Ah sure how do I know he's not the (second) coming of the Messiah.

He might well be but you're making negative assumptions on the man and as I pointed out, victim blaming.

Sure he went off to Israel in the first instance so it's on his head that he can't come back. Tough luck.

How do you know his circumstances meant he had to go?

As per usual, your posts come off extremely condescending, blame the individuals when there is a shítshow elsewhere. Grand to be in the ivory tower.

This is one case and I don't see much point in discussing it. Better to look at the overall picture.

That's the spirit, put the head in the sand and all is OK.

Well he would have to have been an Israeli citizen to get into the place. Unless he is very high up and important enough to have been able to secure a personal exemption from the Israeli government. If it the latter, he probably wasn't struggling to make ends meet on the PUP in Dublin. If you are in charge of making the tea and buying the biscuits in the company, they're probably not going to be making high-level representations to have you let in.

He would also have had to do a mandatory quarantine when he landed there.

It's a tough situation. But I think it's bad form for people to be jumping on his misfortune in order to twist it to their own agenda

Who's twisting this into their own agenda?

Plenty of folks like me who are anti-MHQ in its current format and at this time could see this coming a mile down the road.

It's a typical example of what we feared most adding to the fact we've still no idea how countries get added/removed and the fear of the unknown how long certain countries will be on the list. 3/6/9/12/18+ months are not beyond the realms of possibilities.

The father is in intensive care. There would be no visitors regardless of whether you are coming from Tel Aviv or Tallaght.

Too many families have had to go through it already. Which is why we need restrictions and MHQ. One can't, with a straight face, feign concern for a specific individual, while simultaneously railing against restrictions which should help us get back to normal here sooner.

Family will be given access to him as his death approaches. Rooms are set aside for dying patients. I’ve lost 2 family members during both previous Irish lockdowns so I’m speaking from experience.

A critical part of the grieving process is for family to be able to support one another at what is an immeasurably difficult time for lots of people.

Treating bereavement and serious illness as a “get one with its approach for the “greater good” trivialising it, demeans the people involved and, given the laws in place, makes criminal anyone who doesn’t conform.

    It’s wrong.

Eamon Ryan on radio this morning saying those who are fully vaccinated may soon be exempt from quarantine.

They know they're losing these cases I think

It certainly seems we’ll be heading into a world where the vaccinated only will have the privilege of flying( a lot less hassle anyway). Great news if true. It might make more people think about taking the vaccines.

Another interesting case, but ultimately it's the same argument as the rest, the fact that his father is dying makes us all sympathetic, but doesn't really come into the legalities or constitutionality of the law.
Same thing happened to my friends husband, father dying in Oz, authorities wouldn't exempt him from quarantine, so he didn't go.

I hope the challenges do work, btw

Well you can be someone who recently recovered fully from Covid. And you could be after getting 10 regular PCR tests in the last 2 days. Chinese anal swabs too to check for the covid - although you were just going for those anyway and hadn't been aware that they were for covid until after they took them. But still you have them now. Received the moderna, pfizer, astrozenica and sputnik vaccines. They still won't let you into Israel.

An update on those vaccine evading variants thanks to the vaccine thread.

Did it occur to you that rather than people using this to twist it to their agenda, a lot of people might be terrified that they or their families could end up in a similar position?

Yeah, plenty of people are worried that they will have a sick family member in hospital whom they won't be able to go in to see. That is why they want external restrictions so that we can lift internal local ones.

We can get back to more or less normal here and we create an "airlock" at entry points to keep us at that normal

It is not like they did not know that there would be people fully vaccinated for when the legislation was drafted. Entirely avoidable.

This is an example of another example of a cluster muck that the government have made. I have a little lad, he is 5 years old. A few years ago, he was diagnosed with axvery rare syndrome which needs regular treatment and medicine. There is only specialist who can deal with this in Ireland but there is a 2-3 years waiting list.

Our little lad was diagnosed in Europe after a 3 day for an appointment. Great, but he needs to visit there every few weeks. 4 paediatricians here never heard of the syndrom as it is so rare.

He could fly there on a Thursday night and just miss 1 day of school.

I didn't get to finish my message. My little lad could miss 1 day from school. What now? Now he and my wife will have to spend 2 weeks in detention each time. Plus the additional costs. Plus I will have to take time off work to mind the other children.

Even if they were exempt from the MHQ, there will be nobody flying and they probably can't get flights.

I'm writing to my local TD's but I'm not expecting much help to be honest

What about people with normal Flu. That could kill an older vulnerable Flyer. Should people with the normal Flu be banned also. What about other conditions people can die from. Its a load of ****e and the cave dweller's probably won't fly anyway.

The Israeli Nurse is being released too. Looks like they don't want these cases going to court.

What about all the times you said you had the answers?
    What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
    What about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?

    What are these “further documentation”?

Or maybe the state knows he’s likely to win

Pink fan? That’s mad, from your posting style I had you pegged as a retired gentleman in his 70’s.

She's not a nurse. She's someone with an undergraduate degree in science and an MBA who works for some health services company (or something to that effect).

Fair enough to correct that on here I think given that she put herself in the public eye

There is no need to incorrectly describe her as a nurse.

They know the high court will rule against the state so. House of cards...

Sure retired gentlemen in their 70's can still like a bit of the oul' "pink". Especially if there is a younger Eastern European ex-model bored about the gaff.

    I'll resign.

Like the end of Spartacus the movie. We can all put ourselves forward.

But if a shambles really, Donnelly himself tweeted a few weeks back that there would be tough cases but there can’t be exceptions.

    Now we have exceptions...

Just continue to be nastier by the minute.

Some full of excuses, trying everything to explain away why the guy couldn't see his father and why the vaccinated lady from Israel had to stay in quarantine, and now that both are released, completely upending these said excuses, just turn to bitter digs. Very sad.
