I think we are only talking about bans of export of Astra Zenaca because they aren't meeting their deal with us.

Pfizer are meeting their contract with us so we don't really care what they export.

I'm just worried about tit for tat hitting us.

We ban export of AZ, UK ban export of Pfizer ingredients and we end up with factories being closed.

I'm talking about AZ . Last I heard there were sending a batch on the last day of Q1 . It may have changed since

I think some of that will be delivered in early April. The 10m doses that will be released when the Halix plant is approved won't arrive until April.

but i personally have seen a lot of people pass in the last few weeks. I hope the vaccine is not pushing the borderline ones over the edge.

The Irish Times have run an article on new AZ vaccine hesitancy here ...
Some doctors are reporting there is still “huge concern” among patients about the AstraZeneca vaccine in spite of the ruling on its safety by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Dr Paul O’Keeffe of Broadale Surgery in Maryborough, Cork. said he is glad he using the Pfizer vaccine because at the moment AstraZeneca is a “hard sell” with the public.
There is huge concern trying to convince the public on Astrazeneca.

Not good. Ireland are not alone.

The NY Times have an interesting report on EU vaccine issues here which includes this ...
Only one in five French people now trust the AstraZeneca vaccine, according to a poll by the Elabe Institute published Tuesday.

Vaccine hesitancy is one of the main obstacles to herd immunity but thankfully Ireland is nowhere near as bad as France or the US on this.

In the US a quarter of lawmakers have refused a vaccine!! Perfectly in line with the fact that a quarter of US adults also say they will refuse a vaccine.

Guess what, nearly everyone over 80 who has died in the past couple of weeks have been vaccinated recently

I know that. I am pro vax. My father got the vaccine lately and feels better than he ever did even with underlying respiratory problems. I am just commenting that i have been to more funerals in the last few weeks than i have been in years. Completely coincidental im sure but food for thought.

If that Halix plant is approved next week we might see those fabled AZ supplies.

Presumably, there'll be enough people willing to take the AZ vaccine in this country to bring about a reduction in the restrictions to Level 3 by the end of May.

We'll see, appearently there's large deliveries due in the last days of March from AZ & Pfizer. We'll see what comes to pass

And we are waiting - as we agreed many pages back - however the lack of updates , much like when a child playing in the room next door goes silent, is worrying. Only 11 days left in the quarter, and a lot of promises hanging on those 11 days

I don't think a lack of willingness to get a jab is an issue, actual supplies will be but if we can see signs of rapid progress in vaccinations it'll calm people down.

This might be a vaccination option for some!
Northern Ireland authorities say residents of the Republic with old UK GP numbers who apply to be vaccinated in the six counties will not face any sanction.

Mate who moved home a few years ago from UK tried it yesterday, booked online then got a phone call not long after and told appointment cancelled, not eligible. They're clamping down on it.

Your father feeling better than he ever did is nothing to do with his vaxx.

The numerous funerals you attended despite restrictions on attendance are also nothing to do with the vaxx.

    Food for thought?

2 more cases of blood clots in Denmark with one death after two hospital staff members received the AstraZeneca vaccine less than 14 days before getting ill.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-denmark/denmark-reports-two-cases-of-blood-clots-after-astrazeneca-shot-idUSKBN2BC0A4?il=0

I won't be taking it myself as the benefits don't outweigh the risks for me.

You're welcome to it I reckon I'm one of the last in line as a healthy person in their 30s.

Did he contact the GP he was registered with to see if he was still on their list? Also not certain about this but unless he was older would he have been able to register for the online mass vaccination center lists?

Why is it that all the people who seem to be getting these clots are health care workers, surely there's a link there?

It seems to be linked to under-50s and healthcare workers are pretty much the only under-50s receiving it at the moment.

They're generally the ones getting vaccines at this stage of the rollout, also a high proportion are relatively young and female.

Important thing to note is that these 2 cases were of people who had the vaccine in the 14 days prior, there is no evidence of a causal link between the two, and from data received so far, they probably would have had thrombotic events if they hadn't been vaccinated.

Countries in the main so far are only vaccinating older people and health care workers, and as AZ isn’t being given to the older cohort then the recipients are only hcw’s. Re female, at a guess the industry is dominated by females but that is a very simplistic reason, maybe contraceptive pill could be a factor too. Both guesses on my part

That's the case in Ireland, is it also the case in other countries?

Ok then. You are obviously more informed than me.

BTW there is nothing to stop someone attending a grave anywhere in the country at any stage.

Yeh that makes sense , I was wondering about HRT or the pill myself

You've a greater chance of getting covid and getting blood clots from it than getting blood clots from any vacine. Even for a healthy person in their 30s. Similar applies for any other serious side effects.

If you are fearing the reaction from a benign part of the virus in a syringe imagine what the reaction would be from the virus itself.
Anyway too late, back of the q.

The UK are vaccinating all adults with AZ, my brother and sister in law got it and they're in 60s and 70s. I haven't heard any reports of unusual numbers there, although the way things have been recently you have to wonder if they'd tell us.

    They were/are not reporting it

How long until the EU block exports of the vaccines . Few threats from them today

Ursula must be confident she can get the vital ingredients from elsewhere, otherwise she looks clueless and it's a bit cringeworthy.
