Son won world goal of the year with a pretty similar goal.

Well done from Eze, but the defending is horrendous. Mostly just SheffU lads jogging along ineffectually, with one challenge from an awkward leg facing the wrong way, and a fairly feeble effort from Ramsdale... it looked a bit like Son’s one in slow motion, or like a 19 year old playing against 10 year olds.

Was watching the Spurs/Leeds game on BT earlier.....

Commentary was hilarious TBH. Liturally creaming themselves throughout on how good Leeds were, Bielsa, wonderful to watch..... and then 3 - 0 down.

Now I don't have an axe to grind with either Leeds or Bielsa, but talk about ridiculous..... baring no reflection on what was happening in front of them at all.

They were so naive, it was crazy. I haven't seen much of them this season but while they are entertaining, top sides will continue to destroy them. They'll do enough to beat the weaker sides but if I was a Leeds fan today, I'd be raging they approached the game like that.

To be fair, Leeds are missing their 3 main CBs, including their 2 summer signings at CB.

They have a style and stick to it. It will help them win games and stay in the league. A good foundation to build on. In terms of football, would you rather be a Leeds fan currently or a WBA fan?

They could have VVD and peak Baresi but playing like that they will get spanked by good teams.

They're a great watch, no doubt but so were Ossie Ardiles' Spurs side. It's suicidal football. But good luck to them. I hope they stay up and I've no doubt they will.

You don't regard Liverpool or Man City as top sides?

    You have high standards!

Needs a trophy or two on his cv to back up his obvious talent as a manager. No easier club to get them tbf.

Arsenal was never gonna happen. They are a mess atm. Utd aren't playing at the top table the last while either. PSG is certain silverware and a great opportunity for CL glory.

    Liverpool 4 - 3 Leeds
    Leeds 1 - 1 City
    Leeds 1 - 4 Leicester
    Chelsea 3 - 1 Leeds
    Man U 6 - 2 Leeds
    Spurs 3 - 0 Leeds

The Liverpool game was the first one of the season. City were out of sorts and the trend is getting worse for Leeds against big teams. You can't play like they do and get results against teams that are better than you.

i think blackpool were the same under holloway. got off to a great start, everyone was talking about the great brand of no fear football. they soon ran out of steam and got relegated.

    "The trend is getting worse"

    :D

Leeds have been in the top flight a matter of months. They are still finding their feet. In the midst of that, they have had their 3 centre halves ruled out, meaning full backs and midfielders have had to play in that role. Let's at least wait until Bielsa has a full side to pick from and return fixtures against Spurs or Man Utd before saying the man who finished 3rd in fifa's Coach of the Year is getting it wrong!

It won't be just the big sides, soon any manager worth his salt is going to have them figured out.

Sticking to one style of play isn't admirable, it is shortsighted.

I don't think any Leeds fans are worried that Bielsa could be just another Ian Holloway!

You can try the condescension buddy but it doesn't work because you're clearly talking nonsense.

16 goals conceded in the last 4 games I've listed there. The trend is getting worse.

Leeds are a great watch but they're naive and will get picked off by good teams no matter who is playing centre back for them.

Hard to know how to critique them. They'll probably finish a good bit higher than your average promoted side does, yet they also spent far more than most do so mitigates it somewhat.

As I said before the match it always looked likely they were going to be vulnerable against a Jose style setup. Does that mean they should have altered thier approach, it's hard to say, but its probably his lack of plan B C D thats stopped him getting a genuine top job in football. Many managers have learned from his attacking tactical philosophy but arguably adapted it in a more sensible and rounded view than a one style fits all approach. Great fun though and doubt Leeds fans are complaining too much.

I think that's very fair comment. They'll stay in the league, they'll hammer a few teams but they badly need a plan B and the manager doesn't seem to have one. Doesn't make him a bad manager, doesn't make Leeds a bad side. They're a great watch but they'll take some hammerings along the way.

If I was a Leeds fan I'd be pretty happy tbh.

Play decent football and will stay up barring a calamity. Build on it next season.

You're getting annoyed because you obviously made what you thought was a great point, and didn't realise Leeds are missing almost every centre half in the squad!

It would be a bit like saying Liverpool are on a downward trend, completely ignoring that VVD and others are injured.

You're just showing you've missed my point. It doesn't matter who Leeds have at centre back. You cannot play like they do and keep clean sheets against better teams. Like I said above, put VVD and Baresi in centre back, they're still conceding goals. My whole point is around their style of play, not the personnel. It's why they've conceded the most goals in the league aside from West Brom.

Liverpool are top of the league. How on earth could you say they are on a downward trend. What a ridiculous argument.

The thing that annoyed me watching the Leeds game earlier, was the commentator's (the fella doing it with Andy Townsend, don't know his name) insistence that "they never give up" when 3-0 down and hardly forcing Lloris into action, or indeed coping with the movement of Son at the other end.

Yeah, because every other team give up when losing

The fan fare around Leeds is getting pretty cringey to be honest. In my opinion they are as anti football as Mourinho is.

Reckless, naive defending means they are nearly destined to lose when playing teams with a decent attacking two/three.

But the media seem to love them because they "ave a go and aren't afraid". How did that go on their eagerly anticipated trip to Old Trafford or when the faltering Leicester City came to town?

The stats don't lie and but for a point against City, they've been hopeless against the big teams.

They play like a lot of fans of most clubs seem to want their team to play. They attack, attack, attack. And if that doesn't work, they throw more bodies forward. It is a great spectacle but you're spot on above.

Joint second highest scorers in the league are anti football!

Interestingly exactly this was said of Liverpool in 17/18, when they were amazing going forward but hemorrhaging goals. It was said no matter how good VVD was, it wouldn’t make a difference because the system and attitude were the problem. He came in, and they conceded a lot less goals.

So let’s wait and see how Leeds look with their first choice defence before writing them off.

    ?

They very demonstrably are. Just because the league position has remained constant doesn’t mean the form/play/momentum has. At this stage last season Liverpool had dropped 2 points. This season they’ve dropped 15. And 4 points in just the last 2 games. That’s obviously a downward trend.

BTW, where's the fanfare? Imo, that statement is a bit over egged.

Klopp changed his style a bit from the earlier seasons so it was more than just personnel that made the difference and, even at their most naive, they were never as naive as Leeds are being. I'd also say the goalkeeper was almost as big a signing as VVD was.

The standard Liverpool set last year was abnormal. So you could call it a downward trend from there but if anyone expected them to maintain that level, they'd be nuts because it's unrealistic. On the other hand, I'd expect Leeds to be some way competitive against the top sides. That's realistic if they don't approach games playing kamikaze football.

There are also some strange circumstances for Liverpool to contend with this year between the covid situation and the amount of games they are playing.
