Not announce lockdowns as a solution every time. Open up the building sites. Increase the rate of vaccinations (Wales has done a million so far). Announce a clear fcuking plan.

Do you reckon the people that were protesting today are worried about the building sites or getting their vaccination?

Christ on bike, the way people are going on you'd swear this was like the storming of the Capitol building. You'd see much worse all around the country at halloween and it doesn't get a fraction of this coverage.

Scummy behaviour by what is clearly a handful of thugs doesn't negate the entire protest.

That said, this is a wet dream for the media and government.

The anti lockdown brigade are in the main right wingers, i thought that was obvious

And the lockdown fans are virtually all hard leftists. Because they are lazy and enjoy being on welfare.

Just back from the protest. Had a great day out. Lots of people from all political persuasions, ethnicities and social classes. It Was great to see such a large turnout despite last minute Gardai attempts to stop it happening. The next one will be a lot bigger.

Didn't look like much of a turnout in the media, just the usual collection of those types. A small tragic ensemble of the hopeless and inept.

There were at least 3-4k and that was despite Gardaí fining people on their way in. Around Grafton St, Crowds were cordoned in to small corners because the green was closed but once it git moving you could see the numbers.
This is towards the end and a lot ahd gone home. Do you see only a few hundred?

Here's a lovely aeriel view...... A few hundred is generous.

****ing twats causing trouble is the only thing that will be taken from the protest today.

What could have been seen as a reasonable protest against utter mismanagement by the government, continued calls for restrictions in the face of vaccines, and the strictest lockdowns in the world, has become nothing more then a bunch of scumbags looking for a fight.

    Were BLM there too?

Remember when the Gardai baton charged them and the protests were condemned across the political spectrum?

    Nah. Me neither.

Takeaway pints will be the next mega target, a decent crowd in Waterford city having them from the one place that's open

Did people turn up to those protests with weapons and fireworks to fire at the gardai?

The point is not violence. It s the fact that they gathered during restrictions , and most probably there out of boredom and no real interest

The reason the majority of people staying within they,re 5 k is to get numbers down and give vaccines a chance to be given out so we can have some sort of summer

Regardless of the rubbish you read here everyone knows the type that populated Grafton Street today.

    Also 3 to 4k...lol

The usual suspects are really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one.

Usually it's just lies and untruths that destroy their credibility but if this is the rock they want to die on let them at it.

    It's good for a giggle.

Looked like a decent enough crowd from some of the videos doing the rounds. Maybe a couple of thousand all in. Clearly more than a couple of hundred that the media are reporting.

    Why is that I wonder?

That picture was taken at 4pm it was mostly over.
Yes there were a few far right people there, I saw the National party handing out fliers and refused them.

The crowd was mixed, lots of Muslims, Brazilians and Black people, all welcomed and no animosity towards anyone. Half of the musicians due to appear before the park was shut and the entertainment cancelled are from ethnic minorities.
The Media will of course try to spin this as a far-right protest but it was not.

not a hope, they targeted them before and realised they could do very little as they are linked to off sales. Don't see the appeal of them tbh, maybe guinness

I've a big problem you accusing protestors of being racists.

Normanoffside was at the protest, are they racist too?

Quite sickening that this is allowed, I've reported them posts.

The people who will turn out for protests are the one's who are sick of media and their blatant spin and hysteria...every one knows how the media and politicians will handle this.

These protests are going to take off...people have been pushed to far for too long by this shambles of a leadership.

There's absolutely no doubt that some of them were. The vast majority weren't I'd imagine.

    .

You have a big problem with the Irish National Party being racist or me calling them racist?

Either way, you'll have to take it up with the Guards.

Well-organised right-wing group 'willing to use violence' behind protest as fireworks aimed at frontline Gardai

You'll have to report them too I suppose.

Watch the Government leap on this bandwagon like they did for Berlin D2 and takeaway pints while ignoring outbreaks in hospitals and nursing homes at all costs.
