If the Germans are as reported sitting on 1.5 Million doeses for AZ that they can't administer for whatever reason, not giving it to over 65's., The population don't want it etc. Would it not make sense to have these redirected to other EU countries that would take them. Ie Us. Or am I missing something?

The French and Germans governments are making a big public push again, admitted their initial concerns were disportionate as the studies from the UK Scotland etc are now proving , US trials will be done this month. Not a chance they are gonna sell their allocation off to other countries unless it's clearly a lost cause, which it isn't ....yet.

I guess you are right. Even if we could do a swap. Give us 1 mil of theirs now if they are not using it immediately and we will allocate 1 mil of ours back say in 6 weeks or two months time. It just seems such a shame to have it sitting in storage when we have a willing population here sleeves rolled up ready to go.

Can you not read? They are obviously thinking about it.

The Government could introduce so-called “green cards” that allow people who have been vaccinated to access services including gyms and cinemas.

The system is currently being used in Israel, where citizens who are inoculated against Covid-19 have been provided with a green pass.

The pass allows people to access gyms, restaurants, hotels and concerts.

I can read very well, thank you. I think you should read it again. This time more slowly.

Read it again more slowly. Nowhere in the article does it say that the government is considering. It states 'could' consider. That is a huge difference.

Why did you put member in inverted commas?

Is there any hope for holidays around September/October if this good news keeps coming?

With vaccination ramping up there is every hope. I'm hoping to travel in September.

No you are just nitpicking the article or my post. If they are talking about it they are considering it. The probability is high they’ll bring it in. But if it makes you feel better would you like me to edit my original post to ‘thinking of considering green cards’?

No, you are misinterpreting what is, to begin with, a very poor article.

Do we know if you are vaccinated you can still pass on the virus to other people

Other countries are showing that vaccines do stop the spread

A number of studies have suggested that both AZ and Pfizer appear to reduce transmission, and possibly quite significantly. This would be a real game changer.

Courtesy of Fergal Bowers on Twitter (hattip to irishlad), I've reoriented the Cohort 3 breakdown and the original rollout plan to make them easier to read. The dates may have slipped, but it's still a useful guide.

With the US approving the Johnson and Johnson vaccination, we sound probably in March see it approved here as well.

Also interesting that my parents in the US have been told that they are moving to only one vaccination for Pfizer/ Moderna as this is good enough (still 80%+ efficacy) and the Phase IV information is supporting it. So they’ll get it next week and won’t need a second dose. They’re based in California and my aunt in Massachusetts has been told the same so it all seems to be heading this way, along with the UK, so we could shortly be seeing this as the official guidelines worldwide. I’d say by April the official dosing guidelines will be changed, if the information coming back remains the same.

I know this is complete hearsay but I wonder if this is the way we will go.

Reportedly Pfizer is 90% effective after 1 shot
J&J is 66% after 1 shot and is called a game-changer as its one shot.

If the regime does change the UK will have 1/3 of the population done and finished.

Did we hit the 100,000 vaccines administrated this week?

I would think long before September especially if travelling inside the EU and if vaccinated.

The UK roadmap has international travel allowed from 17 May at the earliest.

The EU have said that green passports, for EU wide travel, will be ready in late May.

Perhaps people will be allowed do intra EU travel from around 1 June if they have been vaccinated.

With the vaccine rollout and lifting of restrictions, I reckon both the hospitality and travel industry will be in for a boom Autumn. People will want to go out to eat and do a bit of travel.

Maybe it is a better idea for EU countries to get the supply and vaccination roll out sorted first, before they start planning on which tourists might allow in or not.

"if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be."
