing stopping you. You could have masked and walked well behind everyone else or something if you felt that strongly about it.

I have bad asthma developed from having Covid last year. Why would I put myself at unnecessary risk because people are too bloody minded to wear a mask when in a large crowd. Hardly too much of a sacrifice to make to allow more people to go.

One thing Covid has shown up is the me feiners in our society.

You didn’t wear a mask when you ate your sandwich. Christ!

Another fairly ludicrous discussion in these parts.

If lads want to try and contravene the law - at least the spirit of it - and drink a bad takeaway coffee in a bookies shop - no less - to get one up on "the man," and spout rubbish on the internet, grand:pac:

At least you addressed the question. My issue is that it makes no sense. Maybe bookies should of been classified as hospitality because it makes an ass out of it tbh.

Jaysus, you kept that quiet. You're debating this for about 5 hours and only now are you saying that YOU did it today.

And had a winner! What a modest guy!!!

    Seems a bit "odd"

Nope , I didn't have it on for the whole time I was consuming . King of hard

I first posted in this at 6.30 this morning so a bit more than 5 hours ago. A pal told me yesterday of it and we tested the water today as I met a friend for a coffee. The winner paid for the Coffey's and the sandwich for us both, the only problem was there was no where to go for a pint. Anyway point proven !

So do you now see that in fact consumption of food on a retail premises is not permitted based on the fact that you are supposed to wear a mask at all times? Or do you believe laws are only applicable when there is someone around to enforce them?

I believe when the law is a ass no one obeys it like buying a condom in the 80s was illegal but hey I guess a few in here would find a reason to support that old one

So essentially your whole premise that you constructed of being allowed to eat in bookies while being prevented in cafes has come crumbling down, so it’s “yeah but what about”.

    Place gets funnier everyday

Yes even outdoors thousands of people together is a risk, really isn't that hard to understand. Masks lessen that risk.

    Here's a song especially for you :D

I don't remember 1000s of people gathering to protest restrictions.

I also don't understand your point.

The organizers of the event you were at asked people in attendance to wear masks you told me the vast majority did.

    What's your problem exactly?

You misread my post. They weren't gathering to protest restrictions but the gathering was outside what restrictions allow. You appear to be okay with that but because the organisers requested that people who attended wear masks which isn't required under the restrictions, you have a problem with people who didn't.

As was said here before is there a danger of the reopening of Outdoor Hospitality been moved to the 8th June because of a potential **** up by someone in the government who forgot the 7th was a bank holiday ?

That the restrictions being applied are ridiculous is so far as I can dine indoors in a bookies and break no law but in a coffee shop I am.

Yep heard that today, could t understand how the clowns didn't know the Monday was a bank holiday. Every outdoor pub in the country will be packed ! I'd say they were following the science again

Know it's called a calender it tells you when a bank holiday is, obviously the government don't have one. Maybe they should hire another adviser to advise when the next one is
