If you have any idea the amount of Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts that I bought and ultimately ended up burned in a field it would make you cry.

Some of them were minters too.

My father had a yard/field full of escorts, capris, beetles, morris minors etc. Farmer down the road had a big quarry, all the cars ended up in there and filled in

I had one for 12 years, sold it on 4 years ago for €2000, it was immaculate with 100k miles, don’t think the new owner took as much care of it as me though.

Sure that was the natural cycle of things they were well used and abused.

Maybe in the UK but I can honestly say I never saw one Irish car that was decent.

I see two golfs on done deal in the classic section down as classics, one is 00 and the other is 99. are they really worth the 1750 asking price for the 00?
and are they insurable as classics at 20 year old?

I've a 02 golf diesel here and when I sold my 09 a4 diesel, I was with allianz who quoted me 1200 euro tpf&t. I was getting a company van so didn't go with it in the end. the golf was paid for and I didn't want to hold onto the Audi as it was worth too much to be sitting there. the opinion was here that the Insurers had a high value on the insurance for an older car.

Yes you can insure 20 years old cars as classics.

I have a 1999 Fiesta on its own classic policy with Autoline.

The insurance companies can be choosy in what they will insure as a classic too. So for example German cars generally fine, Japanese cars of a similar vintage can be harder.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Very true, I can't insure my 97 Prelude as a classic here. I'm insured with a crowd up North.

€1550 for a 25 year old non runner Corolla van.

It's worth that in parts in fairness.

TSW Stealths are worth a few bob now (who'd have thought it)
Those bootlid center garnishes used to sell for 2-300 on their own.
Has GXi body kit, 20 valve front bumper, clear parking lights, 3dr wind deflectors, bootlid spoiler and that's just what you can see in the photos.

Diesel engine and box would be prime for export too.

I’d love to stick a 2.0 TD or even D-4D into one of those

There’s more to that place than meets the eye.
If you know their background you’ll understand why running €20k through the books for something that cost them a lot less would make sense.
Ah..I pass that place regularly and couldn’t figure what was going on...are they tied in with the mystery lads 7 or 8 miles over the road who also seem to have come from nowhere ?

Oh Jesus, that bloody start button. I have so many questions.

    Also, "Stage 11 from 148HP - 212HP"

Tuning the engine to put out about 150% of its designed power cant be good.

The Aston badges on the handles are top notch.

I'd also like to know what stages 1-10 involve.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,884 ✭✭✭Tzardine

It was for sale a year ago when it was standard for €10,500.

08 Alfa Spider 177k km (dash says km, nct says miles), at least it’s the 2.4 diesel, but €14750, nuts.

Price drop, now €13750. Only another €10k to go.
