Does anyone know if there are people checking for tests in Connolly off the train passengers arriving from Belfast or from the bus passengers at dublin airport/busaras?
    Nope.

Just to remind you of your most recent post on this thread.

Yes. That exactly 100% proves my point. That was about an Irish person who said they didn't travel abroad last year because of their family.

Do you consider Irish people living in Ireland to be foreigners to it? Would it help if I linked to a dictionary definition of the word?

I made it to the emerald isle. Immigration weren't the friendliest but I got in after answering some questions and showing my PCR and locator email.
Today was day 5 and I got an SMS from gov.ie to contact a GP to schedule a free PCR which was news to me as I didn't know I could get it for free.
After some phonecalls and answering some questions I had a PCR appointment for less than two hours later.
Hopefully have results by tomorrow and I'm a free man.

Interesting criticism of MHQ in the Seanad today and positive to see calls for affordable testing in relation to the cert.

Did anyone in the Seanad today actually ask when the travel cert would be up and running in Ireland??? Would that not be the most important question?

    Nope.

So enter the state via an airport from the UK -> they demand PCR, locator form and 14 day quarantine

Enter the state via train/bus from the UK -> .. walk free no questions?

    Makes sense

I got the same text today, seems like the gov is "facilitating" life after all.

Thats good to read and I hope they do let the legislation lapse in June.

Its funny the comments Timmy Dooley and Regina Doherty made though, members of government parties, making it sound like the government were bullied into having mandatory hotel quarentining by the public and had no choice in implementing it. We vote for politicians to act in our best interests, not to go with whatever way the wind is blowing.

It’s the distinction between GB and NI rather than the modes of transport! If your bus could travel across the sea (eg on a ferry) you would still have PCR, PLF and quarantine. They can’t apply the same to MI given the open porous border which some have to traverse many times during the day.

I am fully aware. It does not detract from how short sighted the Irish government's decision to ignore the CTA was - in fact it highlights how ridiculous the decision was! The UK on the other hand recognise how silly ignoring the CTA for C19 purposes is and do not request anything of anyone coming from the Republic into the UK.

    Australia and New Zealand?
But won't they lock you up for 2 weeks if you go there?
And for 3 weeks in the case of Singapore.

That list is effectively Iceland and Portugal since you're either now allowed in to the other countries, they enforce quarantine or you can't without going through somewhere else. Bloody pointless

That's mental. They obviously don't want people travelling anywhere.

I dont know if it's to to fear of the virus/variants or it's an excuse to get a lot of people to spend their money in the UK. They did announce very optimistic economic growth forecasts this week that most experts expect them to fail to reach.

Did they just announce a list where every country currently has restrictions against those travelling from the UK? Iceland might have lifted quarantine restrictions for vaccinated travellers, and Portugal might sometime lift its non-essential travel ban, but that list beats even my pessimistic predictions!

Anyone know what the entry restrictions are for Gibraltar or the Falklands?

The law requires you to have a PCR and quarantine when entering from Northern Ireland as well as any other country.

The difference legally is that you are required to retain the PCR test for inspection for 14 days as opposed to presenting on arrival.

The difference in practice is that they wont know you entered

You can walk to Gibraltar from Spain now as they have re-opened the border.

Who da **** would be going to the Falklands?

If you went to Spain though, you'd have to quarantine I guess?

Just checked - Iceland only allows vaccinated travellers from the UK to enter and Portugal still has a non-essential travel ban on travel from the UK.

Good news for Portugal. Turkey added to the red list which is not so great for them.

Oh well, looks like that is off the cards. Pretty sure they will be working on something quickly to change that.

Nepal on the red list. Looks like climbing Everest needs to wait a while.

I think that it needs to be certified as essential and time-sensitive by a Dr and not sure dental particularly routine dental is included.

MHQ does not apply to Spain or its islands

Am I correct in saying there is no MHQ between UK and Ireland and they can come over here without MHQ on return?
