NPHET model that cases are halving every 10-12 days. So by end of feb we should be in the 2-300 range.

Does the model allow for this reality:

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer has said it is vital that people with symptoms of Covid-19 isolate and contact their GPs immediately, after it emerged that one out of every two people are taking three days or longer to come forward for testing after symptoms appear

Sorry if I made this into a pregnancy forum :p

Nothing to offer but congratulations and best of health to you

I rang INTO on Monday and I am still waiting for them to ring me back!

I am 5 weeks pregnant so I need guidance on what to do next.

I know I can work from home during the 'phased' reopening. I am assuming this will be up to Easter. Who knows!

You need to fill in a risk assessment form stating why you are high risk. Once signed off on you will be able to work remotely until the phased return period is over.
Contact your principle for the form.

    Thanks Khalessi.

Fingers crossed all will be well :)

Think I read somewhere that it applies if you are more than 26weeks pregnant. Mot sure where I saw that though.

It applies to anyone that qualifies as "high risk". There's an assessment required.

Can you only get form from Principal?

    Thank you.

I am on the button for geriatricy :D

Ah yeah, I wouldn't fancy getting it at any stage is right. A few friends were in labour Covid positive and they were very isolated.

I suppose the way my time is falling, I would be in later stages of pregnancy over summer holidays and I wouldn't be going back in September anyway.

Sorry if I made this into a pregnancy forum :p

    I was geriatric myself ;)
    Big congrats. :)

Think the Deputy CMO has some connection with NPHET??:rolleyes:

That I'm not sure, but it has to be signed off by your principle so they should have received guidance from DE.

I know, it amazes me how peoples logic works. Both comments came from the same press conference... but somebody online thinks that somehow one now cancels the other out

With the talk of high risk teachers have they expanded the criteria? Just prior to this I have only heard VHR referenced and now I am hearing HR,

This is what the hse classifies as “high risk”:
The list of people in high risk groups includes people who:

are over 60 years of age
    have a learning disability
have a lung condition that's not severe (such as asthma, COPD, emphysema or bronchitis)
have heart disease (such as heart failure)
    have high blood pressure (hypertension)
    have diabetes
    have chronic kidney disease
have liver disease (such as hepatitis)
have a medical condition that can affect your breathing
    have cancer
    have clinically stable cystic fibrosis
have a weak immune system (immunosuppressed)
    have cerebrovascular disease
have a condition affecting your brain or nerves (such as Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy)
have a problem with your spleen or have had your spleen removed
have a condition that means you have a high risk of getting infections (such as HIV, lupus or scleroderma)
are taking medicine that can affect your immune system (such as low doses of steroids)
    have obesity
are residents of nursing homes and other long-stay settings
are in specialist disability care and are over 50 years of age or have an underlying health problem

Ha, what? Calm down, it's simply an article headline. I'm speculating that numbers will take a much longer time to drive down to earlier levels in light of this (and the new strain too).

But you think that the modelling they released yesterday wouldn't have taken any of this into account?

Second guessing the experts, Professor Nolan better watch his back.

    Real glass half empty attitude...

I don't know, hence the question. And as our health/government leaders have said before, covid keeps wrecking our best laid plans from the modelling. FFS, stop jumping down my neck.

If special schools are being opened at 50% occupation, is it likely mainstream schools will also be opened at 50% occupation - when this opening does actually occur?

The cynical side of me sees the powers that be using the special schools as a practice run.

I don't expect them to open secondary schools for all classes at once, but I wonder if they will only allow 50% capacity per class in the buildings at first for whatever year levels are permitted to return.

It wouldn't surprise me. 50% capacity is what has been suggested so many times, by so many people, since the beginning of discussions on this. Do people think inspiration might suddenly hit the DES?

I've given up trying to predict what the DES might do. You'd hope they'd announce a plan soon.

Only when I actually have a solid point. :pac::D;)

It was a silly thing to get bothered about, let's move on.

If they're only starting bilateral talks now then it looks like it will be the far side of midterm at this rate before they announce anything about the LC now.

Very tough on LCs. The orals and practicals are due to officially start soon after midterm but no indication what's happening there.

    Pretty poor stuff.

Greater chance of a diamond encrusted marshmallow meteorite hitting the DES.

If you are willing to pay. I use snagit screen recorder. Have a licence for 7/8 years. Once off fee. Very good. Easy to use and very quick to upload into google class room. My wife’s a teacher and she’s being using it since the lockdown and has had no issues. Recording 30 minute sessions and uses for questions and answer sessions

Any word in schools reopening? Cannot understand why they’d drag this closure on beyond mid term. Especially for Primary Level.
