Haha !! Now the question is will the Irish horses be allowed travel

Careful now I was shot down for even suggesting that it was a possibility!

Anyway back to the actual antepost bets per the thread title, I have identified Bravemansgame as my 'english' horse that firstly I think wins and secondly I think would gain massively from the absence of the Irish horses if it were to transpire. Happy with 5/1 and if the Irish are absent he will be 6/4 max.

Small bit of movement on B365 the last 48 hours, I suspect they will go NRNB very soon, were probably holding off until after yesterdays announcement from Boris, Betfred are NRNB on the championship races since 1 January.

Lots of talk about the champion hurdle antepost. It is possible the most dangerous race to back antepost. The only horse that you could be confident with is Epatante but at 9/4 its not worth a bet (yet) IMO. All of the others have question marks. All i know is that the professional gamblers wouldn't be backing anything in it

Sharjah 8/1 - Improving every year but Epatante beat him easily last year. He needs good in the ground description if he is to get near her. If that happens he won't be 8/1 on the day
Aspire Tower 10/1 - Improved this year and will need to keep improving. He didn't improve after Xmas last year so not reliable.
Saint Roi 10/1 - Not as good as everyone thought. Can Willie work his magic?
Silver Streak 12/1 - Great run at xmas but will cheltenham is totally different to Kempton. Epatante reported in season
Honeysuckle 16/1 - Probably a 30% chance she runs here
Concertista 16/1 Probably a 20% chance she runs here
Abacadabras 16/1 - Something must be a miss with Elliotts runners. I'd back if i got 25/1. Supreme was 1 second slower than Champion hurdle last year.
Saldier - 25/1 - He will improve a lot if he stays healthy

    Ante post bets so far

Royal Kahala - Mares Novice 20/1
    Bravemansgame - Ballymore 20/1
Kilcruit - Ballymore 50/1 (Bumper route looking likely)
Pencilfulloflead - 16/1 RSA (Now 20/1. I think this could be worth another go. He beat Latest Exhibition alot easier than Monkfish. Elliotts ran stinkers at xmas and trip too short LTO.
    Asterion Forlonge - March 20/1 (Now 33/1)
Deploy the Getaway - Bumper 33/1
Shiskin and Envoi Allen to remain unbeaten 20/21 season (Must run 3 times each) 40/1
Shiskin Arkle 21/Champion Chase 22 and Envoi Allen Marsh 21 100/1

I'd DTG backed as well since the start of the season, no sign of him running though which is a shame. Apparently he was working as well as Appreciate It and Ferny last year. CPS obviously have Sir Gerhard as their bumper monster this year, but it'd be nice to see him out anyway.

French Aseel sold to the Donnelly's and will be trained by a certain WPM, very interesting development.

They obviously don’t think much of the Henderson juvenile Heross Du Seuil then

I don't think they are buying them for their juvenile career to be honest, but yeah I would have French Aseel somewhere in the region of a stone better than Heross Du Seuil.

I also have Zanahyir another half 6-8lbs ahead of French Aseel ;)

Elliot's triumph horse only into 5/2 I thought would be around 7/4

Might look into backing him although french aseel is obviously very interesting

Interestingly PP have a disclaimer on their special top trainer and top jockey markets that all markets will be deemed void if the Irish horses are unable to travel.

There is no such condition in their race markets!

Cash out option has also been removed from all Ante Post bets.

As impressive as the horse has been I honestly think there will be enough competition on the day to have it starting bigger. There is every chance we have not even seen the Triumph winner in action yet.

Anyone thinking they getting value at 5/2 needs to give up the game.

Bookies are closed atm due to level 5 restrictions or at least they're ment to be.

I actually wasnt overly impressed with him the last day, although i seem to be in the minority.

i thought he had to work a bit too much for my liking.

maybe i just like flashy types, i dunno .

Considering the way all of Elliot's horses ran is what made it more impressive

All it takes is a few non runners such as French Aseel and he goes shorter

He has jumped very well and been very impressive

I would rather throw 30 or 40 a week where it doesnt seem much rather than throwing a few hundred on the day where it feels like losing more

What if French Aseel doesnt run and anything not out yet doesnt impress what price would you expect

He was 11/4 without nrnb and I think 5/2 is a fair price now

I would be surprised if he goes off much bigger on the day if at all

Exactly. I actually went in again after that performance, race wasn't run to suit either as the faster they go the better for him.

Sire Du Berlais at 10s striking me as the best NRNB price

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 9,078 ✭✭✭IAMAMORON

To clarify, I am not saying Zanahiyer can't or won't win - far from it. I just think that there is a fair chance he goes off better than 5/2. Betfair are offering 3's on their sportsbook. I presume that is AP?

    https://www.oddschecker.com/cheltenham-festival/triumph-hurdle/winner

Most bookies will not give you GP on NRNB bets placed now.

If he drifted on the day you might even get bookies offering 4 places etc - as they will first race on Gold Cup day.

    Just Saying.

I’m thinking storyteller at 20/1 . Jumped like a wardrobe last time and easily beat the others .

The Storyteller for the Stayers Hurdle and Delta Work for the Gold Cup for me.

I think the Storyteller is Gordon’s “plot” horse for the Festival. He’s a terrific horse and just watch there’ll be no talk about him in the lead up to the Festival, we saw what kind of a genius Gordon is with what he did with Cause of Causes and Tiger Roll. This could be another master stroke from him. 20/1 is a big price for this horse.

Delta Work ran a horrible race last year in the Golf Cup, he never travelled at all and hit a load of fences especially on the second circuit. Every time Mark Walsh got him into some sort of a rhythm he hit a fence and had to start all over again. Considering how bad he ran he still finished 5th and only beaten 5 lengths. Now the one concern for me is that because he fell over Christmas Gordon has to get another run into him. Gordon would have skipped the Dublin Racing Festival if he had stayed on his feet a fortnight ago. I think he was a tired horse heading to Cheltenham last year and I would like to see him get a clear round next month, where he finishes doesn’t bother me. Once he gets round then 33/1 for the Gold Cup is a crazy price.

20/1 and 33/1 for two horses with bundles of class and both are previous Festival winners.
