This is nonsense. We'll be at 100 per days at the end of March. Numbers can fall with schools open, as they did in October. They just need to sit on cases where there do arise and test around those cases and make sure they stay at home.

We haven’t a notion of getting -100 cases a day for a month straight while schools are open

    https://www.independent.ie/news/taoiseach-now-unlikely-to-travel-to-washington-as-white-house-examines-virtual-st-patricks-day-meeting-40085139.html

Now we're forgoing one of the best economic and political opportunities Ireland gets on an annual basis. Thanks to the Left (Sinn Féin supporters) and others campaign for Martin not to 'travel' - the new dirty word.
Give over will ya, Joe told him to take a hike, way more important things to be doing than being presented with a bowl of weeds.

SF being blamed for the fact Biden didn't invite him.

    You couldn't make it up.

I know it may come as a shock after the artificially tanned one hosted several super covid spreader events at the actual White House, but Biden is actually taken the pandemic which has killed at least half a million people and hospitalized 4 million + more a tad bit seriously.

As you said the exchange of different shaped grass can be done via web-ex, they can post the seeds, it won't make Joe love Ireland any less.

Such a weak argument. Essentially you're saying that people die anyways, sure what does it matter if the figure increases.

I'm pretty sure that someone who is in the vulnerable category would prefer to live under restrictions for however many months if that means they'll survive the pandemic and continue to live a normal life for years afterwards. And the very few who don't feel that way, sure they're going to break the restrictions anyways.
I have heard many old people that would rather take their chances rather then live like prisoners in nursing homes not allowed to see their families..

You dont have to be over 65 or old enough to be resident in a nursing home, to be in a vulnerable category.

It's funny he would never have normally been anywhere near taoiseach and it took the culling in 2010 to give him his chance

And the only reason he survived 10 terrible weak years in opposition is because FF was stripped of any one with a pair of balls

Sure he might get a chance in 2 years time

They know damn well that those levels are not achievable with the way people behave these days. They are hoping for a peer pressure effect to develop in the society. Ultimately, those who don’t comply with the rules will be ostracised. And one of the strongest needs of a human being is to belong. So very hard to go against the herd.

Perhaps but following the restrictions means voluntarily acceding to that very same isolation and lack of belonging.

People are demotivated and demoralised in general. Ostracising another person means ostracising yourself to some small degree, not an easy thing to do nowadays.

Just to punish myself I went back to the various Relaxation of Restrictions topics.
It is alarming the fact that at several stages many of us became aware that this is not going to end any sooner, but the cohort of restrictionists dismissed everything as "nonsense".
"Stop with your hysteria everything will reopen before the end of the year"
"Ah you just need to be resilient a bit of good self isolation won't harm anybody"
"We are closing now so that xmas will be the new rebirth, and the vaccination will start at full speed : reopening the country is just a matter of days...March at the latest."
Well the story is repeating itself, despite shifting the goalpost, the restrictionists are firmly convinced that we have a target, an objective a plan to put this farce to an end and everything imposed on our existence is only to have a better tomorrow: not much of a consolation but I feel like a modern-age digital Cassandra
I also would like to re-post the trailer of this movie that seem to be every day closer to reality, perhaps it will help more people to open their eyes to what it's really happening:

Any chance the cinemas will open after 5th March?

It’s unbelievable that even this time next year we could still be living under restrictions. Like I won’t not put it past the shower in the Dail to still have restrictions imposed on us next year.

We will definitely be living with restrictions this time next year, how strict those restrictions are is anyone's guess.

At least, NPHET will create the need for restrictions.

It's going to take massive public resistance to these inhumane restrictions because clearly, they have abandoned science, ignoring the social and economic cost of all of this...people need to start doing what is best for themselves and their families!

At some stage we'll have a moral obligation to disobey unjust laws.

A child could see that years of prolonged isolation is not an ethical form of medicine.

The Hippocratic Oath is: 'First, do no harm'

Even the oft-used term "mental health" is wide of the mark. It doesn't just start to become bad when people start to go insane.

Ya, I can see restrictions for some time to come, what will happen in my opinion is public push back, riots, protests, as more and more people realize how permanent these restrictions are becoming, some of the restrictions will stay.

This is like a contagion, and make no mistake, there will be entities that are perfectly capable of taking advantage of the circumstances.

We have never seen anything like this before so nobody has any idea what could happen next...did anyone seriously think we would be in strict lockdown for a year this time last year as we watched the news, did any of us think this virus would prove to be a lot more deadly...yet here we are!

Ah yes it’s got nothing to do with the Sinn Fein campaign online to stir up discontent about Martin going, it just all came out of thin air.

Are you aware that there already have been protests and riots all around Europe over the last couple of weeks alone?

I dont think its that far fetched. Certainly if the PUP tap is turned off there will be trouble. And i think we're guarenteed trouble when the full financial impact of lockdowns comes home to roost.

Absolutely. I have little doubt they will open after 5th March...

When after 5th March is a very different question though

Right now the government have bought people’s futures and livelihood’s for the paltry sun of €350 per week.

    March 5th which year?

Is there a risk that cinemas will be replaced with Netflix and similar platforms?

Will the high street return at this rate?

I don’t see the confidence returning for many business in the models that was previously used

The "killing granny" narrative will be forgotten relatively quickly, particularly by the young and they're gonna be pissed.

Schools aren't a major transmission hub for this virus, there has been plenty of studies done, see my link above...

I think cinemas will survive, people are so starved of social activities outside their 4 walls

He is actually considered the first ever Epidemiologist.

His "oath" though has fúck all to do with "first, do no harm".

Think about it, if ever there was an impossible standard.

    His oath was basically.

Do not kill the patient on purpose even if they ask.

    Do not perform abortions.

And above all else do not ride your patient.
