Is Startup worth sticking with? Watched one episode and thought it was poor

I actually gave up on it after about 4 episodes. Didn't seem to be going anywhere..

R.I.P.D is a fun family film. Very similar to Men In Black. 7/10

I've been trying to find the old General Streaming Recommendation thread to post this, but no luck. I've been watching For All Mankind on Apple TV and about 6 episodes in I'm really enjoying it. It's basically an alternative history of the space race where the Russians beat NASA to the moon.

    Sorry..... back to Netflix

Eminem six mile stands the test of the time.
Great ending and a savage sound track

It's possibly the best sci-fi show on "TV" nobody talks about; possibly cos it's on Apple TV in the first place so is kinda dying on the vine over there. Methinks were it on Netflix or Amazon it'd get a lot more eyeballs. Season 2 has a slightly more terrestrial pace but overall the show is fantastic.

I felt Six Mile just comes up short.

Yeah, the Ted Lasso show seems to be the only Apple show that anyone pays attention to. I really enjoyed Dickinson too, it's such a fun show and I saw someone say it's what Bridgerton wishes it was, but it doesn't seem to be talked about much either.

Mythic Quest is really good too.

Apple TV has good productions, just not enough (yet)

I've been watching For All Mankind. About 6 episodes into Season 2, and while it's not been as good as the amazing Season 1, it's still very good. It feels a bit more formulaic, building up to a finale, whereas the first season had special moments throughout it's run.

Loved Ted Lasso. Great ensemble cast, and Jason Sudeikis is a great lead for it.
I've watched all of Mythic Quest to-date, and that seems to be a show going from strength-to-strength. Plenty of zany characters.
Watched the first episode of Trying last night - and I'll be coming back for some more grounded comedy that Ted & MQ.

Most recent original I watched on Netflix was Jupiter's Legacy, found it an awful boring mess.
Would have preferred no back story, or just the back story - splitting the two side-by-side didn't offer much of anything up.
Felt like they were overly focused on teasing a Season Two, rather than trying to land Season One.

This is the problem with streaming services though. They all start out only doing a few shows, and they put a lot of time and effort into them, and initially it seems like their quantity to quality ratio is really high. Then they slowly pivot to "content" providers, and the ratio drops considerably.

Amazon still has a pretty high hit rate, but Netflix, while still producing good stuff, is weighed down by the sheer volume of "content". People expect nearly a new show every week from Netflix now, and there probably is a new show every week, but I'm happy if I get 3 or 4 really good shows a year out of my subscription.

Apple TV I am not convinced about, I get it for free but I don't think I'd pay for it.

The Morning Show was decent, albeit somewhat bland.

For All Mankind had a good first season but the second season was nowhere near as good.

Ted Lasso I thought was mediocre. I struggled through it.

If we're considering Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+/Star and Apple TV+ to be the major streaming subscription services, the latter is the only one I've never subscribed to. I couldn't even tell you how much it costs if you are not getting it for free.

I don't think I've any easy way to watch it without buying new tech which is the barrier for me that I don't get with the others although I could be wrong. There's definitely enough original content there that I'd be happy to pay for.

I did the free trial back in December to watch Wolfwalkers and ended up watching S1 of Dickinson then too. They started adding S2 of Dickinson in January but I just waited til it was all up and paid for a month, watched it and then someone told me to check out For All Mankind while I had it. I don't think I'd keep it all year round, to be honest. I'll just wait until they have a couple of new seasons of things and get a month subscription to watch them all. Not much use if you want to be able to be involved in realtime conversations and what not about a show, but for me it works.

I watch it on my Samsung Smart TV, I own no Apple products at all. I can watch it on my laptop easily too.

I had no idea Wolfwalkers was on apple TV+ and I see Boys State is also there. I had no idea that they even offered non original content.

Now I'm even more frustrated that there doesn't appear to be an easy way for me to watch on my TV without buying an additional bit of tech (it's not available on nowtv devices which is what I currently use).

I’m the same, my LG oled tv does not support Apple TV app as it’s too old

Yeah, Wolfwalkers is exclusively on there, and they're apparently only doing a limited edition physical release of it in a box set with Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, which is a bit annoying, but I'm getting very off topic now :D

The are are a few versions of that - the original (I think) is the Korean one and classed as a comedy but I didn’t get far into as the the story leading up to the imprisonment was quite upsetting as I recall.

I use a Roku which tends to negate issue of tv falling out of sync. It's pretty small and cheap. Lots of other options too.

Hoping that Army of the dead is worth watching after being let down by the last few Netflix movies.

The 2hr 28min runtime for Army of the Dead would put me off watching it. I'll definitely wait for others opinions.

30 mins into army of the dead and start is fairly decent and a bit tongue in cheek

Donald Clarke at the IT reckons it's a good watch ("it's a hoot" are his exact words and he ends his review looking forward to sequels). For whatever you think that's worth - for me that bumps it from "No thanks" to "maybe on a Friday with a pizza & beers".

Altes Geld is a slightly left of field recommendation.

    A dark Austrian farce.

    Enjoyed it.
