    Mad money in hindsight
Wow that’s some money. I’m curious to know club but if you don’t want to say that’s ok

A bit pointless detailing the subscription without also naming the club. What's expensive in monetary terms is relative to the course I would think. 1500 is dear but is 1500 dear if its royal county down or the old head to be a member of?!!!!

I don't see why you don't post what club the membership price is also. It's not like this is confidential information or anything. Once the information is accurate and not false, there's no issue.

I've no problem with the clubs being named - only if their prices are available on their respective websites / social media outlets. A lot of clubs you have to contact them for membership rates so maybe they don't want them published.

That is Dun Laoghaire and details are available on their website.
I was a Junior member there moved abroad for 5 years so they wouldn't let me have Intermediate membership on return which is significantly cheaper.

It is a great course, albeit it with some fundamental flaws but I loved being a member there as had developed good friendships with a lot of members built over the years.

    €1100 maybe a bit more.

    Full Membership €650

Distant Membership has gone up though from €200 to €300 to get the same terms it was last year. They've split it into 5 and 7 day distant membership. The 5 day one is the same price as the proper distant membership used to be.

€2500 with a discount if you pay by the end of Jan

How much is the discount? If I lived beside or near that club I’d bite your arm off to join, what a course!

Edit - didn’t want to mention the exact club.

45 holes! wow, didn't know anywhere in Irl that has that many.

I went to Bethpage for a look one year. 5 x 18 hole courses on the one grounds. Nuts.

What do you get for your annual sub usually?

Is it just the cost of maintaining the course?

Corrstown and Forest Little had playing rights in each other’s course, hence you had access to 45 holes but it ended last year.

If clubs don't want to publish their prices that's fair enough, but if someone wants to share how much they paid that's fair enough too. It's not up to us to keep their fees a secret.

Course and clubhouse/grounds devolpment, marketing, office staff, maintainence, savings and loan repayments are a few I can think of.
Interclub costs I presume come out of this or do the player pay for it?

Absolutely. I don't see the point in someone saying 1000 or 1500 or 2000. Is it in Dublin, cork, Galway or Donegal. Price is relative. I only see a problem if someone posts false information here. Why is posting subscription and club wrong?

Social levy is €200, insurance is €27 and covers personal accident, loss of clubs and hole in one (limited €120 bar tab I think).

Insurance hasn’t covered bar tab in years as far as I am aware

It did until about two years ago, 200 quid but back to car draw again.

Last 6 holes are being re-vamped and scheduled to re-open in May. The holes look nice but the course will be about 400 yards shorter.

Has got very boggy over the last few years.

Need to up their game considerably to justify the premium vs other courses in the Midlands.

It was covered in 2019 at our place, so you could be right.

I never ask tbh and just pay up as insurance risk wise there is more chance of me skulling someone than getting a hole in one. :D

Sounds like you're trying to sell it to us! :)
    Pyramid scheme perhaps...I jest.

Cut and paste from the marketing blurb. :D
It's probably good value if I had the bloody chance to use it! I've been working from home through all this for the last year. When golf returns, I'm seriously thinking about taking 3 months off, buying a tent and going to live on the course :)
