Anyone find it interesting that temps seem to be dropping out west when they were progged to increase or will that happen as the front clears?

Met.ie Radar looks like all the intense precipitation is heading from Connacht to Ulster. Whats heading for the East Coast looks much lighter. That said there are artefacts that look like SW of Dublin is in a Wicklow Mountains radar shadow (Not to be confused with Wicklow Mountain Snow shadow for North Kildare), so for all we know there is similar intensity headed Dublin/Wicklows way but its just not showing on Radar.

However front appears to have arrived earlier to the East than expected and it looks like its passage will be quicker than expected too. 3hrs worth at most.

With my Pessimists Hat on, I think this is going to be Light Precipitation for the East, that goes through quick, all in the hours of Darkness....and will have melted/sublimated before it gets bright out and anyone gets to enjoy it even the Sunrise photographers on the Seafront.

With my Optimists Hat on, OMG 10cm on Bray Seafront!! The precipitation ended before it started falling as rain, Blue Skies, Its Noon here and there are thousands out for a Walk on the Seafront in the Glorious Snow and Icy Blue Sunshine before it sublimates away this evening!!

I've a feeling my Pessimist Hat will Win I'm afraid though. :D

Jesus H can Dublin catch a break! Im going to have to start making snowmen out of Sam Maguires at this rate!

I remember posting early in the week saying what the accuweather app had as the temperatures for the week and people laughed saying how it was unreliable. Turns out it was bang on, and right again tonight showing rain and sleet

Decent dusting here now in South Laois, even the salted footpaths are taking on a whiter shade of grey now. Road is white as is the grass. Air temps have also dipped slightly further to -0.3c.

Wicklow shadow seems to be showing up in Casement's cloudbase. It's been rising steadily over the past few hours while Dublin Airport's has been coming down.

Just been outside here and it's a bone dry night. Not one tingle of a crystal on my face.

Ok, there's a royal sh1tstorm of wet snow coming in now. Torn between peeking out the door and watching the Ted/Flash Gordon snowstorm videos YT is feeding me. That'll be the cheap brandy operating system in play.

On those rising cloudbases at Casement, here is the comparison with Dublin Airport. Mid-level cloud has been coming down alright (latest at 6500 ft), but lowest cloud has been rising, meaning the lower levels have been drying in that shadow. The opposite at Dublin Airport.

wind is really howling here at Dunshaughlin and a light mixture of freezing rain and ice pellets is starting, maybe it will turn to snow if precipitation gets heavier but I have my doubts on that.

Temperature has defo gone down here in Carrick on Shannon it's now 0c and feels like - 6c, still snowing but not really sticking, it will have to be heavier if I want a white one

Such a pity that the front is going to win and not stall. Could have been a classic.

Don’t want the snow to take a while to lie.
