I've a big problem you accusing protestors of being racists.

Normanoffside was at the protest, are they racist too?

Quite sickening that this is allowed, I've reported them posts.

I absolutely abhor racism. It's the worst trait in the world. I actually told Richard Boyd Barret that I don't like his zero Covid approach because it is xenophobic
I knew I would probably be accused of racism for going to this protest.
    People are predictable.

Interesting to see someone take offence at someone being called racist.

Yet when a Garda is actually assualted with a firework

Just a friendly reminder that it's possible to be critical of lockdown, to condemn violent protestors, and to also understand the reasons why these protests are happening - all at the same time.

Though their means are wrong, the message they are sending out is a legitimate one: end the draconian neverending perma-lockdown now.

Do you not think they realise the repercussions of covid?

Between posts on Tony Holohan trying to close pubs and government trying to control people,!

Of course the government know the costs to the country. Yes they got a lot wrong but you can't say he,s not worried.

No he’s not fcuking worried. Christ almighty. He couldn’t give a hoot

His pension and future is safe

It’s a win win situation for Leo

Racists and violent scum has been uttered on this thread numerous times today by that poster. A lot of middle-class, well educated people attended the protest also and here we have a poster with free reign generalising them all as "racist, violent scum".

    Sickening narrow mindedness.

Looked like a decent enough crowd from some of the videos doing the rounds. Maybe a couple of thousand all in. Clearly more than a couple of hundred that the media are reporting.

Looks like 300-400 hundred were outside the GPO, most of the attendees appear to be tramps from the footage and photos.

Look at the racist reception this black man is getting on his videoing of the protests

You have a big problem with the Irish National Party being racist or me calling them racist?

Either way, you'll have to take it up with the Guards.

Well-organised right-wing group 'willing to use violence' behind protest as fireworks aimed at frontline Gardai

You'll have to report them too I suppose.

Can you please quote posts where the user did this, I don't want to accidentally assume you are a troll who has lost the argument and resorted to playing the 'racist' card.

Fair play to you for heading out today.

In years when we look back at this period, at least you can say you made an effort to end the madness of the severest lock down in Europe.

The point is not violence. It s the fact that they gathered during restrictions , and most probably there out of boredom and no real interest

The reason the majority of people staying within they,re 5 k is to get numbers down and give vaccines a chance to be given out so we can have some sort of summer

I always find that mind reading is not an exact science and should be avoided whenever possible.

People are allowed to protest, it's a cornerstone of any democracy. Protests often spill over over and can be used to attack them or belittle them.

Listen to what you're saying though. Keep the Stay at home orders so we MAY have a chance at a summer. It pretty unbelievable what the government have been able to get away with regarding trampling all over civil liberties. Flatten the curve, protect the vulnerable, prevent death, give the vaccines a chance, etc, etc, etc.

The main takeaway from the recent copy and paste document that was released on Tuesday is that the government want to keep the option of restrictions during this coming Winter "just in case" the health service is under strain from other respiratory illnesses. Let that sink in. There is no exit strategy from this, even with vaccines, that has been clearly communicated to us. Something is going to give sooner rather than later.

They will likely serve months living under suppression with questionable human right’s infringement

Or they may actually go to jail

And if you read it correctly I said most probably.
If you think all the people there today were thinking of the good of the country and people you,re sadly mistaken

Yes things have been done wrong, I doubt many would argue with that but if we have any chance of helping our health service cope then we have to do our best regardless of what we think of governm6

We'll see, I remember some ISAG posts getting the treatment here as the posters were criticizing them. Let's see if those standards are upheld today.

    Thoughts?

Re protest today and if there is further coming, do people think this will have any influence on on government in decreasing/increasing restrictions or absolutely no impact at all?

The thing is, if we just followed the actual science and allowed people to travel freely and kept construction open like every other country in the world, I think people would be a lot more understanding.

But we insist on being an outlier and enforcing restrictions that no other country deems necessary.

The 5KM nonsense should be scrapped tomorrow and people encouraged to go to the beach/park etc to try and salvage the mental health of the nation.

Might speed up the purchase of a water cannon for the Garda to use if nothing else.

Most likely those pictured are no doubt not ‘out of work ‘ but opting out of work, a career choice. Choosing not to enable themselves with one...

Lol . These scummers would be unemployable trash with or without covid , However they now have something to blame. When covid eventaully passes these lot will be blaming something or someone else

Norman the posters you are responding to have absolutely no interest in looking at any links to articles or videos posted to engage in any form of debate

One liners and emojis is the level of debate with posters who suggest none of those at today’s protest have jobs
