    Which is for how long?

I'm not sure anyone knows. However with people reported as having it twice within a few months there may be a situation where those at the top of the vaccine list need a new immunisation before everyone at the bottom has had it

By around year 7 we may have a proper annual process in place though....:pac:

Exactly this! There should be a plan outlined. Can't keep the country locked up for 4/5 months and just say ah well, we'll see next month.

When cases start getting down to 200 a day in a few weeks and 100 times that are getting vaccinated every day, they'll be forced into re-opening

The lack of information is extremely frustrating. MM hinting that nothing major will be happening in March. And talk of hospitality not opening for months!

Irish people are unbelievably accepting. I honestly think you could take an Irishman's house off him and the most he'll do is complain to Joe.

    I’ve been thinking about this.

Is it anything to do with the fact the Irish have one of the lowest IQ scores in Europe?

Yes so true. I hate the government so I am never going to listen to them again. I think I’m just going to give up voting cause it actually seems pointless. You don’t need to listen to the news or dail to know when restrictions have lifted. I feel the one bit of control I have is never listening to the. Or watching rte news.

I'm completely with you there. Hate is a strong word but it also sums up my feelings for this dreadful Govt.

MM was raging at Leader's questions the other day. All of it bruised ego as he had been lambasted for his meaningful Xmas debacle. Nothing more dangerous than a little man with a bruised ego. And that's the essence of a lot of politicians. Little people with big egos. He was telling his backbenchers that they'd better not be coming after the 5th March pleading for different sectors, that he's not a Taoiseach of half measures and something about a long suppression. And people going on holidays have to be stopped. End of. I just find such talk beyond incredible. Do people have no rights or liberties anymore? Apparently not. My heart really goes out to the thousands whose concerns are completely discarded in all this, their livelihoods, businesses, futures.

    Dark times indeed.

The Irish have been exposed as subservient, servile, hysterical fear-mongers.

It's no wonder the official policy is neutrally.

Micheal O'Leary laying into Holohan and NPHET on NT saying their advice has been a failure from the start and saying they should be announcing the numbers vaccinated every day rather than terrifying people.

    He's not wrong.

Where are you getting the hundreds figure?
    Plucked from thin air seemingly.

Er as you said they did stop testing close contacts up until very recently....as the numbers had rocketed and the capacity for tests had been seriously stretched.

I didn't meet the criteria to even get tested due to lack of capacity in March, and I was in bed for over a week despite being extremely healthy and under 40.

You can't just bury your head in the sand and hope everything goes back to normal by ignoring the situation...you can understand that right?
We have serious capacity issues with ICU beds in particular.

I know for a fact that in one of the care homes in eastern EU country 43 of employees were tested for cv-19. 27 have tested positive. Out of those 27, 27 knew nothing about it and were quite surprised by the result of the test. So much for a pandemic...

And the very last thing said in that interview was Ciara Kelly telling us she'd take it in the eye. Needed that Monday morning smile.

If it is of any use to the "accused" I can assure the Medical Council that listening to these contrarian views does not of itself result in my ignoring any or all of the Health recommendations, but rather instead, allows me to broaden the scope of information which informs my decisions...which surely is a positive thing ?

The President of the Medical Council expresses her view....

It would appear that anybody who "tends to" disagree with Government Policy regarding CV-19 now faces some extreme sanctions.

That horse has well and truly bolted at this stage. NI will have fully rolled out it's vaccines before we even get to under 70's.

The timing seems very odd for all these additional measures, unless the Irish government are keen on having a much longer timeframe for restrictions.

I'm also not a fan of all these "temporary" powers being given to the Garda. They have a tendency to become permanent.

Another poster mentioned the bills when all this is over, the credit card is being fully loaded and the first repayment starts this budget !

" free money" you will hear ... if I offered you money at zero percent interest, would you go out spending like a lunatic , blow it on a new ferrari, when your income hadn't increased .. and you will be paying the money back, just with no interest. Didnt think so. Imagine the impact this expensive car will have on your options and resources down the line

The one lesson that should have been learned here, but was not, is that financially, this country should never, ever, put itself in a compromised situation again, make sure you keep control. Looks like that is already out the window again, only a few years of coming out of the last bust. You couldnt dream it up.

Only solution I have, for all those dismayed with the Irish political system. Is vote sf in droves, it might be the only option to provide a serious kick in the teeth to the establishments for their failings. It may lead to new parties emerging and a freshening up. I wont vote for ffg etc again, if I've a gun to my head in the polling booth...

    Not voting, just supports ffg...

yes just force people to give up their bodily integrity. Consent isn't an issue for you or just when it suits?

Your posts reeks of some dystopia where societies whims own your body and not you. Not a society I want to be in.

Maybe people who don't get vaccinated should wear a badge or a tattoo ?

Our government after accusing sf of talking about magic money trees, found several of them themselves in the last year. Ffg have a magic money tree alright, the hard working they, fg in particular, claimed to represent. Fg couodhtbegen find a hint of a money tree during the last boom to even scratch at the surface of usc abolition etc. No , no speed it all on " de vulneable" etc. Literally a party of the left except for their appetite for rip off housing . Im not saying sf are the solution, but more of ffg is unbearable and a sf surge, would force change in ffg. It may also kick off a few new parties. Or do you think voting ffg is going to sort out this political ffg tag team farce here since the foundation of the state ?

Looks to me like there's 2 options ATM

    Bad and worse

The likes of Michael O'Leary with a business-centric perspective is needed imo at these times

Yeah, the problem is all of those in the dual are appalling and clones of themselves literally eoukdbt matter who is in government at the moment. The only decent one I respected, Lucinda Creighton who had an ounce of integrity, left fg on an issue of moral compass. Then you have that weasel slimy tanaiste, schmoozing up to everyone , shudder! Climbing up his greasy poll...

Serious situation for many of the near two nmillion workers he claimed to represent and he is offmaking funny speech with mean girl quotes in them. Great movie, but disrespectful to be quoted from, by the likes of that failure ...
