Cold air advection in from the UK aiding with drier air and colder temps right by the sea. Its evident all up on down the eastern coastline with very low dewpoints and decreasing air temperatures also as the wind picks up drawing in that nice crisp air. There was never any doubt this would happen, my only fear is moisture and how much of it especially so close to the Wicklow range. Snow will be the outcome even on the beach, just hope air does not dry out too much though along the east coast.

    Temp 1.4C
    Dp -2.7C

Wind is crazy here on the meath coast, have east & south facing windows in the apartment walls / roof & windows creaking quite alot and the worst is yet to come on Sunday with simular wind direction?

It's fairly windy here in coastal Dublin too. I don't have any measuring equipment here, but Dublin airport is near enough and was reporting 20kt winds with 32kt gusts an hour ago

Place is slowly going white here. That mixture of graupel and snow. Wasn't expecting anything here till later on.

Radar looks OK so far for Dublin. The southeast steer of precipitation off the Irish Sea should mean we are OK here rather than being shadowed (just about).

Took a quick video, worried the sheeting on the roof is going to come off!

Very windy here now north-west kilkenny
Snow is not really sticking at all. V similar to the other day, probably too dry. Maybe it will change with heavier showers over the next hour.

I hope it picks up and those from north of here get some snow :D

2021- The year it nearly snowed.

It started to rain here near Westport a couple of hours ago, then the rain turned icy, later mixed with sleet, and now it's mostly snow again. It is sticking and all the surfaces where the snow had melted are white again.
The temp. has been dropping tonight from today's max. of +3.5ºC to +0.4ºC now (dew point now -0.1ºC ), it's blowing gale force E-SE.
    The west is awake !

In South Kilkenny. It's gone from 3 C an hour ago to 0.7 now. The rain has turned to snow and we have a covering. Unbelievable.

If the UK Met model is in anyway right, then snow reports over the next couple of hours will more likely to be coming in from the shaded regions on the map:

Starting to snow here and stick, and this is before the big blob arrives, have a little snow left from last night. Good luck everyone!

It is quite an event once these fronts hit cold air like this. Sadly we don't get it more often.

If only it would turn back just before the mild air gets in.

These are some weird-ass conditions at the moment.

I'm normally out doing Astronomy at this hour on clear nights and honestly all my gear would be dripping wet with dew. I just felt the grass outside and it's bone dry. Like BONE dry. It's very very strange! Location Ashford Co Wicklow.

Clear spells and some cloud but otherwise a lovely night so far.

Funny Story. Was doing an Public Outreach Event in Glendalough in '08 with my 12in Orion Dob. Very cold, beautiful skies, excellent Seeing, Mirror Fan on all night to cool the mirror to ambient and keep dew off. Packed up at the end of the night, headed back to Bray, decided to setup in the back garden for one last look at the Sky before packing Scope away in the Shed. Couldn't see an effing thing. WTF is going on!!! Secondary hasn't fallen off/rotated-check, didn't leave a lens cap on-Check, WTF is it?? I look down Tube. LMFAO. :D My moisture filled exhalations in the car on the way home had all condensed on the super-cooled Main Mirror and it had a mm or two thick Fern jack frost all over it!! :D
